  1. RIP Benny Parsons. He beats lung cancer and the effects are what get him. It happened so quickly.
  2. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 12:48 PM) And my grandma was literally alive the whole time the Sox didn't win. She was born shortly after they won the WS in 1917, and died months before they won it again in 2005. Similar situation about my grampa. He was born in 1917 and died in 1993.
  3. Through birth - my mom is a huge Sox fan as was her father. When I was a kid, the best thing in the world in the summer was to grab a popsicle and settle in for the game.
  4. Not me. I am a cheap ass - I get my jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts(and an occasional piece of clothing) from the thrift/resale stores. ETA - my MIL loves that place. I hurt when I step foot in there lol.
  5. I was taking some, but stopped as it seemed like it was't doing much. I ended up taking soem generic nyquil stuff as well. Maybe that is what is causing some of it.
  6. Does anyone know - can gums become enflamed from sinus issues? I've never had perfect gums, but in the last week to two weeks, they have become so enflamed and swollen. They were doing better than usual and then I had the sinus thing and hence puffy gums. Now they are itchy and sore. I am going to have to floss the hell out of them this week and use my generic Listerine (labels match between the two).
  7. I just read about that on nbc5.com. What would cause that to happen?
  8. Ours just went down after Brian filled up Saturday morning (at 2.24) - I went to fill up at the same station and it was 2.17 a few hours later.
  9. QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 10:32 AM) agreed. eliminate the policy and let openly gay soldiers serve. easy fix. it's not 1945 anymore. I agree 100%.
  10. I am on to rubber bands for my braces. They are saying it is only a slight correction, but we will see. I am going to be as religious as I can about putting these bad boys on so they better do their work so I can get these stupid things off already and have an extra $100 in the bank each month instead of in my ortho's pocket lol.
  11. Senators owned today. Too bad the Canes couldn't get it done in the shootout though. At least they get a point, I guess.
  12. I thought the bars did if the knowingly served someone that was drunk and allowed them to leave - like in the case of the off duty Chicago Cop that was drunk and killed the two teens in Tinley/Orland a year or two ago? We were just talking about this at work and none of us could figure out if/when a bar would have liability in a DUI case though.
  13. "Take the lotion out of the basket!" Seriously though, it is a miracle both boys made it home. I hope the boys can continue on and have as near a normal life as possible.
  14. It was on the news a couple weeks ago that someone involved in auditing their books said they were not even close to bankruptcy. Maybe their guy getting 27M a year can hack a few Ms off his salary to help out.
  15. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) Sorry for the confusion, I meant purchasing a house just to tear it down and rebuild. The smallest dumpiest houses are going for 150-250 and then people knock em down and rebuild. Hell my wife is from norridge and the basic chicago style bungalow houses are selling for 400,000 and people are buying them and knocking em down and building mansions. Why you would do that in Norridge, I don't know, but there's tons of it going on right now. Yeah, I don't get that either. The guy that lives behind us sold his shack (I hesitate to call it a house) to some developers for $180K. The house the rebuilt is going for just shy of $500K. Makes us sick because it is doing a number on our taxes hence why we are considering moving to central IL by his brother.
  16. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Jan 10, 2007 -> 12:43 PM) I also can't figure out for the life of me how people afford to tear down and re build. I think there's just a whole lot more rich people out there than I thought. We did that in the city (almost a complete tear down). Our mortgage at the time was about 90-92 and the rebuild cost us about 100K-110K which worked out to be cheaper than moving to a larger home.
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) We just got a new Gelati store opened up near my work. Good Times. EDIT: Which poses a question in itself. What's your favorite Ice - Cream flavor? Dean's Moosetracks!

Eventually cell phones will do everything but make phone calls. I had my last phone for 4 years or so. The only reason I have the one I have now is because I threw Brian's phone in the washer and then a few minutes in the dryer and we thought it was history. It started working three days later and instead of returning the phone I decided to use it myself. As far as I am concerned if my current phone is operational, there is no need to go out and get a new one.
  19. I was thinking about him the other night and was wondering how he was doing (they were talking about congress being back in session while I was at the gym).
  20. I understand wanting a raise in rates since they haven't had one in 10 years, but must they be so f***ing greedy?! Why not phase in the raise in rates over time so we aren't slammed with a 26% raise all at once?
  21. Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs just did one where they were either demolishing or tearing down to the beams, a house in New Orleans. It amazed me how much damage was sustained from the standing water.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 9, 2007 -> 11:37 AM) Never heard of Sealand, but if Peter Griffin could own a country why couldn't you or me? LMAO! That was the first thing I thought of when I read this on nbc5.com this morning.
  23. I'm bummed - the Canes traded Kevyn Adams and Bret Hedican is having surgery. Hopefully the defenseman they picked up is worth it.
