Fire Rick Hahn
We never have access to this information as fans, unless the team specifically wants fans to know about it, like with the David Wells situation in 2001 where the team was getting somewhere between 60-75% on the dollar back. Lloyd's of London was one of the major insurers back then for athletes...not sure how that's evolved since back at that time, with the abundance of $150-350 million-ish contracts.

I think I've fallen in love with the Cincinnati Reds
"I just hope both teams have fun" with an emoji heart. Kauffman sign tonight. Just lost Pasquantino for the season due to shoulder surgery and Sal Perez is likely to be traded to TB even though the GM (quite obviously) has no choice but to deny it...as he's the all-time favorite for many Royals' fans over the last decade plus.

June 14 Sox @ Dodgers
Zach is the new Leury Garcia, lol. He's played every position besides catcher and pitcher (Leury comp again) this year in Charlotte. And not just as a substitute, but as a starter.

I think I've fallen in love with the Cincinnati Reds
Keep in mind, anyone beating up on the Royals...don't put too much stock into that at all. The White Sox even managed that feat for one series. Four homers already tonight at The K. McClain and India back to back. Pouring it on. 7-1. The Royals are probably going to lose one of their beat writers by the end of this week, lol.

I think I've fallen in love with the Cincinnati Reds
Shocking, yes. Have gone from Dodgers/Puig to 2013-2016 Royals to Indians/Twins to Machado/Tatis/Padres to O'Neil Cruz last year (Pirates are still a fun story) and now the Reds. That's how bad the White Sox have been this past decade that someone who lived and died with the team in my teens, twenties and thirties aren't even worth watching or listening to a full game when the results are already all too predictable...except the the 7th 8th 9th inning Grifol methods of screwing up yet another unique way. There's nothing more fun than following an "underdog" team with an abundant farm system. Especially from either Central Division, because they're already underdogs (except the Cubs and Cards.) Have spent a lot of time this year watching the Rays too, which inevitably only makes the White Sox seem that much worse by comparison. In the end, I'm more embracing the sport itself than the White Sox as an individual team as we see over and over again how much JR, KW and Hahn don't really care about what the loyal fans of the team think...

Romy successful due to new light-hearted approach
Now they only have to wipe out Lenyn Sosa and maybe Popeye Rodriguez (if he ever even gets to the big leagues) from the 2B replacement list as well...or start playing one or both of them at SS to replace Tim Anderson if C.Montgomery isn't up to the task (or hurt). As far as 2B goes, Termarr Johnson (Pirates, #4 in first round) and Madrigal are the only two 2B off the top of my head that were HIGH HIGH draft picks at that particular position, and Johnson isn't exactly lighting up the Florida State League yet. White Sox need no help for SS, lol...we already found Semien, Tatis and Anderson...which pretty much outdoes the career fWAR for all White Sox 3B since the inception of the ballclub as a charter AL member if you subtracted Robin Ventura.

Romy successful due to new light-hearted approach
Zavala is the perfect example. He's had multiple homer games a couple of times...but playing him too much exposes him for all the baseball world to see. Last year was clearly his high water mark. One thing they have to do in the second half after dumping Grandal is playing Perez 60% of the time and seeing how bad it gets...or if they have to go out into "bargain bin" free agency for a legit veteran defense-first catcher to at least work with Cease and Kopech next season, assuming they aren't traded, too.

Ultimately, the White Sox are better off financially pocketing insurance payments for Hendriks rather than him on the active roster for a dead team walking. Unfortunately, nobody has a recording of someone in the front office actually uttering words to that effect. And coming up next, MLB announcements about how more accountants/bean counters per organization will be embraced, while NASA rocket scientists and theoretical physicists will be pushed out. One thing's for certain, the Hendriks Comeback Story took a lot of the attention away from that 10 game losing streak and 14-29 mark or whatever the low point was this season...for a week or two, there was even talk of getting back into the AL Central Division race and scoreboard watching and being just 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 games back or whatever. Right now, the Sox are staring 6 1/2 game back and climbing towards 9-10 again. Then ALL the talk will shift towards which players are left standing on the roster after July 31st.

Tim Anderson Interview by The Pivot
Good god, the 3B history is horrific for a franchise with a century plus of play.

Athletic fired Fegan in Jun23, now hired with Sox Machine
Better to have a career like Joe Posnanski, but Fegan's (at least for now) lacks the national name/brand recognition...

Oscar Colas - what's the plan?
No matter what, he will always be a one dimensional player. Compare to the Francos and Corbin Carrolls of the majors, O'Neil Cruz, Elly De la Cruz, Tatis, Acuna, etc. You can pretty much stick those players anywhere on the field and they still have the ability to excel...but, no matter how much you refine Sheets' hitting skills, he's going to be severely limited.

Athletic fired Fegan in Jun23, now hired with Sox Machine
Also, the KC Star, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Detroit Free Press and Cleveland Plain Dealer will always have baseball beat writers until they die off completely as media endeavors...that's the reverse advantage of Chicago market size. Those teams don't get swallowed up by the Cubs. The Royals will always have their unique identity, even if the Chiefs win every other Super Bowl.

Athletic fired Fegan in Jun23, now hired with Sox Machine
KC draws much bigger local ratings... just out of a much smaller pot. Oakland definitely has to be worse... but then, last night even "negative attendance" with Sell the Team got a ton of attention and at least their ultimate landing spot is interesting for two separate markets. Detroit you can argue... but same story with KC, and their rebuild hasn't failed yet until Mize/Skubal/Manning are defined. And challenging to monetize any interest back in Cuba...maybe if they had a Spanish translation of Fegan's work as well?
-
Oscar Colas - what's the plan?
Colas is going to turn 25 at the end of this season... he needs to start sinking or swimming in the second half at the major league level.

The Mariners/Rodriguez were one of the biggest stories in baseball last year. Acquiring AJ Pollock probably doomed them by association with the Sox lol.

This was already out there 4-6 weeks ago....about baseball ops expecting complete or major cutbacks heading into the offseason.

6.94 ERA....almost back up to 7. Remember back in the day when anything over a 4.5-5.0 ERA was pretty much unacceptable for a starter?

Well, at least Freddie Freeman is on my fantasy league team, lol.

Benetti and Stone get a lot more time off than any other team's broadcasters...fits the overall team image of going at 75% to preserve one's health.

Anderson slipping backwards again. 608 OPS. This game is going to be a massacre unless Lynn can figure out a new strategy for the NL.
-
June 13th Game Thread - Chicago @ Los Angeles
Guardians now down 4-0 and Gary Sanchez has 6 homers in 50 at-bats. Benintendi, Anderson and Grandal have about the same power production, combined...in at least 6-7X as many at-bats. 4-1. Josh Bell 6th homer.
-
Athletic fired Fegan in Jun23, now hired with Sox Machine
Should be Fegan checking with his editors on whether ANY writer history could possibly have sustained interest in the White Sox...and how they would have managed that, exactly. If anything, he was too honest/objective, but not nearly as harsh or critical as he could have been. The White Sox probably were confused and thought he was being paid to be more of a cheerleader/PR spin doctor.

Tim Anderson Interview by The Pivot
The problem is everyone wants a return like 2019-21 Anderson is on the block...or magically wishing the WBC or Dodgers would magically transform him back into an All-Star as if by magic. But that's definitely NOT the player we're trading...the Field of Dreams walkoff/video game cover dynamic version.
