Vargas and Fletcher have to play . . . be given every chance to succeed . . . Right?
He might even be best at second. But then we also have Sosa, Meidroth Baldwin, Mr. #1 draft pick teetering on bust...none of those guys sticking wouldn't be the least bit surprising, regardless of theoretical Steamer projections.

24-25 NFL Thread
You're doubting Stroud a bit now? Ofc you have Lawrence...Tua...Dak, Watson, Murray, essentially Burrow, Herbert and Love seem fine for now, but really such an inexact science. Aren't Flacco/Stafford/R.Wilson the only QB's other than Brady or Mahomes to ever win a Super Bowl...all those others drafted since 2010 haven't won a single one? Ofc Darnold's and to lesser extent Mayfield's success is always going to be the counter here about being patient with young QBs....right place right time right support system. Even the Carolina QB dilemma might be turning.

Gleyber Torres signs with DET
Being reported by Mlb.com that Detroit also wants Bregman Santander or HaSeong Kim in that order after Torres signing. Josh Bell for $6 million/1 year to Nats. Andrew Vaughn stans and detractors react...with mostly apathy.

Not sure one rookie QB looks as good as Daniels Nix Maye Penix next year. Not buying the Sanders hype here.

See Eaton, Adam in CF vs. RF.

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
https://cubsinsider.com/2022/11/30/cubs-other-mlb-teams-reap-another-30m-each-from-bamtech-sale/ Looks like at least $113 million per team....in total over at least three separate installments/payments.

Schriffen does it again...
The difference is that Harrelson was a former big leaguer...and that was more of a "paternalistic" concern, versus a non-athlete trying to ingratiate himself with the players by hanging out with them. Plus Harrelson obviously golfed a lot with the players during the course of the season as well. There's a lot of camaraderie we don't ever see that takes place on the course.

Roki Sasaki Free Agency - Dodgers vs Blue Jays for Roki's heart
Isn't that the old motto for EF Hutton almost...?

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
That was $48 million per team for BAM Tech but just a one shot deal.

Trade him (Cannon) to the Orioles lol. Actually, Davis Martin would be a much better fit.

Schriffen does it again...
Not to mention he thought Pham was his "bro" but in the end Tommy made fun of him upon leaving for always hanging around the players/clubhouse.

Corbin Burnes signs with D-backs
I think it's a bit ridiculous to be writing off Elias at this point in the offseason. There's inevitably going to be some "bargain" veterans pitchers of the Chris Flexen variety that can hold down the fort at the #5 spot for a pittance of resources. It happens coming into every spring training. Also, remember Flaherty's still an option for the Orioles (despite under-performing his first go-around) because there's no draft pick attached to his free agency. Finally, Max Scherzer's lurking out there as well, and a team like BALT would be perfect for him...one would think. https://www.mlb.com/news/jack-flaherty-rumors Highest wRC+ in 2024, among hitters in 2024-25 FA class: Minimum 400 PAs Juan Soto: 180 Joc Pederson: 151 Jurickson Profar: 139 Teoscar Hernández: 134 Tyler O’Neill: 131

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
Still think it's a complete joke the Cardinals are eligible for Competitive Balance compensation. And the DBacks just spent over $200 million on Burnes. Finally, Miami is a large market by definition. Round A Brewers Tigers Mariners Twins Rays Reds Athletics Marlins Round B Guardians Orioles D-backs Royals Cardinals Pirates Rockies

Doesn't that include all their minor league operations, coaches/instructors/scouts, travel, per diem/hotels, etc.??

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
Apr 18, 2024 · Teams that meet the criteria to be classified as big-market are not eligible for revenue-sharing, no matter what their revenue situation. As for .. The White Sox received a Lottery pick in the 2024 Draft, and they are a “payor club” -- a team that gives rather than receives revenue sharing dollars; those clubs are not allowed to have consecutive Lottery picks.”

Corbin Burnes signs with D-backs
Isn't he originally from California, and that's why the Giants were considered at one point another favorite in signing him?

Corbin Burnes signs with D-backs
Castillo is due roughly $100 million, including a vesting option based on innings pitched, over the next four years. That seems like a relative bargain on today's market. Talentwise, clearly you go with Castillo. Unless you invested all your savings into solidifying that offense and counting on a Rodriguez return to form season.

Roki Sasaki Free Agency - Dodgers vs Blue Jays for Roki's heart

You're overlooking the key point of how the Sox' ineptitude could end up pushing all four AL Central divisional rivals into the post season in 2025.

Corbin Burnes signs with D-backs
Hopefully this goes much better than the Bumgarner deal... (And Colorado might as well drop out of the NL West.) But Elias has Sugano now as a replacement.

Get those tickets NOW! (LOL)...
Just modern-day, repackaged Bill Veeck and son...but still more entertaining the first time around than another 100+ loss Sox season without a star in sighr. The second iteration of something unique like that (Bananas) is always going to be a pure money grab, like Squid Game 2.

Teoscar Hernandez signs with the Dodgers
George Steinbrenner owned the Yankees 38 years, from 1973 until his death in 2010. He was the longest-serving owner in club history, and the Yankees won seven World Series championships and 11 American League pennants under his ownership. LA Dodgers now have four of the last eight NL pennants and two World Series titles (asterisk attached) in the 12 years since the Guggenheim Group took over in 2013.
