Who would you have hired?
At least we were spared the extended dog and pony show. Instead we received a hall of fame manager in minutes.

Who would you have hired?
Alomar. But I'm a broken record. He's been my first choice for three openings now.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Those are great points. I'm still against the PED boys from getting in, now I'm against the guys who profited also.

Could he lower his win count? Have a WS taken away? I guess he could tarnish his reputation by stealing signs or betting on baseball. Maybe taking steroids?

Which makes me believe it's win it all now. This could mean JR opens the vault. Maybe Tony's value is getting JR to spend. Doesn't make sense to bring in Tony as part of a building plan. "Hey Jer, I'll come but you got to resign everyone and bring in a couple arms"

2020 Election Thoughts
The last Senate race was close. The tech industry is growing fast, bringing in younger, more liberal voters. Most of Texas is rural and rural residents don't need or receive much in government services. Classic small government conservatism makes sense for them. As people start living closer together in bigger towns and cities, rules for living near people and government programs make more sense. Classic big government liberalism makes sense. Then there is a streak of take care of your own shit and stop waiting for someone to take care of you independence that seems to run through both political spectrums.

I doubt any of my top three picks would have generated over a 100 page thread.

Once again a trailblazer. That's how you get in the hall of fame.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Second hall of famer to manage after being inducted as a manager. Third winningest manager of all time.

Tony La Russa named Manager
Ironically Tony was the youngest manager in baseball when he was first hired by the Sox.

It's clearly not worth it and in the case of the anthem I fully support anyone who kneels. We had a manager that fit the personality of the bunch. Why did we let him go? Now take those reasons, are they worth more or less than personality that fits the bunch? The team clearly believes those reasons outweighed supporting protests and parted ways. I also believe a good manager gains the trusts and confidence of the players while maintaining some control of the clubhouse. I don't think a manager could do that and fight the anthem protest and would be stupid to try. But there may be other issues where he should set limits.

I support kneeling for the anthem. But I can think of some protests that absolutely shouldn't be allowed so I'm not going all that way with you. Is there any protest you wouldn't back?

So a requirement to be a manager is to allow players to kneel during the anthem. We can't have a manager who tells a player no. Just let the players run the clubhouse and stuff. We need a manager to memorize the best strategy based on computer simulations and do that. Seriously.

Golf/PGA TOUR thread
So it's blowing 30 mph from the north and the temp drops 30 degrees in two hours. I'm with my varsity on Mondays and in our group chat a couple players ask if we're practicing today. I was just thinking this is insane the wind will be dead on into us on the range and I should cancel but since they asked . . . Of course we're going to practice! Oh gawd I've become such a fair weather player since moving to Texas lol. So we're working on little knock down shots trying to control the trajectory. I had an 8 iron with me. I got challenged to hit a 110 yard shot to a spot on the range. I haven't really played since December. Boom! A little 3/4 shot, dead solid center of the club face perfect contact. I could not have hit it any better. Landed 30 yards short of the target lol. That wind was ferocious.
