WTF Shane, is he just trying to do whatever possible to get Laurie and Carl back or was that straight survival?
  2. I dont care about the officiating, the Illini f***ing suck and its on the coaching staff. End of story you f***ing p*****s, enjoy your 3rd tier bowl, and way to f***ing get my hopes up senior year.

The League Usually has a few uploads within a few hours of airtime.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 28, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) I attempted a Rogue Chipotle ale last night. Fascinating. Got some of the smokiness early, then a hit of spice builds with time. Never had a beer with heat before. Not a fan of that beer, my taste buds just don't like the spice flavor from the beer.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 03:57 PM) Radon is awesome, but Thad carries the show. He's a funny (and ripped) Will Ferrel.

Oh and Blue Mountain State is a great show, wish I knew about it earlier but I watched the first season on Netflix in less than a week. Disappointed they got rid of Shilow (sp?) for the 2nd season, but Radon seems to be a hilarious character.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 11:12 AM) I'm in the middle of season 3 and struggling to continue on. 1 of the nice things about season 1 was the tension of actually trying to run and fund their illegal activities. It gave nice depth to them, as you liked them, but they were also giving guns to terrible people and were bad. Now they don't really touch on that, seem to have tons of money despite not appearing to do any work. It's just very melodramatic. It's like what happened to the OC in season 3. Stick with it, the ending is worth it.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) Last season and the current season. Tara is a main character, in my mind. Well they have so many characters that they would have to do a Lost style setup with character centric episodes, because there would be even more confusion in the amount of storylines being played then. I personally think this season has been just fine.
  9. Well if that was their decision, then JR isn't at fault, but I would expect to see changes in the board for ISFA.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 27, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) At present. Bobby has a ton to offer right now, and he's just being used to give Clay the stink eye in the background. Opie had a run, Chibbs had a bit with the Irish, Tara has had quite a bit. Honestly, theyve devoted quite a bit to other characters, it's just last season with the Irish that got out of hand.

