QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 01:13 AM) do you guys think with the phils not getting Matt Holiday they'll want dye even more and possibly give up victorino?? i mean it makes since with burrell one and holliday gone they can use he bat after howard. Victorino is probably more valuable than Dye himself.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 07:28 PM) For how much they're paying him thats abysmal. Yeah except that he's also the best defensive 3Bman in the league too, and he was more than worth his money. Beltre's a good player and if a team wants him, they'll have to pay a pretty penny. I tend to hope it's the White Sox, but if it becomes too expensive, I don't see it working.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) Let's sell high on Danks too. I'm not serious about that, but if some is dumb enough to offer a solid package or even better/expensive pitcher for Floyd, I say pull the trigger. He's still out of options so if he reverts to any but last year, he's going to get thrown in the BP. If Buehrle does his best 2nd half of 2006 imitation all year, he'll probably get thrown to the bullpen too.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 11, 2008 -> 07:19 PM) They have a new GM... Maybe I overvalue Fields a little bit but Beltre was abysmal last season, at the plate. I know he's a good defender but really if all the Mariners wanted on top of Fields was Broadway I wouldn't be able to say yes quickly enough. Abysmal to the tune of a 109 OPS+.

Alexei Ramirez - 2nd in Rookie of Year Voting
witesoxfan replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
who really did have a better year between Aviles and Ramirez though? Just food for thought. -
QUOTE (Disco72 @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 04:38 PM) A World Series Champ would never trade its popular CFer for some extra power.... It's funny and ironic, but there's a little reasoning beyond that, mainly due to Victorino coming off a much better season than Rowand did.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) what, realistically would the phillies have that would make our team better by giving them jermaine? i'm hearing the names Geoff Jenkins, JA Haap, Greg Golson pop up i want nothing to do with any of those 3 players for a guy of Jermaine's caliber Jenkins has no value, Happ is merely a solid pitching prospect, and Golson is uber talented but more of a throw-in than an actual piece, though I didn't see how he performed this season. I strongly doubt they would even considering moving Victorino in a deal for JD, as the Sox would probably win the trade straight up without Philly throwing anyone else in (not that you mentioned it, just that it's been brought up).

it's scary to think of how much better the Sox and Twins would have been if either actually had some consistency out of their bullpen at the end of the season. -

QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 03:02 AM) You're a Buffalo fan and they started out 4-0, I wouldn't expect you not to be optimistic.. I just like picking on wsb for his crazy claims. It just sucks because they've played like absolute s***, especially in regards to turning the ball over. Marshawn Lynch is also looking like a league average starting running back, which isn't exactly what he was supposed to transform into this season. Edwards is hitting the proverbial wall and they need to figure s*** out. This poor play has also, coincidentally or not, coincided with Jauron's extension. -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) Well for one, I have reason to believe he is not actually 20. He's also been somewhat injury prone early in his career. And for someone with his raw ability, he hasnt overwhelmed in the minors yet. There's just something I'm not sold on with him like I was two years ago. as a 19 year old, playing with guys that are 22 and 23 and above, he put up .287/.340/.432/.772. Expecting much more out of him is a bit crazy, seeing as how the Mets could have let him play in high-A and he would have likely destroyed the competition. For a player with his talent, I'd have no problem giving up quite a bit. Of course, if he's not actually 20, and that's much harder to pull off now a days, it's an entirely different story, but until it's proven, I'll believe he's 20.

There's almost no way Holliday won't be a type A free agent, so that has to be part of it as well.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 10, 2008 -> 07:44 AM) Just say no to Fernando Martinez! Is there something wrong with 20 year olds who are oozing with talent and ready to jump to AAA next season?

Twins' targets: Blake/Atkins, Hardy/Escobar

QUOTE (frankiethefixer @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 04:07 AM) i really don't see how the twins could get Yunel Escobar the braves are don't want to include him in the peavy talks how could the twins get him? The Braves have no problem dealing Escobar. It's Jake Peavy who doesn't want the Braves to deal Escobar. -
QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) I think we've seen the last of Horacio Ramirez. He's been cut and doubtful he'll be back. His 7.62 ERA and being left off the postseason roster were just as good of guesses too, but being cut kind of does it. Generally, a 7.62 ERA isn't acceptable.

QUOTE (Shadows @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) Hey whitesoxbrian, what are your thoughts on those last place Bills? it's been a long 3 weeks...atleast I was merely cautiously optimistic -
so rather than winning a series against the Kansas City f***ing Royals, the Twins are going to b**** about the coinflip? I don't know what I would have done if the Sox had lost the coinflip, but Minnesota has no reason to b****, because they were playing a last place team and lost a series. Only after the Sox 162nd game did the Royals become a 4th place team. You want it decided on the field? Then capitalize on a soft schedule.

NOT a new name for the IF rumor's....

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 9, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) We heard the same thing when dirty 30 went to a hitter's paradise aka USCF. Greene's .542 road OPS in 2008 doesn't impress me, and considering I like Uribe, Anderson, Contreras, I'm easily impressed. I don't want the Sox to necessarily trade for him, I'm just a fan of Greene. Even if he was cheap, it'd have to be a last resort move to bring him in as a starter. I just think he had a bad year last season for a bad team, and in a better hitter's park with a better team, he'd perform better. Probably a .750 or so OPS, perhaps better. -

If Greene gets traded, I think a few people will be surprised how good he actually is offensively. -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 01:53 PM) On a related note, i heard a rumor that once Bethesda is done with Fallout3 (now) they are going to begin work on ES:V badass...is it going to remain on the 360/PS3?

QUOTE (Fantl916 @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 06:39 PM) Isn't Cole pretty comparable to AJP with a little more power and a little less contact? so pretty much nothing like AJP good power, doesn't make contact, good defensively, and I think he takes a few walks too. Probably Brian Schneider lite.

k so I finally decided to join

QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 10:08 AM) Would this lineup be attainable? 3B - Figgins 2B - Cano LF - Quentin DH - Thome RF - Dye 1B - Swisher SS - Ramirez C- AJ CF - DeJesus Why DeJesus would be hitting last is beyond me. And how the Sox would get him is also beyond me. The Royals won't trade him within the division, not when they could very well be close to becoming a competitive team.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 11:37 AM) ok,most of us want javy gone and theres all that speculation about trading him, but if we do, who replaces him? all we do is talk about getting rid of him but not the replacement buehrle' floyd danks ? ? if we were to get someone like freddy or use a minor leaguer , that would be for the 5th spot. what about the 4th spot? (im not counting on jose at all) we just might be better off with javy I still and will continue to think that Daniel Cabrera is a viable option. I see him as more of a reliever, but if he ever can harness his stuff, he'll be a stud. -

QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) I'm not sure who I'd rather have in terms of potential, uribe or greene, but khalil will make 6.5 million next year on his current contract, and he has already turned down a 4 yr 29 million dollar extension deal. maybe its not a huge number, but it is still too costly in my opinion. He passed on that after his 07 season when he had a pretty damn good season. He would gobble up a 4/$29 contract in a heartbeat right now.
