  1. That hurts his stock just a little bit. Too bad too because he could have snuck himself into the first round. EDIT: just a little bit = sarcasm, fwiw
  2. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) On average, how may runs do their teams score while they're on the hill? That does have a little something to do with the amount of wins each has. Also note that Buehrle has never been on a team that finished below .500, while Wood has pitched on 2 teams that have not won 70 games. Wood has also been on teams that have won 88, 88, 89, and 90 games, while Buehrle has never been on a team that has won more then 86(unless you count 2000, and I don't even though he did pitch for the team...he started only 3 games the entire year for the Sox) So that kind of evens out. Buehrle has been the better pitcher over his career, and is making way less money. I think that is the key behind this. My favorite stat is the career K/BB's of them... Wood - 2.36 K/BB Buehrle - 2.42 K/BB Given, Buehrle is more of a control pitcher, so he should not walk as many...I just think it is a funny number...the point of a good power pitcher is to use the pitches effeciently when striking people out. Wood has not exactly done that.
  3. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 11:18 AM) When they pwned your sorry ass Bills.. Boy I Love Losing Superbowls :finger
  4. GAH! McCarver Hawk at 50...should be higher, but I'll take it. Atleast it's recognition
  5. He shouldn't be surprised. He is a Los Angeles Dodger, and he is wearing a Boston Red Sox jersey. I gotta feeling Lowe will not be happy in Dodger blue, quite honestly. I gotta feeling Lowe would prefer to be back in Boston.
  6. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) I know what i hear. Honestly though why is this here? :banghead
  7. Well Dmitri Young can shut the f*** up now atleast.
  8. It's one of the reasons I'd rather there be some type of rule put in place where media outlets can't own professional sports teams...but I'm sure there is some type of catch surrounding that and that it has happened for a while. Just seems like a horrible idea from the beginning...but then again, I think the Tribune bought the Cubs in like 71 or something like that, IIRC, and the Sox were the more popular team for quite some time even during that run. Whatever...when the Sox win the series this year, and in big print on the front page it mentions that Dusty has been fired, I'm sure there will be more then a few nasty letters written to the Trib.
  9. The spinal cord is probably the most vital thing in your body that is most easily damaged(because obviously, the brain is the most vital organ in your body, and the heart and lungs are pretty important too...but they are not nearly as fragile nor are they injured as easily). It being the highway for everything in your body to the brain makes it pretty important. If it severs in the lumbar section, you can lose the use of your legs; in the thoracic region, the arms and such; the cervical region, the vital organs and such - I think I remembered that right. It being made of neurons, and the fact that neurons don't reproduce, doesn't help. Being in an anatomy class, you do pick up a few things like this...so I think I have that right.
  10. Figured I'd start this up because we don't want to post the comments in the thread, or so Addy said not to do. Anyways, chi-guy - no Aaron Rodgers or Troy Williamson in the first round? Oops?
  11. QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) I hate Dallas so much.. HATE EM America's team = bulls*** I also hate them for some other reason...like the years between the Twins winning the World Series and the MLB players strike. f***in Cowboys
  12. QUOTE(flippedoutpunk @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:52 PM) nothing will ever beat THE 'stache ^^^
  13. Um ouchies Tough ass pick. I honestly have no idea.
  14. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 11:12 PM) Um, no, they're WORSE than I make them out to be. Outside of Greinke, they suck BIG TIME. Did you even look at their numbers? Over half of that staff had an ERA of 5.35 or higher last year. Lima was decent last year, but is inconsistent as hell (and has reverted to his sucky ways by starting this year 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA). Anderson is comparable to Garland (who is barely good enough to be the #5 on the Sox), but was absolutely terrible last year. Run-Elvys Hernandez is probably their best pitcher, but is never healthy. Jeremy Affeldt has pitched well as a starter in the past, but was constantly sidelined with finger blisters and moved to the closer role (where he hasn't been doing particularly well). Greinke is good enough to pitch in our rotation, but the rest are either inconsistent, excessively injury-prone, or just plain blow. Lima pitching in the weak hitting NL West(for the most part), and also pitching at Chavez Ravine also probably helped a little too. They're atleast a year away from being even considered contenders, and that's if everything plays out well.

  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) Wite, Posnaski does know they suck. He was having so much trouble finding positive things to write about that he actually solicited column ideas over at BTF. He actually printed a few of them. And had one entire column devoted to the ideas he recieved. Damn. There goes that fun right down the f***in' drain

    QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) I still do it anyways because I want to.. ^^^ This is the key to life. You will end up doing what you want to do. Most people want to have a job, have a wife, have kids, and be happy like that. Others want something else, for whatever reason. Some people wanna do drugs, some people wanna get in gangs, some people wanna kill themself. I mean, it is kind of a harsh post, but I am only speaking the truth. How often, growing up and going through school, do you hear people telling you not to drink, not to do drugs, not to use tobacco period, not to have underage sex, yada yada yada...and yet people still do it anyways. Smoking will kill people from lung cancer, alcholism will kill people due to cirrhosis of the liver, drugs will kill you for multiple reasons, chewing tobacco will kill you due to mouth cancer(this one hits me, because I full well know that chewing tobacco can actually lead to cancer faster then cigarettes can, but that has not stopped me from starting up)...how often has everyone heard this throughout their lives? People will do what they want. Period.
  23. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) I should go back and find my "Who's afraid of the big bad Royals?" thread from last season. LOL! Maybe you should make a thread - "Who's afraid of the big bad s***-talking Tigers?" Cuz I am not scared of the Royals, and I am not even close to being scared of the Tigers either
  24. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) A prime example. They just got slammed by Seattle today. Those guys are the biggest running gag in the AL and the morons on TV who claim to know something about baseball always predict them going places,,,,,until about May 1st,,,,,,,,,then they are forgotten about. Please don't tell Posnanski that the Royals suck. He will cry.
  25. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) We're turning into a bunch of qwerty's (sorry couldn't resist). haha
