  1. It is not over yet. Far from it. Pedro has been very hittable for the past month in a half, and the Cardinals HAVE NOT LOST AT HOME IN THE PLAYOFFS. Not sure I see that changing either. This series will go back to Fenway...I can almost guarantee you that. What I look at is how St. Louis played in Houston in the ALCS...they looked very shaky at times, and the pen looked very hittable. Then they went back to St. Louis and it was a completely different series. I still hope the Cards win...but what I think will happen is that St. Louis will win 3 straight more at home(taking them to like 9-0 at home in the playoffs total), Schilling will be a stud in game 6 and will get the win, and you'll go to game 7, and it will be basically be whether Pedro can shut the Cards down or not...if he can, Sawks win...if not, Cards win. It's that simple. I see gamer Pedro showing up in game 7, and I think the Sawks win. Anyways, take off my Miss Cleo hat...it's too big for me anyways.
  2. Well, I guess you and I just think alike. I do not know what Zona would do with Lee after they receieved him, but quite frankly, I do not care.
  3. I can probably change that

She's hot, but her nose is still huge
  5. I don't think so either. He'll be back next year giving signs and waiving guys home.
  6. I like the trade...but I don't think Arizona makes it. They are getting a .270 hitter with 30-40 homer power at 1B(when they could pretty much just resign Sexson and get the same thing, maybe more), a 3Bman who has not hit .250 in either of the two seasons he's been at the major league level, and then two decent prospects who may(or may not) become good. I just think Garland has to be in the package to make the trade. I don't think Arizona would take anything less. Like I said before...what's stopping New York from trading Posada, Vazquez, a prospect, eating their entire salaries plus kicking in quite a bit of cash for RJ? Would you take Posada and Vazquez(for free), a decent prospect, plus money for RJ, or would you take Konerko, Crede, plus 3 prospects while having to take on all of Konerko's contract? You have to consider those kinds of things. Getting RJ will not be cheap...and I have no doubt in my mind that it will take atleast Garland and Konerko/Lee to get him, and probably more.
  7. Couldn't have said it better myself. What made that post even better was that avatar!
  8. You think anything is stopping New York from trading Jorge Posada, Javier Vazquez, about 3 prospects, and $10 mill in cash to New York for Randy? His salary means nothing. We have to outbid the Yankees to get him. That's not gonna be easy. Garland and Lee/Konerko could potentially be a package that gets the deal done(or atleast gets a deal very close to being done), and after that you go about fixing your holes some how, some way.
  9. I'd take that guy named Helton too. He's pretty decent
  10. The Mets? It won't be because he's cheap. This is the same team that gave Art Howe like $3 mill a year over 3 years to manage.
  11. We do know that Lee and Garland would almost have to be part of the trade. Guillen has suggested his growing frustration with Garland, and it has basically been said by the organization that Lee is tradeable. I've always felt that Lee was a more valuable piece to the puzzle then Konerko, and that Konerko should be the one to go. But do you think Zona would take a Garland and Konerko plus prospects for Johnson trade? To me, Garland and Lee looks much better.

You want my advice? BUY AN XBOX!
  13. That could be BUT...I still think we win the division if we have Foulke closing instead of Koch. Not having a good closer hurt this team a lot.
  14. Poker's great. So great that we already have a thread about it in SLaP
  15. Red Sox - 4 World Championships, 8 Pennants, 14 Playoff Appearances Cubs - 2 World Championships, 10 Pennants, 14 Playoff Appearances Whoops
  16. Offenses click when their leadoff hitters are going. That can be said about any team. If you have a guy at the top of the order setting the table for the big guns, you will score a lot of runs.
  17. I'll take that inconsistency any day of the week. Foulke was treated unfairly here, whether any of you want to admit it. He was told that after his blowup against the Yankees that he would be given a shot to have his job back...and he was never given that shot. He had an ERA of 0.74 in the second half of the year, so you'd think that the Sox would want to given the guy another shot at closing. Whoops. He had a reason to b****. I think anyone on here would if they were in the same position as Foulke was.
  18. So then where do relievers warm up? And where are you going to put the seats that you tore out to move the fences back 10 feet? A lot of things have to be taken into consideration before you just go and move the fences back. As of right now, there is no room to move the fences back.
  19. What I don't think you understand is that I have no problem with getting a neutral pitcher in here, or a pitcher being a slight flyball pitcher. There is a lot of risk involved in doing so however. Bringing in a flyball pitcher in a park where any flyball could be a homer is usually not a wise choice. I'm not advocating that we not go out and get Derek Lowe and trade the entire rotation...that is just dumb. In fact, I'm not sure that getting Lowe is even a good thing at all. What I am saying though is that if we bring in a flyball pitcher, we probably will be burned big time. If you have a tendency to give up the long ball(Vazquez gave up around 1 per start), and your GO-AO ratio is below 1.00(which Vazquez's has been over the past 3 years), it would not be a good idea to bring him in. Rumor has it that Oakland may look to move Zito this offseason...should we get him just because he's had very good seasons in the past and he has good stuff, even considering his terrible GO-AO ratio? If we could get either of them for a reasonable price(and having the Yankees take on a hefty portion of Vazquez's salary), neither would be a bad idea. Odds are, both will be quite expensive, and we'd be giving up more then we'd get in return.
  20. Whoops. Still...claimed off waivers. It's not like he was bought with big bucks.
  21. That's exactly what I was when I took the quiz.
  22. I'd argue that we only had one, and he was hurt for half the year. Frank Thomas is the only difference maker in the lineup right now, and defensively, we have no difference maker.
  23. While I agree in general with your post, some of your points do not make sense. Cabrera and Mientkiewicz are not home grown, but they received both of them with home-grown talent(Nomar). And Bellhorn cost them practically nothing. You are also not counting Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek, both of whom I believe they got for Heathcliff Slocumb. David Ortiz was a very cheap, $1 mill pickup for them, and he turned to gold. And most of their bench and pen is just cheap FA, waiver-wire, trade a nobody for pickups(Leskanic, Myers, Timlin, Kapler, and probably more that are not coming to mind right now). And, FWIW...Arroyo is also home grown talent.
  24. That's one start. I'm using stats from over 3 full years. From what I can tell just by looking at his GO-AO ratio, he'd get hammered in USCF. A deep fly ball to LCF in Yankee Stadium or even Olympic Stadium could be 10 rows back in USCF.
  25. Just say no to Javy Vazquez. GO-AO ratio of 0.98, 0.78, and 0.80 in 02, 03, and 04 respectively. He'd get hammered in USCF
