GT 5/30: White Sox (22-25) vs. Astros (30-19)
QUOTE (fathom @ May 30, 2015 -> 02:44 PM) Even with Abreu, the lineup vs LHP is simply pathetic. Having Melky bat 4th vs LHP is comical. What's his average now, 3/40ish? Would have been safe anyway...in all likelihood. Not easy to play the short hop and tag the runner simultaneously. Quintana getting very tentative again. Keuchel might be the favorite for NL Cy Young right now. At least this offensive showing today isnt or shouldnt bre a surprise.

2014-2015 NBA thread
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 30, 2015 -> 02:49 AM) Why the hell will Self replace Pop and not one of Pop's assistants? Why would Hoiberg go to Kansas? And you know just as well as I do that Self won't ever leave Lawrence. He revels in being a god there, revels in that power. Rose's weird upbringing? Stance on injuries? He had a tough upbringing and was scared to come back quickly from tearing his knees. The third time he decided he wasn't afraid to. And you're forgetting Butler and Mirotic. I know plenty of married couples that don't enjoy living in college towns (and many who do) and would rather have a quiet house in the suburbs. And also, for someone who was in the NBA, I'm sure he sees the Larry O'Brien trophy as a better achievement compared to an NCAA Championship. Except if you won an NCAA championship in bb or fb at Iowa or Iowa State, you would be above God for the rest of your life.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTABLE "I think I might have saved his life. He better at least think so." -- Ventura on catching Flowers, while pointing to an ice pack on his bruised lower back suffered as a result "He has some back issues anyway. He said I compressed him a little bit." -- Flowers' response Www.mlb.com

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
Soto has come up with some clutch hits this year at least. And better at throwing out runners recently.

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
Didn't see that one coming. We might even be out of last place if Seattle can hold off the Indians in the 9th.

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:49 PM) Altuve has an OPS of .671 against righties and 1.021 against lefties. If you're putting Jennings in (out of this fairly depleted bullpen) you can't humanly put him in against Altuve. If you wanted to put someone else in it would be Noesi, and then you can't do the lefty/lefty matchup against Tucker because you need Noesi to just go forever. Humanely? The White Sox are evoking words that belong more appropriately with animal shelters and death row inmates at this point.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) Robin was not pleased there. He took that ball from Putnam and didn't look at him. Very tentative. Afraid Springer would homer...just doesn't have much confidence in his stuff right now. Hoping they will fish for pitches outside of the zone like Valbuena did.

Death by paper cuts in this inning. What are the odds of escaping?

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
Great, Noesi warming up. Jennings is the other, gulp, option. Sigh. Blame this game on the rioters/protestors, lol. I can just see Rongey's excuse stumbling out.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:31 PM) Is this the former infielder Josh Fields? Ummm, no. Nor the former Sox pitcher, either.

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
Please god, no more steal attempts. We would be better off with no coaching apparently.

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
Perkins just gave up two run homer to teammate of last season Collabelo in the top of the 9th. Ouch. 4-1 lead now 6-4 deficit, time in first might be short-lived.

Guess we don't know how much the personal issues affected Webb last year with his mother's passing.

2015 MLB Draft
QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:52 PM) Tate getting crushed tonight in his start That's good for our chances at getting him at least...if he's the new target.

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) Would Flowers be the worst offensive 1B in the entire league? Him or 46 year old Raul Ibanez. Julio Franco can still outhim in Japan.

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
Maybe we should draft Tucker's brother...

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
Abreu hurt? Flowers at 1b? This should be interesting.

QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) Hate to say I told u so, but Beckham HAS to be in this starting lineup! Beckham is so much better than the hitless wonders we've had at 2B. Congrats on the deep blast! Tie game. Make him player/coach like Don Kessinger....with Paulie as the bench coach. Or Moises Sierra.

Flowers under the Mendoza Line now.

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:46 PM) It worked out but not exactly sure why Webb was out there in a 1-run game. He hasn't been good since 2013. Noesi was the other option?
-
GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
Astros' announcers questioning Rodon being out there still but acknowledge there was a DH yesterday. Guess they wanted Conger to hit RH.

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:33 PM) The Royals are the best pen in baseball IMO. They also may be the best defensive team or one of the best. Statistically...would have to look more closely at the numbers. Neshek destroys us whether he's on the Twins...or the Astros. Is Daniel Webb actually the best option in the bullpen right now? That's scary. I realize they just played a DH, but...

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:29 PM) Abreu has to give him a firm toss, not that loopy s***. I understand these guys are professionals, but is the coaching staff not at all accountable the lack of improvement? And if guys continue to not improve, why the f*** are we still playing hacks like Gillaspie and Abreu in the field? To quote the great Mike Singletary, you can't win with it. You could also quote greg. The Astros of course have the best bullpen in the NL, if not all of MLB.

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
Has there ever been a worse White Sox defense? I don't think so....unless it was one of those 1977-1980 teams. And they had Mike Squires and Chet Lemon at least.
