How much can bone cancer be managed? Is this to mean to keep if from spreading or to manage the pain? Breast cancer has been so prevalent in my family and friends lately that the threat of it reappearing in them in some form or another scares the hell out of me.

EE checking in... My HS was the same way. I took Calculus my senior year and then 3 semesters of it in college. It surprised me how low level some of the math courses were that were offered when I was in college. Some of the blame falls on schools, but I think more of if falls on parents and students themselves. The education is there for the taking. Problem is many students just don't see it as important enough to invest the time required to excel.

You ain't kidding! I want Jeff B and Kenny S to come out of this clean. Kenny just because I want the 21 in the safety zone. He seems like a great guy, but he just doesn't concentrate on his cup ride enough. I can't wait to see what Jon will do when not on a slick track - he has been doing decently in the Busch series as has Ambrose (who has totally turned my opinion on him - at first I didn't think he was going to pan out, but he has definitely done well thus far in the 59).

There are similar houses available for that price in Decatur, IL (sp?). When in techsupport last week, my coworker and I were having a competition to see who could find the cheapest and the most expensive house on various real estate sites.

That is wonderful that is alive and okay! Miracles do happen.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 07:07 PM) I'm half Irish. I just despise the tradition of cooking that crap. Almost as bad as my dad cooking galumki. Ditto on the half Irish and feelings about corned beef and cabbage (hell, my dad is from County Kerry and cannot stand CB). But, I have to disagree on the galumpki (sp?). My mom is 100% Polish and I LOVE it when she makes those tasty things. Oh and happy-what-would-have-been-your-90th-bday Grampa (a Pole born on St. Joseph's day)!

Tank Johnson gets 120 Days in Jail
Queen Prawn replied to chimpy2121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
From what I heard, the worst he could have gotten for parole violation (when guns/ammo are involved) is a year. So 120 days isn't so bad considering the most he is likely to serve is 60 days. Maybe he will learn his lesson (his own family said he was hanging out with a bad crowd and needed to get away from doing that). -
QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 12:18 AM) LMAO! That is hysterical! For St. Pat's day, we first helped my dad get two knew tires (he had them slashed at the Pulaski Orange Line parking lot the night before). Then I made Irish sausages for breakfast and we watched most of the Busch race. We then went to his mom's for dinner with her, his sister, his brother and his brother's two sons. Rather quiet - the way we like it.

I had social studies from 5th - 8th but I don't recall any coverage of religions. Then again I went to a Catholic school so I am not sure if they would have - but it was covered to some degree when I was in high school (again a Catholic school).

It has been way too quiet here the last two days - I am not used to being caught up...

No surprise there. Lalime was like that with the Sens - one day on fire and the other ice.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 08:35 AM) If you teach it from a historical perspective (and not faith) and also discuss how the other major world religions differ, I think this is a good idea. Maybe after a generation or two, some of the ignorance and hate could be limited? I agree - I would have liked learning about different religions in school.

RIP - his stuff on the Catholic mass was comedy gold.

I have to admit I was nervous going to see this based on the last bomb I chose to see (Black Dahlia). This time I checked reviews and such and was rewarded. The did a wonderful job of keeping to Graysmith's book. Oddly enough, I had just finished it when I saw a commercial for this movie. I liked the guy they got to play Arthur Leigh Allen - just a little too tall, but other than that he did a good job with the small role. I was also pleasantly surprised by the guy that portrayed Robert Graysmith (Jake Gyllenhaal). I wasn't really expecting much, but he wowed me. Robert Downey Jr didn't really have to stretch much for his role but played Paul Avery to the hilt. It was good seeing Anthony Edwards on the big screen. He and Mark Ruffalo did a good job as the two detectives that investigated the Zodiac murders. As for the theory that Robert comes up with, I think he was spot on - either ALA did it or was guiltiest looking innocent man. The book is huge (700 or 800 pages I think - my copy is here somewhere but not sure where I put it when I got back from Philly) which is why I need to go back and read it again as I know there was plenty I probably didn't take in on the first go around. It also amazes me the lack of cooperation between the police offices - I hope that has changed in the last 40 years or so, but I am sure it still does happen from time to time. I was surprised that it sold out last night. Since I had already read the book, I knew where the story was going at all times so it was fun when the director was faking out the crowd listening to all there ahs and screams and such. All in all, I highly suggest seeing this movie if you are into true crime novels.

I would be careful about selling on ebay (not saying don't do it but be extremely cautious). There are many scams going on with the auto portion of their site. Brian used to do some buying and selling there, but after he was screwed over as well as several people he knows that have been gear heads for 20 someodd years, he has backed away from the keyboard when it comes to that site.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 7, 2007 -> 09:31 AM) I think they are talking about running to the ER when an office visit the next day would work. Wanting needless tests because your neighbors, sister's, cousin, had a droopy eyelid and then had a heart attack. Probably but after my dad almost died from a low blood sugar attack (it came on faster than he had ever experienced before), his insurance decided that he should have waiting to make an appointment with the doctor. Mind you that by the time he arrived (via ambulane from about 2 blocks away where he managed to get the car to the side of the road and fell out of the car trying to crawl to the ER), he was having seizures and had a blood sugar of 16. The doctor told me that had it been any longer to when the sargeant found my dad, he would have died within the hour. Reason #1316573548758471 I hate insurace companies.

Glad to see the Hurricanes' GM there (17 Jim Rutherford 11 148 98 NHL Carolina Hurricanes), but the rest are kinda funky, I have to agree.

LMAO! Sounds like their club house an interesting place to be.

Amazing how a bad filing can masquerade as a cracked tooth. Turns out what I thought was a cracked tooth was a stained funky filling. It was the tooth next that tooth that had the bad filling (it had some decay around it). It was odd how much my gum was bleeding while he was working on it. No more blood and it does hurt to eat, brush or floss that area any more - woohoo.

I don't get the big deal either, but whatever floats their boat I guess.
