  1. I'm really done with Ozzie after this. No reason to even bother with a new thread, all the Sox boards are slowly becoming ghost towns....nobody left to read them. There might be more interest in where LeBron James ends up eventually or the FIFA WORLD CUP than this White Sox team.
  2. Do we actually hope for a Royals' sweep? LOL. Everyone on the field and in the dugout not noticing Josh Hamilton hadn't tagged up, costing the Royals 2 runs eventually, is what cost Hillman his job in the end, along with Hillman fining Betancourt for missing a pop fly. That would put us at 9 games under .500 and tied for last place w/the Royals.
  3. We now have the most boring team in MLB. At least the Royals have a new manager, and the Orioles have their minor league pitching depth, the Indians at least have all their youth from their trades of V-Mart, DeRosa, Sabathia, Cliff Lee, etc. How do you not go the pen? There's just no sense of urgency to actually win games, especially considering the fact that the Twins are losing.

  5. Luckily I went out and got drunk last night, so I was able to miss the first 6-7 innings of this snoozefest by sleeping through my alarm. Jesus, our offense sucks. But I'm sure Hawk said we have to tip our caps to the opposing pitcher, even if it's Bergesen or Eveland.

Now maybe Cooper or Walker or any number of candidates could do a better job strategically, but it's really hard to find someone who loves putting on that White Sox uniform more than Guillen. And to find someone who can understand and motivate each player individually, to press the right buttons a the right time. Whether Guillen has "lost" the Sox or not (and I don't think he has), it was clear that Hillman lost the Royals a LONG LONG time ago. Maybe Ozzie with an almost completely new cast of players will be able to get things turned around again. I would much rather try with Ozzie than someone like Buddy Bell, that's for sure.

    Alfred Molina and Carey Mulligan are excellent in that one, same with Skaarsgard (CREEPY!) I don't know if I buy the Audrey Hepburn comparisons just yet, but I can see where they're coming from...she does have a presence that someone like Jennifer Love Hewitt can only dream about conjuring up.

The one justification given for 3B was his arm strength, and reports he was timed at 89-92 MPH by various guns at tryouts. 1B, because of his height and being RH'ed, maybe not a natural fit either. I'm thinking LF. As long as we don't have Teahen, Viciedo, Josh Fields and Alex Gordon all trying to defend positions, our future D should be okay. Well, actually Gordon would be fine with me as a "speculative" replacement for Konerko at 1B. Definitely, I'd take him in a heartbeat over Teahen at 3B. Speaking of Royals/Sox trades, whatever happened to Tyler Lumsden and Daniel Cortes, those guys didn't work out so well, did they? It seems Cortes was a Top 40-60 prospect not so long ago, and now you never hear about him.

    Letters from Juliet Robin Hood Prince of Persia Which movie, if any, will get your movie-going dollars in the weeks ahead? At first I thought I would like Crowe in Robin Hood, but they're trying to go all dark, like Daniel Craig Bond and Matt Damon Bourne, and it's getting tiresome with all these reboot copycats, maybe it started with Batman Begins. So the real question will be which is the biggest box office disaster, the Costner or Crowe version? Women will want to drag you to the chick flick, of course. It's bad enough with 2-3 releases of Nicholas Sparks movies every year. Then there's EAT LOVE PRAY coming out w/ Julia Roberts. BE VERY AFRAID of that one. I don't really play video games, but some of the reviews I've read of "PERSIA" have been pretty good. Gemma Atherton's hot, so I'll definitely check it out, even if not a big Gyllenhaal fan (like his sister more, especially CRAZY HEART). Has anyone seen THE MESSENGER yet? Worth checking out? If someone has seen BABIES, I hope they don't admit it here.... And remember the "it's hilarious!" comment about IT'S COMPLICATED. Whoever wrote that, they should be b****-slapped by Flavour Flav and Willie Harris. Joking. Well, sort of.
  13. Just because it was one of those Renaissance Fair tops that was crowding her boobies in and smushing them down, lol. As long as SouthSideDon doesn't add Nancy Faust, I'll be okay. Some of his choices, questionable, but that's the beauty of beauty...totally subjective, in the eye of the beholder, as they say.
  14. Maybe you're right...I went to another website and it's hard to make a definitive adjustment. OTOH, beware the "early" plastic surgery these days. Most of my students (international high school) back in Colombia already had a boob job, nose job (to help with their breathing, lol...that was the reason always given), liposuction, ears pinned back and "shaped," double eyelid, you name it....before they turned 18. In fact, the girl in my avatar today is the perfect example. She went from an A to D or DD, I saw her one year after we were dating and she said it was from eating right, exercise and drinking milk!!!! No girl in history has gone up 2-3 cup sizes after age 20 that I have ever heard of. Not saying this is the case with her, but anything's possible these days.

  21. I remember when everyone was feeling a bit guilty talking about Hayden Panetierre 2-3 years ago, while her "minor" status was changing. Not that pretty to me. As far as Don's "Robert DeNiro-esque" ethnic girls, I think Gabrielle Union in the movie "Cradle to the Grave" with Jet Li is super-hot. Can't go wrong with Eva Mendes, either, always been a big fan of hers. As for Asian girls (haven't discussed this one here), I'll go with Zhang Ziyi, Gong Li (if you're going for the 35ish looking "cougar" who's much closer to 50), Tang Wei (just check out the movie Lust/Caution "Xi Jie" by ANG LEE), Lin Chiling from Taiwan, Selena Ren from the Taiwanese girl-group S.H.E., any of the members of GIRLS GENERATION (my personal favorite is Su Young Choi because of her unbelieveable legs), Wonder Girls (fading a bit in my estimation), Jamie Chung (ex Real World, she has been in a few movies now like Dragonball), Shu Qi (she was in the first Transporter movie), Michelle Wie (I know someone will argue this with me, it's like Don's Serena Williams pick), Sora Aoi, Maria Ozawa, to start out with, just off the top of my head... http://www.chinese-tools.com/china/crazy/2...tiful-legs.html These two sisters, if you look past all the make-up covering their faces (seems both had a lot of acne/skin problems when they were younger), are just average in appearance...but those LEGS, wow!

  24. Which is why ARIZ was willing to part with him for Carter, despite his sterling minor league numbers....that and the injury-bug reputation. Well, I'm still not quite ready to go to Fathom's declaration that I'd rather have C. Carter back (instead of Quentin), but the pendulum is definitely swinging. Certainly, we owe the 2008 ALCD at least 20-25% to Quentin's monster year. C. Carter would/could/might be ONE big piece of the puzzle, but unless he's going to put up a 900+ OPS right out of the gate, I wouldn't expect that his presence on the current roster would have made any difference at all, unless he could have played 3B or magically morphed into a LHB who could take plate appearances away from TMK.

Our Royals are a manic depressed bunch of dudes. One year our bullpen is Ok then they blow and our starters are OK. Please put it together one time. The only way I see the Royals winning is by spending more on FA acquisitions. The long-term benefit of this move was zero from the beginning, and the short-term benefit has been ABSOLUTE ZERO from the get-go.
