TRACK THE RACE!!!!!!!
Nice looking up and not seeing Pena's ass. The key now is to not let up. Split the next two with the A's and things will look nice.

Goddamnit, Manuel...
And the Magic 8-Ball says Carl!

JM and the Bullpen
Whenever JM goes to the bullpen I am reminded of Ol' Mother Hubbard. He ain't got a lot of choices in a tight division race. The plan was for Koch not Botch. The bullpen is probably the toughest area for the manager when it goes bad. Mistakes trying to get something settled usually result in blown games under a magnifying glass. I have a hard time being too critical with his handling of the pen, but some of his blunders have been inexplicable. Is he the worst manager in the majors? Probably not but I certainly feel the team is playing better than he is managing. KC is the opposite, Pena is managing better then they are playing.

Mountain Dew: Code Red
One day when I was working in Mexico I was craving a MD but of course there wasn't any around. One of my co-workers suggested this weird looking redish drink. Man it was like letsdrink12cupsofcoffeeandstayawakeallnighttakingands*** that stuff was pure caffiene ahhh, much better.

What's the best way to take care of...
You have two options: 1. Spend the money, get it cut out by a Podiatrist 2. Do it yourself! Basically get a very sharp ex-acto knife and cut away. While you laugh at option 2 if you let this go many more days, at some point you will actually consider it. The pain gets to be very nasty.

Something interesting
Queer Eye is my #1 favorite new comedy. I couldn't watch Boy Meets Boy very long, a little too much.

No tie...
Not to declare him guilty or anything but in the back of my mind, when guys like Kobe or Tyson or even Hugh Grant gets in sex related trouble I wonder, couldn't he have walked into the bar and asked who wants to have sex with a rich, good looking, famous NBA player/actor/boxer? Hell if it works for Presidents I figure it has to work for other celebs.

Sweeney and Pena
Mostly overlooked in our KC series was Pena's bringing in Sweeney as inspiration for his team. It smelled of a B movie story line when Sweeney showed up in the club house after hitting a home run the night before. He said he could play in a day or two. Now it's looking like next week sometime. I have to admire the Royals they are trying every little trick, smoke and mirrors to keep winning. I don't know if Pena could manage long ball and our line up but would love to see him get a chance. Think he would jump after we dump JM this November?

Astros Claim Rick White!!!
LOL and crying. You are so right.

has alomar made us better???
I'll take Alomar every day for the rest of this season. Think Met fans are a little pissed he didn't play this hard for them?

Our friend Poznanski getting a little scared?
I'm liking the guy more and more every day. Could he clear waivers for a Mariotti for Poznanski trade? Hell with a name like Poznanski, he should be in Chicago.

who pitches in the 9th??
At this moment in time, these boys couldn't douse a fire with a boot full of piss if the instruction were written on the heel. If Koch suddenly gets some movement on his fastball I could see him back in that role. If not it's a Marte Parte. Nothing like hanging our hat on that guy. I believe the phrase is achilles heel.

Rick White still a White Sox...
I happen to like the Astros. They play in Texas so I can actually see and or hear their games. Plus they play in the NL central with my 16th favorite NL MLB team.

Olivo irked
You gotta have two catchers and I like the balance we have at that position. Either way I think we have had solid major league catching most of the season. I do like Sandy's experience when we get down to that final week or two of the season.

Flash is back
That is not what the Magic 8 Ball said to JM. Or do we think he is using a Quiji board? Tarot cards?

Mountain Dew: Code Red
That keeps you up? Have you thought of Viagra? That will really . . .

SOS!
If we can make the Tigers look like the Yankees maybe we can make the Yankees look like the Tigers? If somebody would step up and look like a closer for a month or two we will be fine. If we have to sit and pucker our ass everytime JM grabs the ball and makes the call we're pretenders.
-
a prediction
While we're making predictions dose JM resign or get fired? Who is the closer for 2004? Youth movement after we can't sign 4 or 5 guys? 1 game back and it will not take 30-20 to win this division. 27-23 will probably take it. None of these teams are that good.

Jim Caple's ballpark rating of Wrigley
Sorry, Wrigley lover here. I remember as a kid walking up the ramp into sunshine, seeing the ivy and the players. All good memories. I'm not a big fan of skyboxes, retail stores, hotels etc. Just thought of something wasn't it in the 60's or early 70's that they added the fence thingy on the outfield wall to keep the bleacher bums from running on the field? Hmmm, could it be that Wrigly has a longer history of such stuff?

Bartolo Colon
Pitching wise our best hope is 9-9-9 as in innings pitched by our starters. Unless something changes between now and the end of the season (plus we land in 1st place) our bullpen will really be exposed.

Jerry Manuel
I like how often he gets tossed from games. Maybe he could start getting tossed earlier, like when he's filling out the lineup card.
