Get drunk in 2K12
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 12:44 PM) What brands are you drinking? Traditional water drip with sugar cube? I'm trying to lose a bit of weight so I'm mostly sipping straight spirits and laying off cocktails for at least a short while, but the Absinthe bottle on my shelf caught my eye the other night and I might have to allow myself a small dose of sugar and enjoy an Absinthe drip. Green Moon was the bottle we recently drank, but we did it drunkenly because it was just a clearance bottle I got at Binnys awhile ago. That s*** rocks you though. We brought back a bottle of Green Fairy from Amsterdam that we will do the whole water drip with the special spoon and sugar cubes. This stuff Im really excited to try, but we'll be doing it with only close friends since it was pretty expensive.

Get drunk in 2K12
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 06:49 AM) Oh DO tell... Stupid s*** with a roommate who cheated on his girlfriend at the bar then his girlfriend came over later to the apartment and stayed, and she's still here so clearly he hasn't told her. And this girl that Ive hooked up with a few times was texting me to come dance with her at another bar but her boyfriend was bartending there, so wasn't going to get involved in that haha.

Im done defending Weber, he needs to go after this season. Absolutely ridiculous, this will never be a top tier program again as long as Weber is coach.

Peavy vs Ozzie
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 22, 2012 -> 10:40 AM) 1.) The way it stands right now, with the roster as is, this team is not rebuilding. Now if more deals are made, maybe u could call it that. You got Konerko (veteran) at first, Lexi (vet) at ss, AJ (vet) at catcher, Rios (vet in center), Dunn (vet) at DH; tons of veteran pitchers. How can you say the team is knowingly rebuilding. With Morel and DeAza and Tank and Sale and a couple young relievers? Humber/Zach is not rebuilding. Those are going to be journeymen type pitchers at best. 2.) I never gave Ozzie all the credit for 05. You guys make up so much stuff about what I allegedly say and feel. People have accused me of backing the 05 players too much. I support Ozzie cause he simply, makes me laugh my ass off in interviews. He is hilarious and is as good a manager as you can find, as well. When he did the hulk gesture to bring in Jenks ... that was hilarious and what sports should be about. Not serious all the time and teams charging 50 bucks for parking and 10 bucks for a beer. And the more I think about it the more pissed I get at the Santos trade and getting rid of Buehrle. Letting Mark go is very very sick and sad. You do realize that them charging $25 for parking and $8 for beer is what allows the team to keep players like Paulie??

Peavy vs Ozzie
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) Peavy started this one. More later on the other questions. And Peavy should STFU, but it just goes to show how childish and immature Ozzie is for not being able to stay out of a media fight.

Peavy vs Ozzie
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) Clear. But why do the Ozzie haters continue to bash him for "quitting?" You agree apparently one of the two had to leave. It was Ozzie. Who cares if it was with a few days left in the crap season? If I'm to like Kenny again, I want to see him actually make a trade that doesn't make me feel ill. Honestly, no one here would talk about Ozzie much if it wasnt for: A) You bringing him up into every cnversation B) Ozzie posting some stupid s*** on twitter (a big reason why he fell out of favor) And no one here brings up KW in these conversations but you, and you continually do it even though it's been spelled out clearly why he is still here (Jerry Reinsdorf).

Peavy vs Ozzie
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 05:24 PM) Hey the way the Sox were playing, I truly do not care Ozzie left with a couple games left in the season. The organization made it clear they'd chosen KW over him. The 2 could not coexist. I don't care what was said publicly. I can't wait for the next Cowley story when perhaps we learn what really happened at the end. I'm crediting the Kenny lovers. I said KW should be proud. He won. He defeated Ozzie. One had to go and KW won. Good for him. Ozzie is just fine where he is now. My favorite team? Embarking on some dark years I'm afraid, not the fault of Ozzie. A BIG PART OF THE REASON THEY PLAYED LIKE s*** WAS BECAUSE OF OZZIE. HE WAS A VIRUS THAT HAD TO LEAVE. Clear enough!?!?!?

