  1. Titleist 714 AP1 on order. I went back and forth between the AP1 and AP2. My pro and I discussed AP1 3-5 and AP2 6-W2. Ultimately we went with I don't practice enough anymore and go with the more forgiving club. But man, when you hit the AP2s on the sweet spot you are reminded why they call it the sweet spot.
  2. Thank you Big Jim Thompson and rolling back the clock
  3. In another thread people were claiming that no one in the front office should have their jobs. Now they are stepping in and that is a mistake. I wonder if at some point they ignore the fan's opinions?
  4. That was the best finish of tournament I can ever remember. Even better than Jack's final Masters victory.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 51m51 minutes ago Top five rotation ERAs: PIT 2.85, NYM 2.95, STL 3.11, CIN 3.31, TB 3.40. Bottom five: COL 5.59, BOS 5.54, CWS 5.41, TOR 5.40, CLE 5.31. None of these guys deserve to be starting anymore.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2015 -> 02:28 PM) Boston fired Nieves. When are the White Sox going to show some accountability and fire their pitching coach for this hot mess? do you mean the Teflon Coach?

So in theory every beer could go from a $1 to $12 even Bud?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 8, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) (beer prices go up and down based on sales volumes like stock prices) What is the typical spread of beer prices?
  9. QUOTE (dasox24 @ May 7, 2015 -> 06:12 PM) Wow, that's really awesome. It was kind of funny when we heard he was playing as an amateur. WTF?! was the usual thought. IIRC it was his only practice round that week, he arrived Tuesday night. I wish I could say we followed him when we were at the tournament but it didn't seem like any big deal. One year I gave up my spot to a customer who could make it at the last minute. I even caddied for him as kind of a joke. The tour player, a rookie with more missed cuts than Clinton had girlfriends, asked me if I would caddy for him that week. I was shocked and not thinking said no, I had plans for the weekend. Later, a buddy said that wouldn't have mattered, the pro wasn't going to be playing the weekend. I really, really wished I had said yes.

You know you are in a great beer pub when . . . Each beer and glass is carefully matched, not a one glass fits all approach. Double points if the bartender knows why.

Big Sky got me thinking. One of my wife and I's favorite things about our summer travels is eating and drinking locally. There are a few good brewing companies in the Montana - Wyoming area.
  12. Ventura prefers things that aren't so bright . . .

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 7, 2015 -> 11:02 AM) Yeah Im not a big IPA fan myself, I like German Pilsners mostly. My daughter is a huge IPA fan and she has introduced me to a couple, but I'm with those that just doesn't appreciate them. The last time I was having a few beers with my kids I noticed the $ tab was about the same, only we drank about half as many as we use to. Quality instead of quantity.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 10:27 AM) They have been up here for a few years now. Thankfully still no Lone Star. Blasphemy that Shiner should be shipped outside of Texas. Next thing you'll have Whataburger and great year round weather.
  15. One company I worked for would have two or three group in the Monday ProAm at the Greater Milwaukee Open and one in the Wednesday. In 1996 we played well as a team but we lost to a team that had an amateur that was about to make his professional debut the next day, Eldrick Woods.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2015 -> 09:01 AM) Without getting into micro's, my favorite beer right now is the new White Wing by Shiner Bock. It is what Blue Moon wanted to be, but failed at. It is sooooo good. Hey, how are you getting Shiner products? I didn't think we were sharing.

  18. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 6, 2015 -> 06:23 PM) which is why I wouldnt do it. seems like it'd be too buddy-buddy. we had a closed HS campus but the guard would let kids drive off campus for lunch if you brought her a Frosty or something. \We have an open campus for seniors. I hadn't considered the buddy-buddy aspect. I do tend to be "buddies" with a lot of students so I guess I never really worried about that. I'm the teacher that is invited to quinceañeras, wedding, graduations, etc. I never thought of that as a bad thing.
  19. QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 6, 2015 -> 05:31 PM) Yes. Ozzie, coop and walker should have been given contracts for life............................................................. So you agree that playoff appearances is not a good way to evaluate if a coach is doing a good job and should be retained?
  20. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 6, 2015 -> 02:30 PM) Last 8 years and ZERO playoff appearances..........yep loyalty has worked out so well. Walker has been gone three years and ZERO playoff appearances. With Walker World Series WIN! Is playoffs and world series the best way to judge the effectiveness of an individual coach?
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 6, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) Yeah, the offense realy took off when he finally took off. What a horrible thing, loyalty. One of the issues I was hoping we would get to is keeping guys around. If we have a better picture of exactly was is to gain, or lose, keeping a long term employee just might be better.
  22. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ May 1, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) Ben E. King (76) died. He sang "Stand By Me" as well as many other hits both with The Drifters and on his own. Not to be confused with BB King as one radio announcer did here.
  23. QUOTE (LDF @ May 6, 2015 -> 12:01 PM) i can say, before, and at what time am i talking about, before, so for this, before the Hahn regime, i was never really been overly impress with the sox draft, let me further say also, before there was an internet world, we as fans couldn't follow players / prospects and their progress or the rate and judge players profiles. except for a few players, i would like to know the % of each team, who had wost selections, other than the sox. accountability, i will let you decide that. who's fault and who were the bosses. BTW, and since I have nothing to do with it it's not self serving; futuresox is amazing to me. It is a great example of personal journalism with professionalism and standards of ethics equal to many print publications.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 6, 2015 -> 11:12 AM) Reality is, no one should have reached any significant conclusions over the 100 AB's that either of them have gotten to date. Conclusions that have been reached should have been by top scouts (or people following the skillsets) saying, they either have or don't have the tools ready to succeed. If you think they have the tools, than you can't reach a conclusion (good or bad) over the course of 100 at bats. I've long said I like Johnson more than Sanchez because he has a tool that makes him more unique. All that said, I wouldn't say Sanchez couldn't be a league average 2B based upon what we know about him. I've long thought Johnson had more upside and what I can't envision would be Sanchez being a well above average 2B. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2015 -> 11:13 AM) This is exactly how I feel about this situation. I agree with one caveat from too many years of "upsides" that never materialize. There is a lot to be said about ability today, in tonight's lineup. I'm really weary of the excitement of a draft and then nothing really comes of it.
