QUOTE (He_Gawn @ May 25, 2012 -> 05:07 PM) Was reading Yahoo! Sports front page a little bit ago and noticed a familiar face... Myself. Is it legal to do a story, use my facebook picture, then run it on a huge website? Jeez lol http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/highschool-p...Y3Rpb25z;_ylv=3 Classy. I would just have said

Marlins trade Buehrle, Josh Johnson, Reyes plus others to Blue Jays

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2012 -> 06:56 PM) It all goes to having respectability with your fans. The Marlins now have none. I agree that for the moment that is the case. For a young franchise with more WS wins than a lot of franchises who have been around more than 100 years (cough Cubs), it will rebuild quickly as soon as they put a winning product on the field. And based on their history, that could be 2014 or 15. -
Any ideas on why I seem to duplicate post almost every time? I am using Chrome.

There is a park near me where owners of "breeds commonly thought of as 'fighting dogs'" tend to congregate at certain times. At that moment, I am in full agreement of bans on certain breeds of dogs. I quickly get in my truck and leave. Seeing a dozen or more of those breeds, most with massively heavy chains around their necks, their gangster owners strutting around, is just is too threatening.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Nov 18, 2012 -> 06:13 PM) The fact that people still believe that they have any level of anonymity with any of the these tactics are humorous. The only person you may fool is your non-technical spouse. The amount of evidence that is left behind in its digital format would alarm you. Heck I wonder how many of you have bothered to check to see if those certificates from ssl encrypted sessions are the actual certificate from the server and not the certificate your company has issued who is acting as the man in the middle. In the end the professionals can get this info, no matter the cute tricks that you employ to get around it. And of all people on the planet, the head of the CIA should know this. 95% or more of the spouses would have a hard time catching those tricks and that is IMHO the only person he should have feared.

I stopped turning on my computer and use my iPad. Mail, Words With Friends, out the door. I am now sleeping 45 minutes longer each night by not firing up the computer and visiting Soxtalk.

It has been nothing but Faulkner the past three months. Sanctuary, Absalom! Absalom!, Go Down Moses, Wild Palms, Pylon, they are all blurring together. I am looking forward to a bit of fun reading as soon as the semester is over. Border Crossing: Walking the Haiku Path on the International Appalachian Trail by Ian Marshall http://www.modernhaiku.org/bookreviews/Marshall2012.html firelight spreading farther than its heat remembering an old flame every wave the sea revising its last line the map after the trip creases and stories every which way

QUOTE (AntonSox @ Nov 15, 2012 -> 11:01 AM) Christmas is coming soon and I want do by a present for my girlfriend. Thought about a watch or ring. Are there any suggestions? Hmm, you join and three days later ask total strangers for advice? My kind of guy. I'd give her the watch and then ask her if you can while she meets this lady you just happen to know.

He built a home down here across from South Padre Island. He lost "only" $2,000,000 when he sold it at auction. Nice enough place, the new owners allowed us to use it for a Boy Scout fundraiser. Some of the locals talked about how strange he was. And coming from that area, you really have to distinguish yourself to be labeled strange.

My favorite was the "midnight" stadium deal. Just keep turning back the clock . . .

More interesting points are Puerto Rico voting to become a state and parts of Arizona wishing to break away and become their own state.

The whole time I've been thinking how the hell can the HEAD OF THE CIA not know how to get away with it? If there is one guy in America who should be able to do this and not get caught isn't the head of the CIA? A couple of nice tips for anyone looking to keep a relationship secret that I learned from the good General Create a gmail account, and you both use the same one. Compose messages but do not send. Then the other person comes along, reads it, and deletes and creates a new draft. No emails are even sent. Open a dropbox or similar and just leave documents there. Nothing stored on your hard drive.

I would like to see solutions that allow for good people to take their experience to multiple government positions without seeing non proportional increase to their pension. Thirty years with one government agency should equal thirty years with four or five agencies. For example in Texas no matter how many different school districts I work in my pension remains the same. Now I must confess I am a double dipper of sorts. Besides an independent retirement account, I will have Texas Teachers pension and Social Security. Plus, by working summer jobs that contribute to SS, I continue to accrue quarters.

I suck. I just realized the first FS thread I clicked on in months and months involves a non prospect for a non prospect trade. Why? Because of the potential personal stuff. While it removes a distraction, it also makes it easier for someone to end that boy's MLB dream and get him on a path to a real job.

When you push stuff to these crazy limits you discover things you never think of.

I was pointing out that people that are clutching the bottom rungs of the economic ladder are exposed to far greater risks than you and I. So a storm, no matter how great the potential destruction, may seem like not that great a risk. Combined with being a refugee with little or no cash that prospect may be far more threatening than staying and riding out the storm. We see the people who lost that risk, rarely do we see the many more who stay and are fine. Also, and I see that living in an area where projections have had probably eight or none hurricanes coming through and only one actually did, waiting is a natural response. I don't know of anyone on South Padre that evacuates with more than 12 hours on the clock.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Nov 3, 2012 -> 10:22 AM) He had what was coming to him then, hard to feel bad. Leave or possibly die? I'll figure out a way to leave. Sure. Now think about the people living in the worse areas of cities. The areas with drive by shootings, drug deals in their hallways. They face possibly dying every day, why haven't they figured out a way to leave? Think about Mexican nationals who risk dying crossing deserts, being smuggled in trucks, crossing rivers in the dead of night. Why? People with limited financial means are always facing risks far greater than others. They become use to it. When all you got is all you will ever have, walking away is harder than you may think.
-
It sounds easy to evacuate. Just leave and go somewhere. Now put that in realistic terms. You have less than $100 to your name and no car. Hell even with a car, how much gas will you buy? Where will you stay? And the problem just scales from there.

If you want that favor again, I'd say thank you someway. I'd go personal note if he is over 40. It really depends on what social circle *he* is in. But a brief thank you, the seats were excellent, of course I will send any customers your way . . .

Whatever happens this was one of K-Dubs better moves adding AJ. The move helped both. He managed to rehab his reputation (although not totally). He'll have more interest than before he came here. I don't like to even consider hometown discount unless there are hometown bonuses, and that hasn't happened.
