BMS is easily a top 3 comedy show on tv right now, I laugh throughout every single episode.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 03:51 PM) 1. Cowley doesnt have a Sox source 2. His agent told the Sox that they were his first choice and would come back to them with market interest. Mark is doing due diligence by finding what the market is setting for him, and Im sure he'll give the Sox every opportunity to match it. Any player doing anything else is fairly stupid imo, unless of course the home team blows them away with an offer right away.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 06:19 AM) I went to a free absinthe party at Greenhouse in New York a few years back. Man oh man, does that stuff get a hold of you or what. Holy s*** it does, I can't wait to break open the bottle of Green Fairy we got in Amsterdam, 70% abv. Cant.wait.
  5. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Nov 10, 2011 -> 01:58 AM) Pretty sure we can all agree that almost every school has a ton of good looking women. Except UIllinois of course. I hate you.
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 9, 2011 -> 12:48 AM) Phillies haven't don't too much wrong over the last half decade. But this and the ridiculous Howard extension, well, suck. Yup, they don't manage contracts as well as they should, which will be their pitfall in a few years.
  7. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) A lot of banks have a "we won't charge you to use another bank's ATM!" policies, but that doesn't mean you won't get hit by the bank that owns that particular ATM for a fee. Any fee that is charged to the account is automatically reimbursed at the end of the month, according to my brother. Same with Schwab.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 09:13 AM) that's not a big surprise really as people have demanded access to their money instantly all over the world. My brother's Credit Union gave him like 5 free ATM withdrawls per month, no matter where. Plus use of their own.
  9. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 8, 2011 -> 08:11 AM) There are, however, the nature of that game is often that you have to use the ATM that happens to be where you are. It's not like you're always right by one of their "approved" ATM's. But yes, options exist -- but sometimes people simply can't use them. I have a BOA account because it's really close to my house -- I use it strictly for bill pay, and availability of funds. My Etrade account holds my actual savings/investments. But when I need money from Etrade fast, rather than having to drive to one of the few offices they have, I can wire the money to BOA and have it the next day without having to go far. I rarely use my ATM, which has a daily limit on it just in case -- not to mention I never EVER use my debit card. Anyone that uses a debit card needs to stop, it's just absolutely dumb, and offers you zero advantages. Use a credit card ALWAYS, NEVER a debit card. Well I shouldve been more clear but Schwab was free at any ATM, around the world. Plus no minimum balance, and no fees. Worked wonders for me. And yes, in the States Im 100% credit card.
  10. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 05:39 PM) Good For Twins fans...not for us.
  11. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) The point is, ATM's actually LOWERED the banks expenses, yet they charge you for this and call it a convenience. What they neglect to tell you (which they once were telling people when they first came around) is that convenience is a two way street. They no longer have to keep their banks open as long, their banks aren't nearly as crowded which helps them in multiple ways (less cleanup, less unhappy customers that have to wait in long lines, etc.), and let's not forget they replaced people with machines, people that need insurance, take up office space which they have to rent/clean, etc...all because a computer is doing all that for them. That convenience helps them MORE than it helps you. And they're making you pay for doing them the favor of saving them a LOT of money on all the above things I mentioned. Note, a bank isn't merely a "money storage facility". They're BORROWING your money and using it to lend to other people, who pay THEM an interest rate to borrow YOUR money. There are plenty of banks with national/global options that don't charge you though. Customers have to be smarter for what they sign up for, because banks will bleed you dry if you're not careful. I saved probably clsoe to $400-500 in fees by opening up a Schwab account before going abroad, free ATM usage around the world. But I took the time to find that option.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 08:50 AM) I don't think there's really a "plot", as much as it's just about them surviving. The zombie fell into the well, as was already covered. To explain why the zombies aren't overrunning the farm, I think it's pretty far into the woods. I'm sure a random zombie wanders onto the premises occasionally, but it's probably too far away from the road to notice lights being on. The constant travel back and forth in cars hadn't been a problem up to this point because the family seems to have depended on horses. Keep in mind that the new people just arrived, so I'd expect their added vehicular travel will cause zombies to come that way more frequently. That'll probably strain the relationship between the travelers and the family. I don't know how to explain the power, though. I don't remember them actually talking about how it got in there, maybe I just missed that part. Im just not buying that the house is to far out, they've lost people already, so they've interacted beforehand, they don't hide themselves well at all. It just seems really unbelievable to me that more zombies haven't found them, especially if we are to believe they are running on a generator. If anyone has heard those before, they are not quiet, and that sound can travel easily.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 12:10 PM) Yeah, the water thing confused me. I'm pretty sure I'd label that well as a lost cause as soon as I noticed the zombie in there. Your gas theory makes perfect sense, too. I think we'll be finding out about the girl very soon. My bet is that Merle found her. They've always been cautious about anything regarding stuff that has been touched by the walkers, such as the partially eaten deer, or when they chopped up the one to blend in to escape the building. Unfortunately they havent paid enough attention to detail in some of those scenes as they have touched the blood of zombies before, pretty clearly too.

