  1. 12-18 in one run games with the supposed best bullpen in baseball... Well, now we're about to get a closer controversy, even though we're what, 11 1/2 games up over the Indians?
  2. How much do we have to pay Hendriks as a set-up man the next three years....???

  4. Assuming they are willing to increase the payroll (Hernandez will be another $4.5 million more, in addition to Kimbrel) and not cut somewhere else. Unfortunately, one can not imagine Leury Garcia ever being jettisoned. That puts your baseline for 2022 payroll already in the $155-160 million range without adding a backend veteran starter or reliever.
  5. Learned something interesting…it was James Woods (obvious connection to Amy Madigan) and not Liotta or Costner that voiced “if you build it, he will come.” Also, original version had him going to a hearing specialist because he wasn’t convinced to listen to the voice. Kevin Costner has his own ‘Field of Dreams’ style baseball diamond As previously mentioned, Costner has a mansion in Aspen, Colorado. The 160-acre estate features all sorts of cool features including a baseball diamond. As previously mentioned, it’s not just an average baseball diamond. Costner’s baseball diamond has stadium lighting just like Field of Dreams as well as an automated pitching machine and sound system. Instead of cornfields surrounding the field, there are stunning mountain views. The best part is that Costner rents the estate. Granted, it’s for a whopping fee of $250,000 a week. Costner’s not done playing a baseball player on screen. Per Cut4 by MLB.com, during a 2016 interview with Larry King on an episode of Larry King Now, the actor offered up a little bit about his next baseball movie. “I think I have one more in me — it has to do with the Cubs,” he said, adding, “I don’t know, I have to get it written.” https://www.cheatsheet.com/entertainment/explore-kevin-costners-own-field-of-dreams-for-250000.html/

  7. No walks? He’s regressing.
  8. It was all over the ESPN tickers the other day, and my friend sent me an e-mail link about an hour or two of the story breaking...that said, it would have received more coverage had it happened in the NYC/Boston market. And Birmingham's not exactly the center of the universe, not to mention a two year old delay in the story.
  9. Some have a theory that Kimbrel had a hard time challenging Cubs’ hitters inside because they were just his teammates…that they weren’t at all scared or intimidated by him. Between that and a 368 homer that goes out in just a handful of stadiums, let’s see how he does against the AL pennant contenders. Still not a huge fan of this but Hernandez has fit in pretty seamlessly, isn’t expensive at all, it’s more the risk attached to having two Top 5 reliever deals on one roster.
  10. 54% to 46% F to M is not exactly a massive disparity…
  11. https://twitter.com/DwierBrown/status/1424852938577653760 Hard to believe this guy is 62…Ray Kinsella, the other half of iconic father/son catching combo. He was also in The Thorn Birds, for anyone in 40’s, 50’s, that should ring a bell.

  13. Grandal will feel left out, haha…I thought the cross was for Eloy’s resurrection to Heaven?
  14. That would be pretty hard to do with Tatis out, anyway. They are looking to play Cronenworth and Frazier up the middle…and Tatis in RF or CF. That would mean Pham, Grisham and Myers will be splitting at-bats over two outfield spots.
  15. Rodriguez? In theory, they have him, Kelenic and Lewis for the outfield, with Haniger traded (maybe not!) and Trammell the fourth. But who knows with the M’s. I’m not going to take Kelenic seriously until he at least gets his average up to .200. Also happy that no Wander Franco thread was started, although he’s hanging in there a la Vaughn in the beginning of the season upon early recall.
  16. Better voice, a bit smoother in his delivery…it’s never easy for an outsider to quickly feel like he belongs, especially paired with Stone.
  17. We are spending all our broadcasting petty cash fund on Kimbrel apparently…
  18. Despite the three homer game, wish the White Sox would have picked up Wilson Ramos instead…oh, well, Sox also have the luxury of waiting around for Grandal to get back as close as possible to 100%.
  19. Miles away from Koskie, Rivas, Guzman and Mientkiewicz.
  20. Looks like a carbon copy of the Indians/Reds game…
  21. Now tied for 20th in homers but only 10 away from 12th place (Seattle at 139).
  22. Reds are closer than 3 1/2. This will be a lot more interesting after those four upcoming “tough” series have been completed and after we have a better gauge on Robert and even Chris Sale…guess that would make for some high media drama if they cross paths.
