QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 29, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) The Miami Heat have yet to sell out a single home game. What a joke that they get such an awesome team. Didnt they fire their whole season ticket sale staff?

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 29, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) I'll bet money the Sox offer him a 1 year deal, maybe with a 2nd year team option, for about what he's been making the last few years, and AJ will jump at it because he won't get anything better elsewhere. This also allows Flowers to get back on track in AAA. And I think that's the right path. If the Sox offer him $6 million a year I would be SHOCKED. That would be about double his market value.

That doesn't mean he will stay healthy. Peavy is just injury prone.

2010 AL Central Catch-All
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 14, 2010 -> 06:35 AM) Now I've heard it all. A White Sox fan who thinks that winning the World Series is getting old? Maybe in 83 years you'll appreciate it again. That's the type of thinking that will cause another 83 years of waiting for another. No thanks.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 29, 2010 -> 11:05 AM) Only if you think the team will sign a Type A free agent. If Konerko and AJ are Type A, offered arbitration and leave then the Sox get extra picks anyway. Konerko would probably leave, but that doesn't guarantee that the Sox get an equally high pick in return. And LOL at AJ leaving after being offered arbitration. First off, that means at the least he could be offered only a 20% cut from the Sox. Meaning, at the least he would cost the Sox $4.8 million. The Sox would, or rather, SHOULD NOT offer him arbitration. He will most likely not find more money total in any deal this offseason as he would in the one year of arbitration that we offer him. Tack on top of that that a team would have to give up a first or second round pick for him and suddenly AJ's value is non existant on the market. People, and I'm just using you as an example because you are the latest to do so, need to learn how the FA market along with arbitration works before commenting on it. I have seen way to many comments like "Type B status gives a team 2 picks back so of course you offer," and it's just frustrating to have to explain it to every single person.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 29, 2010 -> 09:53 AM) I have enjoyed simply watching the White Sox stressfree for the last week as they close out the summer and baseball season. Last night was a great game. I understand losing to get a higher pick but I only back that theory if you are in a lottery opportuntiy or in the top 5 to 7 picks. Losing games to go from 17 to 15 is a losers mentality. Also I wonder if Guillen hits Dayan for Kotsay in that same situation in a meaningful game. It was a great ending. Pick #15 is protected, pick #17 is not. It actually is very important.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 27, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) Definitely seems like a great draft pick. Always nice to see great offense with a guy so good defensively. Let's hope he doesn't become next in line of White Sox catching prospects who bust: Mark Johnson, Francisco Hernandez, Tyler Flowers this year. Anyone else? Miguel Gonzalez was a dissappoint this year.

Root for or against the Twins in the playoffs?
Really don't care who wins now that the Sox won't be in the run. I'll enjoy some fantastic baseball that's for sure though. The level of teams making the playoffs this year just seems so much better this year, maybe it's just me but it seems like that.

Don't touch it BUD!
QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 26, 2010 -> 06:54 PM) I'd be OK with adding two teams. Let the wildcard teams play each other in a 5 game series, giving the division teams a week off. Then each round should be 7 games from there. If they do that, the turn around between series would have to be really short because you're adding alot of extra days then.

White Sox Current Draft standings
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Sep 26, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) if i am not mistaken, you would only lost the first round pick right? if it's a type A, the former team of the FA will get the first round pick from the signing team and a compensation pick in the sandwich round. If it's a type B pick then the former team gets a compensation pick in the sandwich round, and will not affect the signing team. Teams do not lose a second round pick. That's how I think it works. He meant that if we did sign a Type A player with having a protected first round pick that we would lose our second round pick, allowing us to distribute those savings from not having that pick to either the protected first round pick or elsewhere in the draft. Wishful thinking IMO, to me the Sox would probably excuse the lack of extra spending in that scenario by stating that the FA signing is our better draft pick.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 03:00 PM) Easy, big fella. I respect a program that tries to do something new and finds a vast audience. FOX was brilliant to air this directly following Idol, thus getting that audience to tune in... Personally, the wife loves Glee, and I'll watch it with her occasionally, and it really can be funny while the performances are top-notch. After watching that clip on the football team singing "Single Ladies" I will never watch nor respect that show.

International flights
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 11:56 AM) I envy you. I've been sent overseas on business numerous times, and I have rarely ever been able to sleep on the plane. I once did a 3-flight, 29 hour nightmare trip to India on business, didn't sleep once. Worse, I got to the hotel at like noon, so I had to keep myself up another 7 or 8 hours to not be totally whacked out for the next day. That sucked. I usually fall asleep before the plane even takes off. If Im taking the bus back from campus Ill be asleep before the bus even makes it to the next pick up stop 5 minutes away.

International flights
Im not too worried about falling asleep on the plane, since it will happen even if I just woke up. Planes and car rides knock me out better than NyQuil. The biggest problem that I have seen thus far is the dates in which I have been led to believe that I need to fly in on. They say "early January" and so I take that as the first week of January, which falls into that blanket of Holiday travel which triples the price of tickets.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 23, 2010 -> 08:08 AM) Really though...after the W.S., we won 90+ games in 2006 and the division in 2008. Do you think that the bad season in 2007 did that much damage? Since 2007 they have won the division each year, and made it to the WS in 2008 and 2009, winning it in '08. They very well could be back in it this year. I would say 2 straight WS runs in between 2 more divisional championships by the Sox launches them up to a whole new level, not a one year wonder who misses the playoffs 3 out of the 4 next years.

2010 MLB Catch-All Thread
I truly believe that if the sox had sustained success like the Phillies have had, and now with the Cubs faltering, maybe we wouldn't have a $140 mill payroll but we could probably have $120-130mill payroll. Obviously I don't have the balance sheets of both teams but essentially I see us at similar levels if we had the same success as the Phillies.

International flights
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 22, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Schiphol (Amsterdam) is a major airport for overseas flights, which means you will have multiple airlines flying there from ORD or other airports stateside, and that means cheaper fares usually. I've never flown KLM, but Northwest used to fly there direct from Chicago, and I'd bet AA or UAL does too - all three of those would be fine to fly on. Just find the cheapest fare. Yea that's my biggest problem from a half hour of searching, it appears early January still means to close to New Years, so the prices are jacked up. It's about triple to fly that week compared to the week after. I'll have to confirm when I actually have to be there, as all I know is early January.
