QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 01:13 PM) Wow, incredible reference. Ha thanks, it just popped in my mind while walking.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 05:02 PM) So now everyone knows how to find BS at the drinking event! Reppin' his white T underneath his jacket while giving the peace sign and a smirk on the face. Pretty descriptive, but not in a good way.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Well yeah that guy is a douche but I like the jacket. Had to give you a hard time because I thought the funny link was the first one, only to see you only thought the second one was weird haha.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 05:28 PM) I may go with both as an ensemble. Really? Im actually quite glad I can't make it to the drinking fest now
  5. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) For smaller maps I love the AK74u but the Famas is my go to gun, unless of course I'm on Array or WMD where I usually then go with the G11. Nuketown I love busting out dual wield shotguns with lightweight and steady aim, easy 20+ kills. Cracked is ok but the camping on that map gets to be annoying, my favorite map would have to be Summit. Don't particularly hate any map besides maybe Jungle. I love the napalm strike in general, always bags me at least 2 kills. All the wager modes are enjoyable, love sticks and stones, my personal best is 12 hatchet kills. I've been loving the AUG quite a bit, and the AK47 is great in midrange-shortrange combat, but that gun pisses me off when other people use it, I seem to get killed by it way to much. For those who arent quite up to the G11 level, try out the FAL, that thing is 2 shot kill close range, and 3 shot kill long range, and can be deadly if you have a quick trigger finger. Order of maps from best to worst: Firing Range Summit Nuketown Launch Array WMD Havana Jungle Hanoi Grid Radiation Villa Crisis Cracked
  6. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 06:52 PM) Where is the assumption coming from that MB would accept a trade? Has he said as much somewhere? It's all speculation right now.
  7. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) I agre with you plus if we need to save money by trading away a #1 pitcher than all we are doing is going backwards or keeping the status quo at best. We are in this thing to win it not worry about the budget. We wouldn't have seen the moves we did if that was the case. How many pitchers are active today that have two no-hitters to their credit? Mark is not a #1 pitcher, never really has been. He's a 2/3 pitcher. That said, if the Sox trade him they will need another starter that is dependable for 200 innings, and that will be tough to get. I could see them trading him, but it'll be tough to get enough value back for him plus find a replacement. It will probably be easier to keep him and trade other pieces to upgrade the team.

I felt like Link while wearing his hover boots while walking across campus it was so icy and windy. Yes, I am a nerd.
  9. Would love to go, but I'll be leaving to go abroad on the 5th, maybe next time guys.
  10. QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) Well, the Phillies have said that they are looking for a right handed power hitting outfielder. Since they now have Victorino, Ibanez and Dominic Brown, as their current outfielders, whom are they planning to replace with that right handed bat. Which one do you think that they would give up for Quentin, in whom they have stated that have an interest? They can't really believe that the Sox would consider Ibanez, so it would have to be Victorino or Brown. For those of you who scoffed at the idea that the Phillies would give up their top minor league prospect, what about the possibility that they would trade Victorino instead? I would prefer Brown, as his upside is far greater, and he would save some money, which Victorino would not. Although Victorino together with a reliever would be closer to the kind of return that K.W. got for Lee. Victorino is another stolen base guy, although he has more pop than Posednik. Victorino has much more value than Pods ever had.
  11. When it rains, it pours I guess. Had to buy a new laptop today because my Dell (whom i will never buy again) decided to crap out on me once and for all. I could probably fix it temporarily, but it overheats while watching videos, playing games, and the battery lasts less than an hour now. BTW, it's only 2.5 years old and was an upgraded model too. And since Im going abroad I want a reliable laptop. But boooo to having to spend more money.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 10:26 PM) They're doing a free 1 month trial of the Prime membership. Students get one year free.
  13. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) It's definitely a summer time beer. It can be liquid gold on hot summer days.
  14. I see nothing wrong with this article, he's a bit over confident but he isnt threatening to be upset in public if he doesnt make the team. He is saying that it is his goal to start in the bigs, that seems fair to me.
  15. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) Some dope called the Score to say the Bears will win because the Pats will fall down on the field. He apparently forgot the Pats beat the Titans 59-0 with a field covered with snow and Brady threw 6TDs last year It never snows in the NE though!!11!!1!!
