But isn't the EPL basically at its peak right now, despite the traditional powerhouse MAN U being in a state of relative disaster? Obviously the professional football world is doing something right over the last decade. It's the most profitable, most viewed/watched/attended sport in the world right now. https://www.quora.com/Why-is-there-so-little-parity-in-the-Premier-League

Tony La Russa Adamant He Is Not The Decision Maker
caulfield12 replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
“Brilliant man, brilliant mind. This guy has done things in the game people won’t ever dream of.” LOL on this Grifol quote La Russa also wants it known he had nothing to do with vice president Ken Williams and general manager Rick Hahn getting fired by Reinsdorf in August and had no input with Getz and Grifol putting their staffs together. -

Obviously it HASN'T happened YET...but NOBODY in baseball would be surprised one bit. Maybe Yamamoto not going to the Yankees OR Mets, but can the Yankees really afford Yamamoto, Soto, Stanton, Cole and Judge on one roster? Obviously they were the ones who started the whole Japanese starting pitching trend in the AL....with Masahiro Tanaka, along with the Mariners. Dodgers get credit for controlling Korean/Japanese market right now on the NL side. Or you can simply substitute Imanata at $75-100 million for Yamamoto in Los Angeles...

Except it will be Gordon Beckham instead, lol...

Other than a salary floor...there's absolutely no way to force those bottom 10-15 teams to compete at this point. And running "ghost" teams that will never even consider $100+ million deals isn't exactly good for the product on the field. So make those teams at least compete with the Top and Middle of the majors as well as the best of the AA/AAA franchises.

Shuster isn't much to write home about either.

So was Jenks, the entire offense second half and CF defense with Mackowiak.
-
Not even sure how they will get sponsors to associate themselves with the product at this point...giveaway days and fireworks were always at least reliable. Now it's more and more based on the given opponents. The Village of Bedford Park and labor unions don't have unlimited marketing budgets. Alex and Ursula Snelius Lottery Money without Farmer? Pete Vukovich? Nationwide is gone without Benetti...

Everyone is complaining about the Braves' return...which is largely starting pitching driven, along with a utility player in Grissom. For those who watched the 1999-2001 and 2017-19 waves of pitching disappear...the White Sox are nowhere close to having enough pitching to compete in the future. NOT EVEN CLOSE
-
YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MUCH PITCHING. EXCEPT THE 2006 WHITE SOX...well, minus the bullpen.
-
Those who predicted around $110-120 million before we entered the post-season were pretty much right on the money. Moncada, Eloy, Benintendi, Cease are the only places realistically left to cut.

One C from your last name...

The actual former player or a parody/fake name account?

Beggars Pizza vs. Little Caesar's/Domino's...can't even win the great pizza wars with DET, let alone broadcasting ones. Not too long ago Mario Impemba and Rod Allen were trying to kill each other in the Tigers' booth.

If there's not going to be a salary floor/ceiling (especially the FLOOR part)...what's the point for the majority of the bottom half of the major leagues? Citing the Orioles, DBacks, Rays, Guardians, Twins, Brewers as reason for SOME tepid optimism? With MLB considering expansion....why not have those Bottom 5-7 teams in baseball be in danger of relegation like in English soccer/football? Play-in/play-out tournaments for survival? All of the AAA/AA markets fighting for an opportunity to get that shot at a major league shot based on running their franchises exceptionally well and having at least 25-30,000 seat stadiums. White Sox, Royals, Rockies, A's, Marlins, Pirates, Nationals, Brewers (if they do a total rebuild and don't get the $300 million from WI, for now they get the benefit of the doubt) and Angels would be in this bottom 9 as of right now. Then you can argue about the middle-tier grouping of the Tigers, Reds, Twins, Cubs, Guardians, Red Sox, DBacks, Mets, Padres, Cardinals, Mariners...could easily move down the Guardians for 10/10/10=30 balance TRUE TITLE and/or FINANCIAL COMPETITORS: TOR NYY Baltimore (for now), TB Rays, Houston Astros (for now), Texas Rangers, Dodgers, SF Giants, Phillies, Atlanta Braves (just 10 teams) Since they're unlike to push it all the way down to just 20 teams like the EPL (numerous reasons for this), they should do something to pressure the Bottom 10 teams in baseball to either spend or emulate the Rays/Orioles and innovate their way into the Top 10 at least.

Sox Sign Erick Fedde - 2 years, $15 million
caulfield12 replied to Heads22's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Unless your defense is to the level of Maldonado about 4-5 years ago...and you need to pair that guy up with certain pitchers in your playoff rotation (like when the Dodgers dumped Grandal due to defensive concerns). With pitch framing disappearing and robot/AI umps closer and closer, you're looking for veteran game managers and throwers with quick releases who can instill additional confidence in any pitching staff, veteran or Years 1-3/4 in terms of experience. -
He probably won't be able to pitch again until June/July, but it doesn't really matter to their fans or front office because of his legendary status with the team. Comebacks from those type of injuries in your mid 30's are pretty dicey, though.

Clayton Kershaw is basically stacked up somewhere between #9-11 in the Dodgers' current depth chart...assuming he signs at some point this year. He would be #1 on the White Sox, assuming the Cease trade comes to fruition.
-
Ohtani Gonsolin May Kershaw all added for 2025. Plus the survivors of the pitching tryouts between AA and AAA staffs. Gives TBR a chance. They were never in a million years going to deal Arozarena with the Franco uncertainty. Rays with $35 to spend not to mention MLB decision on Franco contract pending investigation results. LAD have to go through same with Urias.

Mize Manning Skubal Olson Maeda Flaherty best rotation in the division as of right now.

Not with billions to throw at the problem...as well as a deep farm. They certainly need TOR with all the uncertainty surrounding Buehler's comeback in his most challenging year.
