  1. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ May 27, 2010 -> 10:11 AM) I can recall seeing it for all except the Bulls, which apart from maybe a sweat band, would be hard to do anyway. I think one of the Bears' helmets was stolen a few years back.
  2. Oops, I was too quick http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20100526/wl_time/08599199162000 Sounds like suicide to me.

  4. QUOTE (T R U @ May 27, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) As its already been said, those games are played on the teams home field who earned it.. they aren't neutral sites so I don't really see how you can compare the two.. If you are going to put it in cold weather sites, why not just scrap the neutral stadium stuff and just have the best team host it.. then it will at least be in cold and warm places depending on who is there.. That would have worked before the NFL managed to make the Super Bowl into a week long event which is much, much, bigger than the game. The game is just one scheduled event, and with corporate entertaining being so much of the SB, having it in NY will be huge. And this is way more about having it in NY (OK New Jersey) than in cold weather.
  5. Is there any situation in the world where we are not involved in some way? I imagine China is the same way.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 27, 2010 -> 09:31 AM) Some nice shots of the construction of Hawks helmets on the Art Institute lions. I love that tradition.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2010 -> 09:32 AM) And what happens when 10 Chinese advisors are killed by a U.S. led air strike? We've seen that story before. Back channel apology and keep on playing. Here is a question, do we have enough weapons and ammo to help supply SK? /Investors are checking which plane company supplies either side and increasing their position. There is money in wars.
  8. It will be a war by proxy. At most we'll see advisers speaking Chinese and English.
  9. Drop the puck, I'm tired of waiting.
  10. Meanwhile weapons and ammunition sales reps are gearing up for a great third quarter in sales. The R&D boys are under pressure to come up with something new to gain market share. Mortuary supply companies are printing some extra catalogs. Johnson and Johnson is developing new supplies for the Korean market. Adoption companies are planning on their Christmas "Adopt a Korean Orphan" advertising blitz.
  11. HAPPY 50th BIRTHDAY!! Linked for you convenience
  12. I'd rather China have those nukes than NK
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 26, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) If you're providing aid for only 1 side, then the other side might as well shoot you. Correct. But if you are training their side in advanced medical care, are you now abetting? The US, for example, provides the training for the medics, should the Red Cross provide the rtaining for the Taliban medics? I see where a line could be crossed.
  14. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 26, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) This is dumb. The two best teams should have the best field available so they can showcase their skills. The more random luck/shoddy field conditions involved, the worse it is for everyone. Watching a game in snow is cool for about a minute, then you realize it's a terribly played game and it's just garbage football. I want a football game to have the athletes running, jumping, hitting, and cutting to the best of their abilities in the most important game of the year. Well said. I disagree, but I like how well you stated the anti-s argument. Baseball and football are played under a variety of conditions. In the unique case of baseball, even the overall field dimensions are left to the individual stadiums. Basketball and for the most part hockey, are much more uniform. In all sports adapting to the field of play and the conditions is a big part of the game. I support an outdoor game in any sort of weather. It gives the best players a chance to truly distinguish themselves. In my mind, it is in those challenges where we see the best of their abilities.
  15. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ May 26, 2010 -> 09:36 AM) Is it hypocritical for those who scream for smaller government, to be critical that the federal government hasn't stepped in to take over the oil spill efforts? Speaking just about the people here, the "small government" people could better be described as "appropriate sized government". It is more of a case by case basis on what is, and is not, an appropriate roll for the government. I will be surprised if anyone here suggests that a smaller government inspection team is appropriate.
  16. Basically the issue seems to come down to this. They need to stay neutral in providing first aid. I think most everyone agrees you treat all people affected by the war. Things become murkier when they are training the "other side" in first aid skills and other related topics. At what point are their actions too much?

  19. Police chiefs are worried about the law.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2010 -> 11:21 AM) This debt crisis should have us looking in the mirror. Exactly correct. Obviously we need another round of tax cuts.
  21. Happy Birthday!
  22. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 25, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) To steal the first line from this story, 'How do you say 'Karma' in spanish?' http://www.bostonherald.com/news/opinion/o...osition=emailed These are the guys I'd love to see as guests of the state for a couple years before being deported.
  23. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 25, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) But you know I'm the most bigoted, racist mother f'er ever. I'm conservative after all. I hope I always separate the bigots of the far right from the mainstream conservatives. There are folks at the extreme of both parties who embarrass the mainstream.
