  1. "pushing out popular play-by-play announcer Jason Benetti after the horrific 2023 season because he didn't genuflect enough and had the gall to feature analytics in his broadcasts!" This situation always seemed more about his popularity/ego growing, symbolized by his perceived "lack of cultural refinement" in eating concessions items on-air (compared to so called ”elites" such as Hahn/Boyer/Haber), daring to ask for so many days off for FOX college football...maybe it was simply the assumption he would be treated loyally as a part of the Sox "family," just it wasn't JR's preferred family of ex Sox connected players/coaches. Jason genuinely grew up as a real/true/genuine/authentic Sox fan and that still wasn't good enough in the end. And that of course dovetails with how the "average" middle class Sox fan has been treated by JR, especially for the last let's say 15 years or so now...after the core of the 2005 championship team melted/faded away. If anything, Benetti didn't delve deeply enough into the type of analytics younger fans seem to enjoy most...partially out of a desire to stay on Steve Stone's good side...which also became increasingly difficult as the play on the field eroded. Finally, just don't think that JR enjoyed Benetti's sense of humor and constant cultural/entertainment references that were harder for him to "get" being from such a different generation.
  2. Seems that former Sox starting pitchers are doing about as poorly as those relievers are mostly thriving in the post season.
  3. Your Campfire Milkshake brings
  4. Gleyber Torres is the one with the lazy play in the first place…blaming Rizzo for its pretty rich.
  5. Four seam fastball and hadn't pitched since Sept 18th... Boone just said it was going to be hard to double up Ohtani w/ Tim Hill likely to induce a ground ball...
  6. Gotta be kidding me. Kirk Gibson II 36 years later...1988 WS.
  7. Uribe-esque catch there...Jeter, etc. Ohtani out. Second and third. Should have tied the game. Pitch to Betts? Nah Freeman. Bases loaded.
  8. Should have been first and third if not for the slip on the base paths by Lux... Chris Taylor in as a pinch runner. Cortes pitching against doctor's advice...fwiw.
  9. First Penn alumni since 1912 in World Series...Jake Cousins
  10. Jake Cousins to close it out? Getz slight misfire there...how much cash did JR get back? Not enough to erase Maldonado. Lux's lack of stellar defensive instincts showing up as well this inning. Dodgers left two runners on third with one out in the late innings as well. Of course Edman and Ohtani due. Cortes and ex Sox Tim Hill warming.
  11. Can't give Chisholm two easy stolen bases. Now three in one inning...latest by Volpe.
  12. THernandez Muncy k*** W.Smith Lux due up...
  13. Edman Kopech Kahnle...Sox fingerprints all over. Treinen slider vs. Judge coming.
  14. Edman just saved a run. 2-1 NYY lead on a massive Stanton homer that was higher than the light stanchions.
  15. So much for the death of starting pitching Greg.
  16. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/41989757/dodgers-jack-flaherty-attributes-velocity-dip-timing-issue Considering he's velo current #4 FA pitching option...not the greatest timing for Flaherty to lose velo

  18. Honestly...keeping Sizemore would probably poll as a more popular move with what's left of the fanbase than hiring Phil Nevin.
  19. So that’s all any scuttle about the Jerry selling is gonna be: Leverage. You’ll miss me when I’m gone (to NASHVILLE, snort). Sure, if a megabillionaire wants to fly into Chicago and offer Jerry 150% of what the team is worth, covering what his family loses selling vs. inheriting his White Sox, sure, yeah, he might sell. He’s old, and his team is years away from getting back to the top of the division. Don’t let your anger toward Reinsdorf cloud what is a playbook move — if there’s been a move at all (don’t forget this is all tweet wrapped inside of a feeling in hearsay reporting at this point). Jerry may truly believe that the one thing that will outlive him isn’t Championship Plaza outside of the current park but The 78, a presumed marvel of locale and fan experience. And if we get past his enormous and offensive ask of a billion dollars from a state that can’t and shouldn’t afford it and recognize it as another negotiation ploy, Reinsdorf is probably right. The 78 would long outlive him or memories of 2005 (well, it would live until a new park in The 79 is built in 2080). https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/so-jerry-reinsdorf-is-going-to-sell-the-white-sox-and-lose-millions-for-his-family-and-send-a-125-year-old-team-to-nashville-of-all-places-at-the-same-time-he-s-building-his-sandlot-field-in-the-78-got-it/ar-AA1svY3o
  20. Could that area near Kauffman and Arrowhead that had like a Red Roof Inn and a Taco Bell once upon a time look like a destination zone? Not likely. One of the reasons the Kansas side wants to start all over from scratch.
