5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
So much for that deal remaining a feather in Hahn's cap... We're back to discussion the extensions for Robert and Anderson as the only good moves. (I guess Cueto and Kelly/Graveman have been a mixed bag of late.)

https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds They're going to do a death cross tonight, lol. Entering the day, Sox still the favorites. Didn't double check against 538.com/Nate Silver.

14-3 in the AL Central. Sox 7-12. 8 game differential in the standings.

Twins escape with a 2-0 win. 5 1/2 GB at the end of the evening.

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
Two days, lol... Duran trying to make it interesting, 1st and 2nd, 1 out, 2-0 Twins lead still in the top of the 9th.

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
So now we've fallen below the A's in RS/RA...who basically are TRYING to lose to justify a move to Las Vegas, lol. Oakland-Alameda Stadium lease expires in 2024. Miguel Cabrera at his age singling against Duran's 101.6 MPH FB...but not the 96 MPH "splinker/sinker and splitter combined."

That was the death knell for Parque's career...

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
Well, most everyone probably supports the ripping of an aging White Sox HoFer (team, not Cooperstown) when he's down, right? So now you're going to argue you didn't actually think he was/is "done/toast" but it was solely with the intention of sparking a season renaissance for about the 6th or 7th time in your posting history, right? PS: Wouldn't it be better to post that disclaimer at the bottom of the post? And congrats on the 10+ runs for the Cubs' offense tonight against another terrible Central Division team.

Stranding Anderson at 2B? OR MAYBE NOT...lol. Yay, we just pulled ahead of the A's for worst RS/RA differential, haha. Ball wasn't carrying but Abreu still got it out. Ron is running for cover. 418 feet.

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
He was actually pretty good offensively his rookie season until fading a bit late...quite similar to Beckham as a rookie. It was the second seasons that were terribly disappointing. Well, Gordon's entire career, but that's another story.

That might be the best marketing idea of the year so far. Forward to Brooks Boyer.
-
5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
Not if we had three full games to put up those runs without Robert...with no reason to even pitch to Anderson anymore.

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
Padres are going to send them Lamet (who has been sent to the minors, but now Clevinger's hurt yet again) as well to make up for Paddack...

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
Current RS/RA AL Ranks 10. Mariners -25 11. A's/White Sox -32 13. Baltimore -34 14. Detroit -50 15. KC -60

Don't forget McCann. I'm sure he was much happier in the AL Central than NL East.

Restart the retirement conversations again.

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
White Sox RS/RA differential ends up making TLR look like a genius if Phil Rogers is still assessing the team so simplistically . Almost 8 runs. Wind not carrying the ball, a bit cold night game prevented the homer for Kike'.

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
They're going to come up with a full 8-10 verse Nationwide song at this rate. Jose Ruiz next man in.

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
Old teammate Odor just homered against Yankees for a 5-3 lead. Would be four losses in a row for Yankees if that holds up in BALT. F U Donaldson!!! Serves them right. Also, looks like Clay Holmes will supplant Chapman as the closer, and soon.

Best Starting Rotation in MLB
Please lock/close thread, lol. You at least have to be a +10 games over .500 team in the AL Central to be deserving of this accolade.

Trade Talk With Rick Hahn/Merkin
Guess we need to try Yale (Epstein). Stanford/Haber isn't doing so hot, either. Although we really have no idea if he's good or bad...because he's a mirror of Hahn, and you have to figure in TLR/JR/KW as well. This MLB.com article is a bit out of date, but illustrative as a general trend. Of the 30 general managers or GM equivalents in the Majors today, 12, or fully 40 percent, have Ivy League backgrounds. Harvard leads the way with five. Princeton has two, as do Cornell (Daniels) and Dartmouth. Penn has one. No other collegiate group remotely approaches this number. And this does not include the man whose success started the trend. Theo Epstein is a Yale man who was in a leadership role for the two teams that broke the most storied World Series championship droughts in history -- the Red Sox and the Cubs.

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
To me the biggest shocker so far this week (and it's early in Game 2 of the series) is how well the Guardians are playing the Astros in Houston.
-
5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
Already covered. He NEVER in a million years had the arm for RF, so that entire trade was flawed from the very start considering the fact Jimenez was the planned for LFer at the beginning of the season.

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
What's the average exit velocity so far for Boston, 106-108? That one was 112. 54 pitches, 6 runs on 7 hits. YIKES.

5/24 Pivetta vs. Cease 7:10
Well, Boston couldn't buy a hit with RISP that series in Fenway. WHITE SOX (almost) ALWAYS SHIT THE BED after a big emotional series like they just went through in NYC. Can't blame this one on a big crowd though, looks to be around 20,000ish.
