  1. KW makes one good trade and all of a sudden he is the messiah....I got one thing to say to all the backers of KW who say he is a good GM....remember when he was the one on the end of the fleecing not more than a year ago, when he traded Kip Wells, Josh Fogg and Sean Lowe for Todd Ritchie? or when Billy Beane made KW his b**** trading Jon Adkins for Ray Durham? This is that same guy, folks. He's still a dips*** in my books....he'll have to make a few more good trades that fill the team's needs(the Koch trade was good...but we didn't need a closer) for me to change my mind. He's decent....because he isn't making stupid-ass moves anymore. But a person that runs out in front of a car and gets hit by it, and then doesn't run out in front of a car again, doesn't mean the guy is not a dips***. Hell, sometimes when he is walking along side the road, a pretty girl might get out of the car and kiss him...so he got damn lucky...it doesn't mean he's not a dips*** still. In other words...don't say KW is brilliant yet. He fleeced Montreal in this deal, but it doesn't mean he won't get fleeced by someone else in the near future...hopefully he doesn't though.
  2. That was a good read...but I liked this part... LOL....this guy's a pretty good writer.
  3. That quote actually does kind of scare me. A pitcher has to be confident....and he isn't. He says "I don't care." That should throw up a flag, even if when he said 'I don't care' it didn't mean he didn't care about where he was in the staff. We should be worried about this. Regarding this situation though....I am hopeful about two things, regarding Buehrle. Someone else brought up the point that he may have rejected it because he gets to be here longer because he didn't sign the contract...however, that's probably not likely. But I think that Buehrle thought that KW was a complete idiot....many still do. But if the Sox are winners this year, I don't see why we wouldn't try to lock up both Colon and Buehrle to longer contracts....maybe 3 years for Colon and 3-5 years for Buehrle....Colon at $10 mill a year or so and Buehrle at around $4-$5 mill a year....We'd have guarenteed about $55 mill or so to two guys in the rotation...but those two are pretty damn good pitchers. I'd say they're worth it. Buehrle only hinted at going to St. Louis once in his life...he said to Walt Jocketty something like "Maybe I'll be playing down here someday" or something like that.....who says it's not around the end of his career, like when he's 37 or so, or something like that....from what I've heard, both Mark Mulder and Dan Plesac were Sox fans as kids. It doesn't mean that they will pitch for their favorite team.

what has me wondering then if that final sentance is true.. how come they took on el duques money then???? even if we sent cash... still thats alot of salary to take on for a team whos dumping salary..............just strikes me odd.............. We send cash to Montreal and the Yankees send cash to Montreal...I'm assuming the cash eats up about 75%-90% of El Duque's salary....that's the way it was explained by Jayson Stark(who is the only baseball analyist that is a sportswriter that knows a damn thing about anything regarding baseball...if he says something, I'll listen a little closer)
  5. The only negative is the fact that he played for the lovable losers.
  6. Wait a second....are we talking depth chart or opening day starter type thing? Colon is the ace of the staff, IMO...but Buehrle should get the opening day nod. It wouldn't be fair if he didn't. And Colon is only the ace, IMO, because of the righty-lefty-righty thing...not only that, but Colon, Buehrle and Garland are three totally different pitchers....Colon brings the heat, Buehrle is a soft tossing lefty and Garland is a mix of the two. If the playoffs started tomorrow....Colon would start game 1....if the season started tomorrow...Buehrle would start game 1
  7. That'd be nice, but I doubt it. Theo wouldn't want to make a big mistake in his first year, like a certain GM did when he traded an injured pitcher for a fat pitcher... I wonder who that was?
  8. LMFAO! Zach....you have got to be the weirdest guy on here....but you're funny as hell
  9. That means you would be right and I would be wrong. I should stick to the AFC East where I know a little something. You did know that the Bills are going to dominate it next year, right?
  10. baggs....are you sure those aren't Glover's starting numbers? He isn't going to be starting with us, except maybe once a month or so, at the most...if someone goes down with an injury, we'll use Josh Stewart...if someone has to miss a start, then and only then will we go with Glover, and that will be, at most, a 5 inning start.
  11. I'm most pysched about one thing. WE FINALLY GOT RID OF OSUNA. I think I've said that before....and am I happy. We only add $6 mill or so, though we do send some cash(it wouldn't be a White Sox trade without giving up some cash), but we get rid of Liefer and Osuna, and have to deal Biddle. I wish we could have gotten rid of Paul as well, and gotten a catcher in the A level or so....going into next season, that is our only real big weakness in the entire system, is catching....Miguel Olivo is our system's best catcher, and Alomar is decent...but that's it. God, that rolls well of the tongue...."our only weakness is..." and than after that, you don't say pitching. You say catching. This is a team that could seriously win 100 games and compete for a World Series. I think we have a shot this year guys. I think we seriously have a shot.

then kw did good with this as well. I agree...and then we have a possible closer for a short period of time if Koch went down. That would be hell, but it's a possibility.