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 05:14 PM) If your basing a lot of things on the second half of a year, I'm surprised you don't want the Sox to rid themselves of Alex Rios, considering his good year in 2010 with a second half OPS of .686. I'd be down with it, I think he's going to be very average this year, and we'd be paying him quite a bit for that. The problem is, I don't think any team would really give up to much value for him, and we don't have any replacements.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) dominant young cheap closer? Who might that be? Andrew Bailey, Viciedo wouldnt be enough but that is someone I would target. Craig Kimbrel is also an intriguing young closer to be. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Sale is a starter to me, or atleast should be tested there first. It's a shame we have to put him in the bullpen instead of prepping him to join the rotation next year.
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) Lee had a torn thumb ligament and has a wonky back... I'm not saying PK is the model of health, but he bounced back last year and D-Lee still has to prove he can bounce back this year. I know last year guarantees nothing in this contract, but it's how a free market works and PK came off a hot season... there was interest from the D'Backs with an initial offer of 3/30 and Rangers had discussed parameters with Baltimore lurking and it's not out of the realm of possibility that a team like Oakland who has had trouble giving money away this offseason could have gotten involved. I don't read this as a situation where the Sox were bidding against themselves. Lee and Pena have some serious question marks after last season, while I think they were legitimate options we have no idea how negotiations with every team go, it's completely unfair to look at how much a guy signs for with a particular team and assume that every team in the majors would get the exact same deal. Ahem, did you not see Balta's post? Lee put up a .888 OPS in the second half of last year. And ptatc has informed us that Konerko's injury will last his lifetime, while DLee's is a simple fix and will be ready to go very soon, well before the season starting.
  19. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:43 PM) We may not be able to an assume a $130M payroll but we can assume a $120M payroll because we already have a $120M payroll. Kenny said we wouldn't have to trade anyone to get Dunn, PK, and potentially a reliever. That means we're at least at $120M and with a reliever that's probably $122M+ depending on who it is. You could be right about Kenny spending the midseason money now though, we don't know that. Or KW making sure he's not positioning himself to lse value in a trade because teams know he can't afford his starting staff.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:38 PM) Anyone else just get an official season and package ticket sale email from Whitesox.com? LOL, yea got one about 2 hrs after the Konerko official email.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) I'd really prefer not to deal Viciedo unless it's for a proven BP guy. My biggest fear is him turning into a monster one it clicks on for him. We really don't know what we have on our hands right now with him. He's so young...and you really don't see many guys who have the ball jump off his bat quite like him. I would trade him for a dominant, young, cheap closer, or a good, young, team controlled starter. Just a bullpen piece or a mediocre veteran starter wouldn't be enough for me to trade the best positional prospect we have.
  22. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Right now figuring in arb we're looking at right around $120M exactly as we stand, and adding a reliever puts us above that. We could be looking at a $130M payroll in total if you go with $123-124M available over the offseason plus another $6-7M held back for potential midseason additions. I don't think it can be assumed that JR actually authorized a $120 mm payroll, it's been mentioned that KW was given $110 mm. And that possibly could include the midseason additions money, and KW decided to just use it now.
  23. The family just decided to put her in a hospice, Im just awaiting that final phone call now. I really wanted her to make it to Christmas so that we could have one last family event and it wouldve made her so happy, we already missed out on Thanksgiving since she fell the day before and was in the hospital for 3 days after (it was the even that started everything). Thank you for all the well wishes everyone. I have never lost a loved one yet in my life, and she is the only grandparent that has been alive in my life, and I know it's going to be hard on my family.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:07 PM) An .888 OPS in the 2nd half of that down year. Haha beat me to it.
  25. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 8, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) I don't think the rest of MLB agrees. I just don't get how anyone can ASSUME that an aged player will bounce back after a dismal season. Based on what? A hunch? Because people have done it before? I just don't see how you can justify a DLee signing unless it's very cheap, and even then it's not a slam-dunk that it's better than signing the more proven guy. Comparison of down years: Dlee's 2010: .260/.347/.428/.774 Konerko's 2008: .240/.344/ .438/ .783 Konerko looked toast in 2008, and 2009 was an improvement but was only worth 1.8 wins. Lee was worth 1.5 wins in his "dismal" season. Thus, Lee's worst season was still basically the same as Konerko's "average" season.
