  1. If only he could be more like Jake Burger!
  2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_athletes_who_competed_in_both_the_Summer_and_Winter_Olympic_games Ummm….but only two with gold medals in both.
  3. Rodon/Boras would ask for 4/$70-75 million and Lynn at least 3/$50-55 million. Huge risk with health for Rodon and age/spin rate decline for Lynn. That means you’re definitely not going to resign Gio…which most would be fine with based on 2021. But then you’re skating on the edge of disaster unless the payroll is miraculously upped to the $145-160 million range.
  4. That’s exactly what was said originally about Alexei Ramirez, Escobar and Semien, too.
  5. They have the makings of a top rotation with three talented youngsters now in place…Torkelson and Greene on the way, but the biggest question for the immediate future is how much the son is willing to spend as owner, compared to the father. Of course, Cabrera is also a heavy drag on payroll but at least there’s now light at the end of the tunnel. The Tigers in the short term need to deal Schoop and Boyd, and figure out what to do with Fulmer as well.
  6. They can’t afford to trade any starters at the big league level…the odds of reaching October with all six still healthy are skim and none. If anything, they should be adding to the pen and potentially another starter as additional insurance.
  7. Don’t forget Thome for not bunting against the shift ala Grandal this week.
  8. He was at least pretty good for decent stretches of 2008…leading to the last playoff appearance for 12 years.
  9. That would cost half our farm system…he’s their franchise player.
  10. All of these tricky slides…pull back the hands at the last second or do the gator arm thing to deke the infielders.
  11. Keep Seth Rogen or Jonah Hill away from it please.
  12. Well, they can choose between Burdi and Marshall. Although it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world to build up Foster or Ruiz to 2-3 inning stints as spot starters in Charlotte.
  13. Yeah, just noticed he’s already at 20 homers and 46 RBI’s after doing nothing early in the season. Kennedy alone is most likely scenario.
  14. According to TLR’s post-game, per Connor McKnight… Expected back early next week, think there’s an off day built in there as well. Swelling, soreness. Should be ready at Minn. Tigers, by the way, 28-23 in their last 51. Might be Leury or Mendick at third. Vaughn only on an emergency basis. Garcia dealing with a sore shoulder. Hahn and Haber discussing options.
  15. As Hawk always said, the pitcher with the best stuff who was nevertheless always around .500ish or below for his career…regardless of where he played.
  16. Dotel wasn’t exactly a favorite, either. Billy Koch? Too early in ST history?
  17. Lift and pull…or was it pull and lift? Corpseball, etc.
  18. Why only one inning out of Kopech? The ‘ol just being conservative coming off injury thing?
  19. Guess Vaughn is basically slower Kris Bryant at this point….just hope they don’t put him in CF with Burger at second.
  20. How much of Gibson’s success is attributable to spin rates? Cost of pitching talent at the deadline the last 4-5 years considerably higher than even premium positional guys like Machado or Betts, let alone some of the names that are bring connected with the White Sox.
  21. And yet the Rockies had an even worse road record. Talk about a weird division, with arguably 3 of the five or so best teams in baseball at the top.
  22. Indians have a huge series with four at home against the suddenly struggling Astros…btw, Oakland looking to add Story and/or Nelson Cruz to compete with them as well.
