  1. First off he's the second best 3B I've watched in a Sox uniform. I also read one of the beat writers sent a tweet that Crede sticks by his decision regarding his medical choices he would not have done anything different
  2. Just stopped by to say hello
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) Exactly where I was trying to drag you. By having the bank put her out of her house, she basically becomes a ward of the taxpayers. Or best case scenario, she survives based on someone else's charity, probably with the assistance of the taxpayer. And I believe this highlights a huge difference between liberals and conservatives. With one or two exceptions here, (and those may be hyperbole) both liberals and conservatives are interested in the lady's welfare. Liberals will believe that there should be a legal (government) protection, conservatives will believe it should be private (which happened). But I really doubt SS wants to see a 101 year old lady without a home. And, again, it reads to me like the 65 year old son LIVES WITH HER. They both moved across the street to that rental home. And the cutoff SS, as I posted before, should be if you are 100 or have less than 12 months to live, you should not be evicted.
  4. Depends are for minor bladder control problems. If you're wearing a diaper, it's always a major problem
  5. Wow, maybe I am in too Republican Texas but my read is Obama has a losing hand right now and needs to draw a couple winners to have a chance. And no, this isn't my usual pre-election hyperbole. His approval has dipped pretty low, the economy hasn't recovered as much as promised. His big initiatives aren't playing out too well. The Republican base is really fired up to defeat him, more so than any otehr Dem president in my lifetime. I think he's in trouble out the gate.
  6. QUOTE (vandy125 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:16 AM) Can her son be kicked out of his own house instead of her? My reading of the article made it seem like the kid was living with her, or she with him. The liberal media is playing up the 101 year old woman angle and not the 65 year old son. Makes for a better story. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:19 AM) I feel bad for her, but I don't see anything wrong with evicting her. Her son hasn't paid the mortgage in years and was given a forclosure notice ten months ago. What the f*** did he think was gonna happen? He is the problem. Exactly. She raised an idiot kid. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 09:20 AM) So what is the cutoff age for having to pay your mortgage? 100 or with less than 12 months to live.
  7. Thank you.
  8. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_...-09-13-17-20-42 They should have plenty of time to walk south before it gets too cold there in Detroit. Maybe they could find a nice spot on a beach somewhere in Florida. Obviously Obamacare and Obamastimulus has not worked for this woman.
  9. BTW people who elect Perry hoping for a real right winger will be disappointed. He'll be a lot more like Clinton in that regard. Of course he will be right of center, but not as far as some give him credit for. Just what I see in Texas. He's practical that way.
  10. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Sep 14, 2011 -> 12:19 AM) Also, I love how liberals just adore Huntsman. As if that's a credential that's going to help him win the GOP nomination. HA! Republicans don't need no stinkin' liberal and moderate voters. HA! I really do hope the GOP nominates someone with zero (what you call) liberal (appears to me moderate) appeal. That will certainly help Obama keep his base together.
  11. Oh s***, I am so busy with work.
  12. Anyone of them could be Obama.
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) Does the city really think they'll gain something from this? Or is it just to force teachers to play babysitter for an extra hour a day? I don't know their schedule, but usually they want more core subject instruction. Perhaps an after school tutoring program. Good teachers do it voluntarily . . .
  14. Too bad the parents couldn't maybe try to teach their kids something as well as the school. I'm a little irritated because I spent three hours grading papers last night. So adding 90 minutes of instruction will add another 30 minutes of grading.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) Right. I forgot, this wasn't Obama's fault. Do you really believe one person has that much power in this country?
  16. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) It was there...just happened to be on the bench and in AAA You know what would be even crazier? If he *gasp* didn't f***ing play him. I honestly believe we could have won the division or came within a game or 2 if our lineup was made by a 6 year old who only had BA/HR/RBI to look at after July 15th. A DH by committee would have worked just fine . . .
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) http://www.journalgazette.net/article/2011...9926/1002/LOCAL Dummy, that's not what his buddies meant when they told him to make a run for the border . . .
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) And as much as you celebrate $4 gas, I know you can't wait for $10. A. According to the fairy tale, when gas hits $10 a gallon some American company will start drilling and sell it for $4 B. I write the hyperbole around here. Go back to charts and graphs sir.
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) Liberal values are at odds with conservative values that I agree with. So we disagree. There's no "hate" element there. I don't "hate" you or "dislike" you because you think differently. I don't believe the values are at odds at all. What is at odds are the routes to achieve those values. Liberals believe, for the most part that we achieve those goals best by working together, and the one institution we have that is all of us is the government. So liberals like to make things better through the government. Conservatives share many of the same values, but they would like private enterprise and charities (volunteers) to help that route. Security for our future? Help starving kids? Help poor people? Help people get an education? Allowing sick people to see a doctor or surgeon The values are the same, the route is different.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 10:20 AM) He also has God on his side. All the Reps do, it's their rock, their cornerstone.
  21. Perry will have a nice edge in fundraising and the best run campaign. The rest is gravy.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 10:07 PM) Greg, one question, if bringing in Ozzie will make everything wrong with the Marlins right, how come the White Sox aren't great? I'll toss in an answer, chemistry. People listen to the new person. Just look at guys and how quickly they listen to the new girlfriend. That all changes soon. There are very few managers who can stay fresh. I believe Oz's style has just run its course.
  23. I still think most people are pushing Oz further to extremes than he really is. It's the nature or debates here. Some think he is way better than he really is, and to counter that, some are making him out to be way worse than he is. Ozzie isn't worth ten loses or wins, and that would just be to get in the playoff race. This team will lose 80 games, the vast majority will be on the players, not Oz. Remove Oz and there are still some serious holes to be filled. With the position the Sox are in, bringing in guys making the league min and hoping they work out isn't going to satisfy fans. So KW and Co. go after veterans who are having good careers and contracts to "prove it". When they bomb, it's a big money bombing. Besides the Dunn family, no one wishes he was making that kind of money, but remove his contract, fans would be pushing for the team to sign someone who will be earning a similar contract.

QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 12:48 AM) Just think about it. Dunn could be a legitimate candidate for CBPOTY next year if he even hits, say, .240 with 20 HRs and 80 RBIs. That's how bad he's been. Another odd thought, if Dunn magically learns how to hit for contact, he could feasibly double his BA with a career year next year. I mean, it will never happen. But if you think of another struggling player, like Beckham, he'd have to hit .460 to double his. Not feasible, not even for Ty Cobb. And if you even take what many would consider the next worse season in baseball history, Rob Deere's 1991 season, you'd have to hit .358 to double that, something which has only been done ten times in this century. So not really feasible either. But Dunn would only have to hit .324! In 2007, 15 people did that, including the non-superstar likes of Chone Figgins and Mike Lowell. Not saying Dunn is ever going to hit .324. Hell, the way he swings these days, I wouldn't place money on .200. I'm just saying that an average double what his is isn't really uncommon at all. Dunn sucks. CBPOTY is easily within grasp. In fact, if he is still on a mlb roster next September, he should be a lock. I'm guessing we're going to here about some strange injury/disease/ailment that he is recovering from.