  13. And then I assume that he was part of the trade that sent Matt Herges to Montreal for Guillermo Mota. He's decent.
  14. witesoxfan replied to LDF's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He'll probably try to get rid of Tatis, Cabrera, Armas Jr and even Vidro ahead of Vazquez. I'd look for Cabrera and Tatis to be gone...they'll probably take next to nothing for those two.
  15. I don't think the Reds would want to do that...they didn't trade Dunn alone to Montreal for Colon....so why would they make the same trade to us, especially with Jim Bowden running the show? Remember....Bowden is the GM that thought he could make a trade of Griffey for Maggs....so what makes you think that he would accept a deal from KW, who he thinks is a total retard, which includes Colon going to Cincy with Dunn AND Dempster coming to Chicago? We'd have to give up CLee as well and....it just wouldn't work out. And we'd be back to square 1....we wouldn't have two #1 pitchers, rather only one, and we'd have 4 guys that have the potential to be great, great pitchers, but nothing proven. We'd have a power hitting lineup, but no major change, aside from Dunn, who is a very good lefty hitter with good patience at the plate...he also strikes out as much as he walks, and he will usually collect over 100 walks...not good. I like the idea of having 2 very good pitchers at the top of our rotation with having a very good, but mainly right-handed, lineup. It gives me chills just thinking about it....along with 3 good pitchers who could be very good pitchers some day. I said I'd do the deal of Dunn and Dempster only if we got both Vazquez and Colon...not if we just got Colon. Colon was the best pitcher on the market, and now he's in a White Sox uniform. I'm liking this, a whole hell of a lot. We gave up very little. Don't worry about it. We're done making moves, aside from the possible signing of Gordon.
  16. witesoxfan replied to LDF's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't think we have officially signed Gordon yet....he has to pass a physical. And unless he was offered arbitration, I don't think we do.
  17. That clears things up a bit....but he still isn't even close to the level of Billy Beane...hell, I'd consider taking Doug Melvin over KW....even after Melvin signed both Clayton and Ritchie....but in the end, I'd make the right choice.
  18. HSC...I'm the best ass-kisser in my house and probably in my school....I'm such a good ass-kisser, I could open a school on ass-kissing
  19. HSC....you wouldn't really do that now would you?
  20. 27 years old middle infielder still in AA or AAA or something like that? I think we found Aaron Miles' replacement.
  21. Holy s***...I thought I could get on KW's good side...and then he boasts like that. So what he basically said was 'it was all me?' Shiiiiit....what a cocky son of a b****. I suppose he doesn't remember when he got played like a b**** in the Durham deal. I hope he realizes that that was only 6 months ago. Comparing him to Billy Beane is like comparing apples to mules....the only thing they have in common is so small that it isn't recognizable to the naked eye(that both have the letters l, e and s in them)...he isn't anywhere close to Billy Beane status yet....only Billy Beane is. Kevin Towers is second on that depth chart. K-dubb's climbing, but he's still a mediocre GM. If we had Billy Beane from the get-go, we would have already won the World Series.
  22. I'd actually put Garland-type pitchers into a different category...they don't throw real hard, but don't have finesse type stuff. Buehrle is finesse....he doesn't have a sinker or a cutter, but he does have a good changeup and a decent curveball. And Colon is a power pitcher...he can go 140 pitches sometimes and be fine in his next start, and that 140th pitch could be a 97 MPH fastball. He's a f***ing monster. But Garland-type pitchers are weird...they have power pitches, but don't throw it as hard as power pitchers....he has a decent fastball and a good sinker, but doesn't throw it that hard....he tops out at 94 or so with his pitches still breaking the way they should. Should we call him a power-ness pitcher or something? I don't know....but I'd go with a righty-lefty-righty combo....Colon, Buehrle, Garland....goddamn, that looks good. We have a sick starting rotation for how good our offense is right now, and the rotation is not even as good as it will be in a few years. We'll be very good come playoff time(assuming we're in).
  23. Let's worry about that when we get to that point in the road. How can you not be happy about picking up a 20-game winner just on the face? There is only one downside of it....even if we don't resign Colon or he goes to the DL with an injury due to his weight problem. We give up the Rockmeister. This trade is still good, even if Colon goes on the DL, like explained above....we get rid of that dead weight Osuna and Liefer's b****y ass.....I hope he gets a chance to start in Montreal....and if he doesn't start for the Expos....then he f***in sucks, more than we all thought. But listen to this.....this could be the 3 pitchers that pitch in a game for the Sox this year. Glover Koch Colon Now put an r in between the K and o on Koch, and then say it real slow and think about. Glover Kroch Colon....or in other words, glove(or grab) her crotch cologne. That's terrible ....but I thought I'd bring up a point.
  24. If he truly does weigh 270...I wouldn't run him. That will put a lot of stress on his legs and what not. He should walk or swim or do something else, until he's down to about 240 or so.
  25. I'd say that we are just the beneficiary of Steinbrenner's goal to make sure that the Red Sox didn't get Colon. Regardless.....KW still looks good. I'm not happy about getting Colon....OK, maybe I am....but the reason I'm happiest right now is because of the fact that OSUNA IS NOT ON THE WHITE SOX ANYMORE! THROW A f***ING CELEBRATION EVERYONE!