QUOTE (juddling @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 01:13 AM) The old guy asked about water on the property and they said take what you want from well #2. While using the pump he noticed the cover on the well with a hole in it. He looked down to see the water-logged zombie. Yea I know, but how the hell did the zombie get in there?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) I think they DID make progress. They started to develop the characters, and I think they did a fine job of it. I can agree with that part, but I wish they could balance that with developing the plot a bit faster too. They have been dragging out a few of the things way to much for my taste. EDIT: And what was up with that zombie in the well?? There is no way it swam there, as I don't think underwater streams work that way. So did it fall in? Which means there was a zombie on the property, meaning more will be coming? I just didn't get that at all. And how have they been so protected thus far? The house isn't that far the from highway, the school apparently isn't that far (with thousands of zombies there), and they have lights on at night all the time, along with vehicles going there a lot lately. Plus, how exactly do they have electricity? Is the power grid really still on? Are they on a generator? If so, that couldn't last long plus would be insanely loud and risky. Just so many unbelievable details that have bugged me in the last few episodes.

Walking Dead needs to make some f***ing progress.
  17. QUOTE (gatnom @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) Haha, man you are something else. I hope for your sake that you're actually a troll because I'd feel bad for you if you are actually this angry and bull-headed in real life. But go on and keep overgeneralizing, insulting, and yelling your way through threads. I'm sure that'll incite some serious and mentally stimulating discussions. You won't ever get that from him. Because if you don't agree with him on absolutely everything then he'll call you a liberal dumbass that is ruining America. He isn't looking for stimulating discussion, he's here to say his s*** and yell at others for being wrong. Which makes the points he makes that are actually decent hidden in the swarm of personal attacks and anger he typically types out.

QUOTE (Disco72 @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 01:44 PM) I agree with bmags on going back that early...but if the company is pushing for it, I guess I'd consider it. Maybe I missed it, but will the company help pay at all? GMAT isn't too bad. Take a lot of practice tests and work on your weaknesses. IMO, the hierarchy of the MBAs in Chicago is Chicago/Northwestern, then DePaul/UIC, then Loyola. (Although I admit that I haven't really looked at this in awhile, and I think UIC has ramped up their program) It really depends on your career path and who is paying. Who wouldn't like to have an MBA from Chicago or Northwestern? I got into U of Chicago and DePaul and choose DePaul since it was more flexible and less expensive. DePaul's part time MBA has traditionally been rated pretty high, but I admit I haven't looked at the rankings in awhile. All in all, I was extremely pleased with my education at DePaul as well as the chance to network (I went back to change to a different area/industry). Yea the company pitches in $5k a year, plus 50% of anything beyond that, so Kellogg and Booth would be tough but any other school is dirt cheap then. I know it's early to go, but it's not because I want to change careers, it's to progress and I keep hearing from people at the company that an MBA gets you a lot more credit as a young candidate for manager. Rankings actually aren't that important to me, because I know its Booth/Kellogg and then the field, but I do want to be in a respectable program and it seems like all of those listed are, Loyola gets more national credit from ranking publications for part time, but I know DePaul is well respected in the Chicago community. I know our CEO went to DePaul for his MBA. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 01:49 PM) I believe Notre Dame's MBA program is run in Chicago as well, and I'd put it below only Kellog and Booth. I looked into that awhile back, they only run their executive MBA in Chicago, and that program looks for people with around 8 yrs of experience or more.