  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) When he first started dropping down he had the same velocity he's always had. Than he had his bought with sciatica or however you spell it and after that his velocity started to drop. It didn't have anything to do with his trying to gain movement. He just wanted to show people another arm angle on his fastball, the problem was he didn't have any other pitch in his arsenal from that arm angle and because of it hitters knew what was coming (a straight fastball). For the pitchers out there, how hard is it to throw his full repertoire from a different arm angle? I imagine control would be the issue.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 08:46 AM) I hadn't heard that part yet, especially the part where he told Swartz to kiss his gay ass. How the hell was THAT not national news? I imagine s*** like that happens in all 50 states.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 09:03 AM) Guys, there is about zero chance that we sign a second baseman. We are young and cheap there with two kids, plus a CJ Retheford in the wings if he wanted. With the other holes on the team, and the tight budget we are going to be looking at, it isn't going to happen. I agree 99% with you. However, young and cheap is a great trade chip, perhaps one of the best ones he's got. I've learned to never say never with K-Dubya.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 05:52 PM) There was a very interesting quote that stuck out to me: Sounds to me like something was going on and my guess is it has to do with certain guys not listening him, not putting in the extra work, etc. I wonder who those guys are and whether I'm reading too much into this or not. Jumped out at me also. I always dislike the "secret stuff happening that makes this ok" response. Same in Washington, etc. Plus, like it or not, fair or unfair, Walker, like all coaches, is tasked with getting the most out of each unique player. The best coaches do not have a "there is only one way to do it, and that is my way" approach. They adapt and find the best path for each player. My untrained eye hasn't seen that under Walker.
  5. There are so many factors to a WS victory coming together. You also see a few youngsters develop and become big contributors. Those guys like Garland that have career years at exactly the right time. I'd be for giving Rios the position in 2010. He's a veteran and should have a decent to better than average season. I'm also content with leaving the left side of the infield intact and letting them grow. So it does seem the right side of the field, all the way to the wall, is ripe for defensive improvement. I just do not want to dig a hole to fill in elsewhere.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) OMG that could be my HS picture.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 06:51 AM) they denied me so I hope their program burns to the ground in a fiery blaze. I feel that way about a few sororities that wouldn't let me join.
  10. I'd love a governator like that.Which is why Texas should vote Kinky!
  11. DespiteMinny's quick exit, Detroit fans must feel like crap the Tigers choked down the stretch
  12. baby opossums are usually no bigger than a bee
  13. Math and Science is the key area right now, which is why I am in ELA Have you spoken to any principals? Eventually, if you are "on your own" you will need to contact and interview with them. Start with any you have a connection with. Ask them what they would do. You just involved them in your success. Powerful help.
  14. Zoology is an interesting field and you can learn about opossums
  15. I was accepted but never took the appointment. They told me I could not be guaranteed my first choice, and I needed to stay in this geography. The negative that some principals have is the two years and they are gone mentality. You really are not doing anything different than any other first year teacher. You are paid the same and have the same responsibilities. The difference is the support that TFA offers to you. They also have a nice alternative certification program if you did not take education courses and student teach. Also, with such a tough current job market for teachers, they may offer a better path to actually getting a job. Good luck.
  16. well ain't I just a dumbass today
  17. useless to write long posts
  18. talking about opossums, some call them a "living fossil" but that is wrong.

  20. QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 10:25 AM) I'm not saying the comments are "classy." But there are circumstances where a person deserves better, and others where I have no real sympathy. Look, when SNL ripped David Paterson for being blind no one here, besides me, seemed to care. I thought it was wrong. Classless comments have a tendency to be funny. To me, and to most, there is a line where such comments are just aren't funny and are just wrong. That line can vary for everyone. That's why I ask, why does she deserve something better? What line has been crossed? If people have reasons, then let me know. So far, all I know is that by comparing her to Meg Griffin, I'm classless, and insecure. No, I just thought it was funny. We're talking about two different things. People we would consider to have class, or to be kind, or to be compassionate, do not evaluate the person they are talking about, they say the classy, kind, or compassionate things because that is who they are. That is my point. So for me, it is not necessary for her to do anything.
  21. Her appearance probably had no relationship with his orgasm. Part of what he got off on was the power and control he felt he had over her. A strong, successful, woman, who presumably had choices in who she had sex with, would not have given him that feeling. In many ways, this mimics rape, although I hesitate to bring that into the discussion because I do not want anyone to get the impression I am calling this rape. Just the motivators are similar. Then the reinforcement of the relationship is the orgasm. This relationship was simply about sex, not about kids, financial matters, the stress of living, the car repairs, the kids orthodontist appointment, etc. He was not looking for Miss Right, he was looking for Miss Right-Now who was willing to make certain sacrifices just to have sex with him, something his current wife (and for very good reasons) probably was not. Scenario A: I'm home! Great, Junir needs to be picked up from Michael's house and dropped off at soccer practice. I'm going to help Sarah with her homework. BTW, don't forget to take out the garbage and you promised to make dinner tonight . . . Scenario B: I'm here! Great, I've been thinking about having sex with you all day . . .

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 06:31 AM) Heck, I dont even think kids over 18 are allowed on a high school campus, and these guys were at a high school dance. Technically all we know is they were outside the school where the dance was being held. After being convicted, they will need to register as a sex offender for the rest of their lives. Hopefully this will hurt their employment chances, limit their choices on where to live, and in general be a constant reminder of what scum bags they were on that night.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 07:35 PM) I'd be worried. The gay community has a history of targeting anti-gays and beating them mercilessly, tying them to posts. they do kickass. The legal reasoning seem clear and sound, the practical implications may be a giant step back in helping people do the "right" but unpopular thing.
  25. QUOTE (G&T @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 09:09 AM) Yes and all you are doing is calling people unclassy for making comments about a girl's appearance. And all I'm asking is, why is she owed class from anyone? People make classy comments, or un-classy, not because the object or person deserves it, but because the person making the comments is classy or not. Same could be said for kind comments, polite comments, or what not. It is a handy reflection on the character of the person and what they choose to say.
