  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) I was so glad that the Yankees outdid us on this guy. Wright had Atlanta-fluke written all over him. El Duque might not be healthy the whole time he is here, but I think we will be happy to have him over Jaret. Duque is getting like $3 mill this year or something right? Wright signed for like 3/21....so while I will gladly take Duque over him, I will most definately take Duque, AJP, and Goochi over him too.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) Well the twins lineup is something special... How is the Twins lineup special? Do they ride a shortbus to the games?
  3. How about instead of worrying about all these stupid names for it, let's just leave the name at the Mendoza Line? Its kind of universally known as that, so no need to get Yankee or Red Sox fans confused...since they are confused pretty easily most of the time.
  4. Yes I predicted a trade, wanna fight about it?

  6. An interesting topic has been brought up in the thread...whether having depth at RB or WR is more important. Melikey Personally, I think if you have a great OLine or a great QB...neither of which the Bears have...you can go for a RB in the latter rounds. But I have also thought about it for a while, and I have almost come to the conclusion that they will take a WR. I constantly think taking the receiver here is the key, but then I realize my very own Bills, who have become a run first offense, drafted a RB in the first round...McGahee...while having a 1300 yard rusher in Henry. Given, that was more for the future, but the pick has looked good so far. I honestly think it depends. I'm not sure how high on the board Benson is, but IIRC, JA has always been a 40 guy, and with Williams and Brown both having put up better 40s then Benson, I just get completely confused as to why Benson would be higher. But if the power runner thing is right, then I could see why. s***, I still have my mock to do...f***
  7. Jose is the f***in man God I hope we bring him back as a coach when he retires
  8. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 11:33 AM) I know...It's early. But the White Sox lead the American League in Team ERA at 3.38 & Home Runs at 20 But we got rid of all our power I thought? :rolly
  9. We are good. Maybe one of the best teams in the AL, atleast right now...even though we are beating up on weak competition. It feels good to be good
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 03:03 PM) Cambell is going to Washington at 25 overall (if he's still there). I could also see GB take a look at him. I think GB will take Frye, personally. Just looking at the MAC...it is pretty crazy to think about how many good pro QBs they are producing. Roethlisberger, Culpepper, Pennington, Leftwich, and Frye if he ends up being good too, and there may be some I am forgetting. That's a lot of QBs for a mid-major.
  11. Coming into this year, Jon, over his career in April... 5-4, 5.74 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, 1.6 HR/9, 4.3 K/9, And last year was only his first decent year in April, putting up 1-1 4.55 ERA 1.41 WHIP plus all the others. I haven't seen him pitch yet, but as far as I can tell, he has improved tremendously. I've never been a big Garland fan...probably never will be...and I was never sure he could have ever put up even an above average year(some will point to his career ERA+ of 101, proving he has been ever so slightly above average, but his ERA+ in 02-03-04: 100, 99, 100 respectively, showing that he has been a very average starter), but I'll take it. You will also see where I was one of the first to compare him to Jason Marquis on the board, who broke out and had a very solid year last year after some struggles in the majors with the Braves. I'll take it. I almost expect him to put up an ERA in the 4.00 range, if not lower, and I am expecting more then 12 wins(which is just f***in incredible, because as a full time starter, he has never won more or less then 12 games). Keep it up Jonny G
  12. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) Yeah this is just idiotic to put them out now. I guess they want to start pumping out those Sawx-Yanks votes right now You beat me to it Over/under on Yanks and Sawks starting the ASG: 6.5
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) I don't know who they're going to pick, but I really hope that if they go with a WR, they go with Williams, and if they go with a RB, they go with Benson. And, maybe Angelo can make a trade with that second round pick to get a late second rounder and a fourth rounder. I think taking Nugent that early in round two is sort of a waste, but I'd definitely love to see him in a Bears uni... EDIT: And you guys have sold me on Benson, so, if they do in fact pick him, I'm hoping that everything (most) of you guys said about him is true. Nugent is like a mid-2nd round pick, so if you trade down with the 2nd rounder to a late 2nd rounder, you probably won't get him.
  14. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) in my opinion i think he is one of the biggest sleepers of the draft, he seems like the tom brady of the draft, sounds like he could be going to the packers, panthers, browns, niners, and cardinals Or he seems like the complete opposite of Tom Brady? Brady did not have the physical tools to be a first round pick, but had the intangibles, all kinds of maturity, and actually graduated. McPherson has all kinds of ability, but his intangibles may be in question, his maturity has made him fall a ton(though he seems to have cleaned up a bit), and was kicked out of school.
  15. Matt Jones wins, and I am about 100% sure on that.
  16. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) I think the Bears would be better off with Mike Williams too for every reason Kiper stated. He's a matchup problem, especially with the rules. So that way you can have two slower, bigger possession receivers, which is probably less advantageous then having a speed receiver to go along with a possession receiver? I will probably end up having Braylon go to Chicago in my mock, just because it is too difficult to predict trades...but personally, I would look for Minnesota to trade up to 2 or 3, even though I think that is the wrong move, due to Minnesota still probably needing some depth defensively. As someone once said, why hope a receiver falls when you can guarantee it?
  17. I love the cold excuse. Absolutely love it. In fact, me proving the cold excuse wrong in a post happens to be my only quote of the month.
  18. When Joe Borchard would be an offensive boost to your offense, you are bad.
  19. Don't take me to the bank on this, but I believe the Yankees are only picking up another $2 mill of Contreras's contract, which comes this year...so that would lead me to believe that he is being paid $6.5 mill by the Sox, which is outlandish for a good #5 starter.
  20. QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 01:38 AM) I believe the acronym thing is popular do to message boards. ARod is easier type than Alex Rodriguez. People are generally lazy when it comes to this type of thing. Of course YASNY says the acronym thing is popular on message boards. Afterall, his name IS an acronym.
  21. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) Didn't Hawk give him that nickname when Grebeck took Nolan Ryan deep in Chicago? I dunno...Nolan Ryan retired when I was like 7 I just know that Greback's nick was the Little Hurt.
  22. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) Mauer is f***in huge...Joe Crede will not be running him over Torii Hunter over Jamie Burke style any time soon.
  23. QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) nah i dont go to FSU.. i got to wcu... just a big fsu fan.... wow thats a lot of abbr...haha Yeah I remember. Kevin Martin I believe, drafted by the Kings in the first, WCU alum, even though he entered the draft after his junior year I believe?
  24. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) I'd have to agree with that. When I played little league baseball, a lot of kids put "The Little Hurt" on the back of their jerseys. Did any of you also see that? Did Craig Grebeck happen to play on your little league team?