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) This is completely inaccurate. He was going to have Opie killed, but Opie's wife ended up driving his truck home and she was mistakenly taken out. And the only reason he was going to kill Opie was because the ATF agent purposely made it look like Opie was snitching (placing a bug in his truck that he was unaware of and funneling money into his bank account from the government, both things done precisely so the Sons could easily "discover" them). And he took out John Teller because he was going to get the Sons of out the gun business and basically end them by doing so. The character is definitely much worse than he started, but there wasn't any legitimate buildup to that. I honestly doubt it, other than maybe another fight and high tension. I think they will find another way to end the season like they do every other season, with the Sons basically exactly the same as they started. Oops that was a slip up in my memory there. Clay didn't have a ton of evidence to go off, they knew the ATF agent was f***ing with them to a point but they decided killing him was the best choice, which no decent person would do. Same with killing JT, you don't just kill your friend because of money. Clay has a history of wiping out people that put him in a corner. I don't see that happening at all, there will be a major change IMO.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) The thing I fear with this show (and I could easily see it happening) is they create some scenario where Jax is forced to let Clay live/deal with him at the end of the season. It'd just be the status quo. This season really needs to end with Jax or Clay dead, or Gemma at the minimum. You just hate Gemma Something is going to happen with Jax and Clay, that's for sure. I could also see Jax staying in Oregon after the hitman goes for Tara and the club taking matters into their own hands about Clay. I think Tig will finally step up against Clay and kill him after they learn of the hit, but these are all guesses.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 12:44 PM) It's just my main problem with SOA. The very best shows create scenarios that are legitimate in the storyline and actions taken by the characters make sense when compared to their actions in the past. SOA is still an entertaining show, but they create things and actions just to fit a storyline, when the storyline should be created by the circumstances and actions of the characters. They've built up the Galindo cartel as these ultra-violent and militarily intelligent drug dealers, but they couldn't take out about 8 of their rivals they took by surprise in a warehouse they had surrounded? And then you have Clay, who went from understandable "bad" guy to a complete murderer who will take anyone out if they even somewhat pose a threat to him. And this all happened overnight or off screen during his time in jail. It's just way too convenient to the plot. I'm sure people are sick of Breaking Bad being talked about, but they did it right. Walt started off as a regular, good-natured schmo, but now he's a criminal mastermind who's willing to do anything it takes to stay in power and alive. But, it works because they have written the character so that he grows into that. His decisions on the show aren't arbitrary so that they fit the storyline. They are the actions that the character would take when you look back on his past actions. I disagree, Clay started as an understandably bad guy, but his history has always been incredibly shady with big hints that he would murder best friends to get his way, and he put the hit on Opie's wife earlier too. I don't think it's that far off from the character that he was built up to be.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) Yeah, it's kind of obvious how the hit will go down at this point. And Clay went officially bad some time ago, however ridiculous. I also find it hard to believe that the other cartel was able to get away. Galindo is supposed to be this awesome killing machine, and they can't even take out a small group of their rivals when absolutely everything is in their favor and they have a f***ton of time to prepare it? I think they are just trying to show how big of a war it will be on their turf if they keep staying involved.

QUOTE (SnB @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) I know I'm a little late to the game on this - but that was the best Sunny episode in ages. Got back down to the core of the show - the group, alcohol, the bar and an outrageous plan. Ive still liked the other newer ones, but yea that one was glorious. Somebody mentioned it earlier but Mac trying to flip the board is one of the best scenes ever.
  25. bigruss replied to Kyyle23's topic in SLaM
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 10:34 AM) Not too much happened, which is probably why people didn't comment on it. It was definitely a set-up episode. I thought it was decent, but yea a setup show, though the cartel is wreaking some havoc on there. And Clay has officially gone bad, though I bet he wished he knew that Jax was driving up with Tara before making that call.