Peavy vs Ozzie
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) I'm glad Ozzie is going to speak some more. I hope he makes Jerry and the front office look so bad. I mean grown people are acting like Ozzie was welcome back one more year, the final year of his contract, etc., cause that was the company line and they say Ozzie "quit" with two games left with the Sox 29 games out of first place. I've maintained all along KW won this war. So what if Ozzie technically "quit" with 1-2 days to go, to take a much better job w/job security? Please. The 2 hated each other. Kenny won. Case closed. Speak, Ozzie. I want to hear more about this. p.s. The difference between the Ozzie lovers and haters IMO is we lovers don't give a f*** what Ozzie says publicly. The haters tend to look at all his sentences (of which there are a zillion) and study them religiously. I took Ozzie's statements as great theatre, great fun. Many of you took them and got mad. You clearly don't care about an organization with class, or winning.

Peavy vs Ozzie
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 20, 2012 -> 05:22 PM) You must be good with your fists, because I'd take Ozzie in a fight with a lot of people. I can picture Ozzie kicking some major ass ... unless you are a boxer/MMA/true southside bruiser type of guy. Ozzie I have a feeling has been in some fights in his life and would not back down. I just don't understand the Ozzie hatred. I can picture Ozzie running away like a little b**** then going on Twitter saying he won, and you'd believe him.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 06:38 PM) I spent $800-1000 a semester in law school and refused to sell the books back for dimes on the dollar. Now I have a bunch of heavy law books I am still lugging around. Textbooks on the iPad is something I fully support. Just check them out on Amazon, who knows what you may get for them (even some older editions still bring back decent money). But Im sure Law books are much harder to buy/sell.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 19, 2012 -> 06:18 PM) The used books are still far more than $14.99! Amazon has saved me the past few semesters without having to buy an ereader. I can buy a used text book from their marketplace for $95 and sell it back for $85 in Amazon credit (which is like cash to me for how much I shop on there). I freaking love Amazon.

Job Hunt Thread
QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 11:40 PM) Hi all- I graduated in December with a degree in chemical engineering and am currently frustrated with my job search. I go to engineering specific websites and look for jobs available, and all I find are postings for stuff that as a fresh college grad, I don't have the necessary experience to do. Most job postings are stuff like "Sr. Project Manager"(which are obviously for the people with 20+ years of experience) and the stuff that looks promising like "Process Engineer" they say in the job requirements that an MS or PhD are required. The stuff that I have found that only requires a BS, they ask for either "3-5 years experience" or "at least 5 years experience." I became a ChE because I wanted to work in alternative energy solutions, such as batteries and biogas/biofuels. I spent all of my undergrad tailoring my studies to this so I could get in, only to now find that the engineers who work on Alt. Energy sources are very tenured in the field, and usually have the "Sr." in their job title. I've only been looking for a month and I already want to pull my hair out. I spoke with an engineer and this person said that companies are trying to save $$ by not training people and only hiring people with experience, and from a company in the same field so that they already know what they are doing. What is a fresh grad to do? Look into non-alternative energy companies, or those who are primarily non-alt. Places like BP are hiring like crazy, or were, and they love hiring college graduates. Your first few years may be better served to work at a place like BP, where you get paid extremely well, get great experience, and open up doors to the "Senior" positions you desire at companies you want to work at down the road.

Job Hunt Thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 17, 2012 -> 08:07 AM) You guys are beating Don up a bit here, jeesh. GPAs are less important than one would think, but if he got a 4.0 that is definitely something that shows he can consistently succeed and is a responsible, hard-worker. It's definitely not something I would overlook if I was a potential employer. I definitely wasn't trying to knock down that achievement, hell it's one that I never could even dream of doing. Just have good interviewing skills Don and you'll be a great candidate

Job Hunt Thread
QUOTE (The Gooch @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 01:54 PM) That's not necessarily true. There are a lot of things that mean more than GPA such as experience, internships, major, what school you went to etc. However, most places look for a GPA over 3.0 for an entry level position. Not a big difference between 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, etc. (besides for some internships). After your first job in the field, GPA will mean basically nothing As long as your GPA is above 3.0 you should be in a pretty good position, obviously a higher one can help but many employers just check if it's 3.0 or higher and move on to other areas of concern.

With Kuroda and Pineda to NYY, does EJ for 1-2 years
As much as it makes sense to sign a FA pitcher on a 1 yr deal (resign or trade later for talent) while trading current talent (Floyd for spects) why would teams trade for Floyd while EJax or Oswalt are on the market?? I wish this was video game and we could make these moves but it isnt.
