  1. AAA as well....so I guess that leave mostly Mariners fans there, or Tacoma? The Everett Aqua Sox used to be popular. I remember there was a team in Bend, maybe it was Short Season?
  2. But Eloy's lifetime averages as a DH are significantly the lowest compared to both corner outfield spots.
  3. Are you related to Jay Cuda? He's going to be very busy these next 2-3 years.
  4. Salt Lake had a long AAA tradition...then changed to A ball.
  5. Nobody has confirmed that Nick Hostetler is still with the organization or not...? https://www.linkedin.com/in/nick-hostetler-059175133 Still says Special Assistant to the General Manager....interestingly, Haber is listed BENEATH Josh Barfield, so I suppose some would see that as a form of demotion. Special Assistants to the Senior VP/GM Nick Hostetler, Marco Paddy, Bill Scherrer, Jim Thome Special Assistant to the Executive Vice President Todd Steverson
  6. It might not affect the fans directly like it would advertisers and sponsors...but it certainly spills over to the broadcasting side like we're seeing with all the fallout over Benetti. I can see that Monaco must be getting cold feet because of the team being so terrible AND they must be making low-ball offers. Have known many broadcasters like my former college dorm-mate who lost his job with the Astros (Brett Dolan) because the teams were so bad it eventually led to wholesale changes in the organization...and the broadcasters associated with that poor product on the field are often the first to go. Bob Grim seemingly has/had a much better reputation than either Brooks or Gallas, fwiw...being in that kind of "in between" liaison role that needs to be a bit more independent.
  7. 1962 Mets I think (40-120-1)....or one of those Orioles/Tigers teams 5. Baltimore Orioles (2021) 52-110 2. Baltimore Orioles (2018) 47-115 3. Houston Astros (2013) 51-111 1. Detroit Tigers (2003) 43-119 9. Houston Astros (2012) 55-107 4. Arizona Diamondbacks (2004) 51-111 10. Houston Astros (2011) 56-106 6. Arizona Diamondbacks (2021) 52-110 7. Baltimore Orioles (2019) 54-108 8. Washington Nationals (2022) 55-107
  8. Between the Orioles/Nationals to the north and then the huge swath of Braves' Nation in the Southeast...it just seems impossible that they would go with Nashville AND Charlotte unless they were losing one of the Florida teams.
  9. PATHETIC...I guess if you offer to work for free or even pay them, like an internship, you've gotta shot at this gig.
  10. The Cardinals were the other team that really fit perfectly with that Dodgers/Cardinals 50's and 60's style script jerseys across the front... Changing the hat logo and color scheme was one of the few things the Sox actually did better than almost anyone in the sport.
  11. Except not as a pure DH...unfortunately.
  12. Has told many he doesn't want to be in Ohtani's shadow...Yankees remain likeliest choice.
  13. The 2024 season was already ceded months ago...
  14. Watching the Royals and Tigers bury the Sox in spending (along with taking Benetti away) is pretty disheartening. Then KC at least is (eventually) getting a new stadium, when their previous one is still better than the existing Sox facility despite the appreciable age difference. Once upon a time, with guys like Tanaka and even Wheeler, they'd at least go through the motions of being attached to nearly every big name out there, just like the SF Giants. Now, there's not even any pretenses about being competitive in such a terrible/abysmal division.
  15. His son was working for the Hickory Crawdads back in the mid 90's in media relations. Nice guy.
  16. The previous season....Hermanson and Jenks in 2005.
  17. https://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2023/11/9/23954086/twins-rsn-money-bally-sports-payroll-cut The article goes on to say that the Twins got $54.8 million from Bally Sports North (part of the Diamond Sports Group) in 2023, and as that deal has expired, the Twins will have to look elsewhere for money to replace that. This is where the Twins payroll could be in 2024: #MNTwins to trim payroll in 2024. Nothing official, but it’s expected to sit between $125m and $140m. Last year, Twins payroll was a record $154m. https://t.co/HDs553IUnI — DanHayesMLB (@DanHayesMLB) November 8, 2023 "The Twins won’t be alone here. The Diamond Sports Group bankruptcy means that it’s possible the 12 teams that still have a deal with Bally Sports could wind up with a lot less revenue in 2024. In addition to the Twins, the other 11 MLB teams that still have deals with Bally are the Braves, Marlins, Tigers, Reds, Cardinals, Brewers, Royals, Angels, Guardians, Rangers and Rays."
  18. https://www.cleveland.com/guardians/2023/12/framework-in-place-for-deal-between-mlb-guardians-and-diamond-sports-over-tv-rights.html Big repercussions for the AL Central "MLB, the Guardians, Atlanta, Detroit, Texas and Milwaukee filed a motion Wednesday saying that Diamond had to “assume or reject” their RSN contracts for the 2024 season by Dec. 31. Diamond holds contracts with 11 MLB teams, but only those five were able to ask for a “assume or reject” ruling because the other teams are part owners in their RSNs. In light of this possible deal, which was negotiated Thursday before Friday’s hearing, that deadline has been set aside."
  19. Poles...if he still has the job...has to go with his own QB. And you need the payroll flexibility of a rookie QB deal to fill out the roster before it catches up with you (see Chiefs with all their WR and running game issues.) And you better have a quality back up QB as well. See Mullens vs. Browning.
  20. Pods/Iguchi first half...Konerko Crede Dye Everett AJ Uribe just enough pop.
