Results of MLB hitters this year across the board would suggest otherwise...

Why is that not happening to the majority of starting pitchers in baseball then...? Velocities are even higher this year than last across the game, even adjusting for April.

I’m talking about the comparison with August last year...or even a couple of his spring starts.

The ball is just not coming effortlessly out of his hand...whether it’s extension, spin rate, whatever, before it was popping past hitters and they couldn’t quite get to his fastball no matter how hard they tried. I mea, if you take away LaRussa’s leaving him hung out to dry...his ERA is around 4.5ish, but he just doesn’t have that swagger on the mound since he’s clearly fighting himself mechanically.

Except for the Zack and Screech Saved By the Bell references...Dustin Diamond fans will surely be upset.

Giolito was throwing 94-97/98 free and easy in the middle of the summer last year...this year he’s fighting against himself to get to 92-94/95.

That’s the pitch he needs 15% of the time to keep hitters honest. Cesar Hernandez homer? Really...? Not a good location there.