Im getting nice and drunk, one of the best college holidays. My apartment is dressing up like the creeps from "The Creep" by The Lonely Island.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) Yeah... it's definitely not firing on all cylinders. I absolutely love the show still, but it seems to be following the same script over and over each episode. The show has been renewed for another season, so I have absolutely no idea how they wrap this season up. Obviously, Clay is now probably the main antagonist of the storyline and will have to get his in the season finale. That saddens me, as Ron Perlman is a fantastic actor and represents Sons of Anarchy just as much if not more than Jax. I would imagine this season ends with Clay "getting his" (oh God, did I just use that phrase in this thread?), and Jax ascending to President with the goal of returning the Sons to the partially-respectable club of their past. This would, however, mean that Jax doesn't "get out" of the club as he clearly wishes. They have too many good characters going right now for them to truly ruin the show. Im just going to enjoy the ride, they have my faith after season 2 and the end of season 3.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 10:33 PM) You are missing the point. Go look at Johan Santana's minor league numbers when the Twins selected him in the Rule 5. I'm sure there were people who believed he would never amount to anything either. Chances are slim he gets better, but teams look for a tool that is already solid and see if they can build from there. In JD's case, it's his defense that plays perfectly in Petco Park. They aren't going to win anyways, so trying to find a player that just "gets it" with the bad somehow would be a decent risk for them considering his defense.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 01:57 PM) Did "Terry Francona" come off to anyone as an Epstein-type-manager when he was hired? Francona is more stat based than from what I've heard about Sandberg.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) Imagine the slap to Sandberg's face that would be. For that reason alone, I don't see Theo doing it. Why? What does Theo owe him? Sandberg's got a good thing going in Phillie, Theo can use that as an excuse and go get a guy he actually wants.
  17. Is Epstein really going to hire Sandberg? Doesn't seem to be his type of manager, I would easily see him hiring Martinez.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 01:41 PM) It really makes you wonder just what the hell Reinsdorf is thinking and how scary it is how much trust he's put into Kenny and Ozzie, etc. JR blinded himself, I think that's pretty clear by now.
  19. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) Like say, "Wow, we really didn't give a s*** for the last 4 years"? I think it points to the dysfunction within the organization, probably mostly fueled by Ozzie/KW starting to not get along as much.
  20. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) This is what I know -- what Preckwinkle proposed -- and here I am defending people in unincorporated suburbs: "Suburban commissioners were especially concerned about Preckwinkle's idea to institute a special tax on each of the estimated 100,000 unincorporated residents to help balance the budget, which had a projected shortfall of $315 million. The tax would amount to an average of $150 per household, Preckwinkle said today." I'd be concerned, too. Considering this is just ONE of many fee increases and other tax hikes. Let's not forget the tolls are going to double, too. 150$ on each household just for that one line item? That's exactly what people need...less money for themselves. Not for nothing, but that 150$ could be going to someones daughters or sons college funds...instead, it'll somehow end up being wasted by Government spending projects or making up for budget shortfalls they should have noticed 10+ years ago. And that's the worst part about it -- it's not even us that are being punished by these f***heads now -- it's our sons and daughters. I get the impact of these fee hikes, probably more than most 21 yr olds, but shouldn't we be looking more towards rectifying the situation rather than still blaming the past? That's more of what I am trying to get at, we are in a s***ty situation and how do we make the best of it? What is the best action going forward to make sure that the next few generations aren't f***ed? And that should include discussion about feeing/taxing the hell out of people too, but be constructive with the discussion otherwise it's pointless.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 09:18 AM) I was talking about Prez ads I guess, but didn't specify. OK, here are the three ads we are discussing. You decide which is best/worst... Demon Sheep Demon sheep is by far the cheeziest. But what the hell is with the drag of the cigarette in Cain's!? Just pure stupidity to have that in a commercial.
  22. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 01:03 PM) This isn't a very valid question to ask someone that 1) doesn't have access to their books, and 2) didn't ask for the job. I can start with this -- how come Chicago needs 50 aldermen, which is a part time job that pays a full time salary and pension benefits -- yet LA, which is what 50x as big as Chicago, only has 25? Let's start there. C'mon man, you're saying everyone is wrong without knowing what is right then. I understand not having every answer, it's not your fulltime job to have them, but if you are going to complain about a specific problem then at least have a few ideas of how to help solve it. EDIT: Sounds a lot like the Occupy Wall Street protestors And the second point is very interesting, does anyone have some history behind that offhand?
  23. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) And I think we agree in many regards, CEO's make too much, too. Then again, my friend is a CEO of a small company -- and get this -- his employees make more than he does. Again, we can go round-and-round here, my point is, these fees and taxes are to the breaking point of hurting people. Those instituting these increases aren't affected by them...but I have to tell you, a LOT of people are...in very bad ways right now. It's just a never ending cycle of increases on everything under the sun...and it's absurd...but what's more absurd to me is you all sit here defending them. And I agree with this, but how else do we get to a somewhat reasonable deficit that the budget can handle? You can cut a ton, but at some point you need to raise money too.
  24. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) If they were doing it on their own, you'd have a point. Alas, let's stop pretending they are. Rham has an ENTIRE staff of people that help do such things, such as "running a city of dozens of thousands of workers and 6 million people". What you said is a joke...because you make it sound like they do it all by their poor little selves...when in fact they have a HUGE staff on hand to do these everyday tasks you're pretending they do themselves. And not for nothing, but this totally dodges the actual issue at hand -- the very issue I was bringing up in the first place. I reiterate -- they have the money so these nickle/dime increases and fees don't affect them. A mid-level software engineer doesn't -- WHICH WAS MY f***ING POINT. Just curious, what would you like to see them do to get the city back on track in terms of deficit while still running the city adequately?
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) Unfortunately, after the compensation is done for Theo and Hoyer, Theo will have very, very little available to develop in the Cubs system. It is already just about as bad as the Sox have. I would bet heavily that they find funds to put into it or detract from other areas to do so. It's Theo's model to build through the draft, and I bet he made that clear to Ricketts before coming over there.
