  1. Wayne Hagin and John Rooney were the best team I can ever remember...Gary Thorne was also pretty good, although he's even better at hockey. Dave Wills was the best pre-game host, didn't care much for Rongey. McKnight was "okay" I guess, neutral feeling.
  2. What's on the other side of the hat?
  3. Albert Belle, Bo Jackson on the Sox and Manny Machado on the Dodgers. ALL #8. It can't all be a cosmic coincidence, can it? And Mike Devereaux also wore #8 with the Sox, but is more famous for playing for the Orioles. Manny Machado came from Baltimore... And Area 51 is not a hoax.
  4. Do we have any Sox sauces in Interpol that can magnify it?
  5. Bo Jackson 25 year commemorative hat?
  6. We've turned into CSI or NCIS. Paging Sherlock Holmes...
  7. Can someone from SoxTalk reach out to do an interview with Hector Gomez? Not directly about Machado...more like a typical Merlin puff piece.
  8. Kemp, White or AJ Reed fighting for final roster spot with A.Diaz and backup outfielder/s, catcher.
  9. Brantley Reddick and Springer...Marisnick and Fisher backing up. Astros would need to trade Reddick or Kyle Tucker for this to make any sense. Tucker has about as much premium value as anyone.
  10. Hey wasnt the hat the key to breaking the Robert signing? Well, I guess we have to thank Ellsbury and Stanton and extensions for guys like Judge for standing in the way. The Yankees actually have a lot of leverage with Sanchez and Andujar.
  11. Well, there's always a possibility we can get Andujar on the cheap if the Yankees actually manage to pull Machado in at the last second...that wouldn't be ideal, but maybe it would work out much better for the team in the long-term. That said, we shouldn't have much faith in this team successfully "coaching up" players who are defensive black holes at 3B.
  12. Except for Cotts in 2005...
  13. Somehow, my first reading was whether Hahn was game for hanging out at strip clubs...and whether that would help or hinder negotiations. Kapler was probably talking to him about nutritional supplements, ways to make Harper’s hair smoother and more voluminous or some type of advanced Sabes (shoutout to Greg) stuff.
  14. It really is too similar to scallop...or a mutant strain of swallows from Capistrano. Whatever it is, that word needs to die a quick death.
  15. Is this presidential sextalk or SoxTalk still? Mushrooms, the Nuclear Triad, what else can we cover in this thread? Prediction: Machado signs with the Sox the same day the government shutdown ends...with the political news happening quickly afterwards and burying the story, lol. Most importantly, is Penn Badgley going to turn out to be a twisted psycho killer in “You”? Have just watched two episodes after the Kevin Knox shoutout. Finally, M. Knight Shyamalan sucks a** again.
  16. One of the coolest videos is when Passan testifies at a public meeting of the Shawnee Mission District school board and absolutely eviscerates them...or maybe it was Blue Valley, one of those two in Johnson County.
  17. We haven’t seen anything at all about what type of contract the Phillies are going to offer Harper. Just that unsubstantiated report about $350 million, but it didn’t get picked up nationally. The White Sox have had two headlines in three, now four days, on Machado at ESPN.
  18. Attendance falloff...roster got too old, Stroman went backwards and just too hard to compete in AL East going it halfway. That’s not even considering TB positioning themselves as a sneaky 3rd team that would have gotten a WC had they been in the Central. Theyre essentially where the White Sox were two years ago, but don’t have three awesome contracts to deal. They do have Vladdy Jr. and Bichette, though.
  19. Kopech, Giolito and Moncada though are the main concerns...then you have lots of uncertainty with Dunning/Hansen and significant injury setbacks with Robert, Burger and Adolfo. That’s not even counting all the questions about Fulmer/Collins/Burdi. Cease and Jimenez...even positives from Rutherford/Gonzalez, and drafting Madrigal/Walker, can’t counterbalance all that. Tons of potential...but who knows much about where any of these guys end up other than Jimenez right now? Yes, that’s pretty much the whole system, but overall...more down/red arrows than green ones. Most/many thought at least 1 or 2 of the Kopech/Moncada/Gio trio would be absolute studs.
  20. They basically are eight deep...they can wait until the trade deadline on the pitching front. Long-term, Hiura is 2B, Perez for one year imo or they can trade Thames and try to get a partner for Perez to get through this year...or wait until June/July on that front as well. Or simply bring back Moustakas on a 1-2 year deal.
  21. Brewers have Shaw, Arcia off a promising offseason....Twins have never given this type of deal out, other than to homegrown hero Mauer, and it wiped out two GM’s careers in many ways.
  22. And Rendon. And Bogaerts. And, just for a twist, Josh Donaldson has a career resurgence and puts up All-Star numbers.
  23. https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-spt-cubs-ricketts-family-leaked-emails-20181219-story.html Thought this was interesting... Media requests must go through the Cubs public relations. Avoid all media contacts where possible if not through the Cubs (i.e. ambush interviews). — Can talk to the media about other topics besides baseball. — Stick to talking points if trapped in an unschedule (sic) interview. — Bring a World Series to Chicago. — Save Wrigley Field. — Be a good neighbor. — We are excited to be the owners. — Never talk about players or Jim Hendry. I can attest the Rickettses generally followed their “talking points,” including not talking about Hendry, who was on the hot seat as general manager. Chairman Tom Ricketts proved quite adept at avoiding ambush interviews when beat writers waited for him outside conference rooms at various owners meetings. Somehow he would always find a secret exit.
