KW has always had a keen eye for talent, same with Paddy. To me, the best quality or characteristic of a modern GM should never be contract extensions…because that’s something every team outside the top 6-8 payrolls needs in order to survive.

That sounds eerily reminiscent of an ill-fated 2016 trade. The only difference is we're expected to at least advance out of the divisional round this time...as opposed to a 3-5% shot at the post-season.

The problem is almost none of them can be counted on to put up a 2.5-3.0 fWAR season...it's a constant game of musical chairs trying to hit on a lottery ticket from year to year, like trying Mazara in RF. Of we could just produce our own solid utility and bullpen guys...we would have been able to save a ton of money that could have been allocated elsewhere.

Vera is much more valuable to the White Sox at this point. He's the one pitcher I would be quite reluctant to trade, with how much older our team has already gotten the last twelve months.

Someone like Eddie Rosario would be the typical Sox add if Jon Jay's unavailable, haha...already familiar with the AL Central and more than capable of playing below average corner defense. Almost would have preferred Andrelton Simmons at 2B for $1.5 million less. At least you know you will get solid defense out of him.

Why would they do anything else but undersell the possibility of big moves the fans are clamoring for? Because the opposite approach won't exactly go over well with the Sox fanbase.

If they are going to go into the year with Kimbrel...then let him close and give the job back to Hendriks after they deal him. The problem is TLR wouldn't want to trade him if that tandem was working together the way they were supposed to last year at the deadline.

That's a lot of money for someone whose best days are well behind him, injury-prone and lose his premium defensive value from days of past by playing him in RF instead of center. Just hasn't been the same player for a couple of years now. Then you've also managed to block Sheets and Vaughn from at~bats, which almost forces a trade for pitching or a 2B.

Meaning…come back in June/July. But please at least address the Kimbrel in the room before OD at least. Sounds like Conforto less and less likely by the day.

Get a SS/3B with more youth and upside than Simmons. Allows them to keep Polanco away from SS.

We’ve gone from #2 in MLB to third in division? Other than Detroit, that’s based on CLE or KC being #2? Sounds like a pretty hot take…unless of the starting pitchers got hurt and we hadn’t done a thing to address the depth there going into the season. Even then, you arguably have Kopech, Keuchel, Crochet and Lopez backing up the top two guys. It would probably require two injuries to seriously derail the season…and not making an additions in June/July.
