  1. Sounds like a reverse of Rodon situation...where we get another peak from him at the end of his Sox career. Yet he moves on to another organization before turning 30.
  2. https://www.nbcsportsboston.com/mlb/boston-red-sox/five-potential-replacements-chaim-bloom-red-sox-general-manager/552909/ Reading this list of FIVE guys already starts to make one's blood boil. The Sox are poised to waste yet another five years before something dramatic is bound to transpire with Reinsdorf's health and the upcoming GRF stadium lease issues. How could they line Chris Getz up with those names and reach the conclusion he would be a full one year ahead of any of those dudes? And that's not even counting Theo Epstein and now Bloom. Or Jeffrey Luhnow. BTW Red Sox ownership already ruling out an Epstein to the rescue scenario. Seems he's only looking at ownership situations but much long-term than what the Marlins went through with the relatively brief Derek Jeter experiment/experience.

  4. Twins added Jorge Lopez in 2022 and he was a complete dud after All Star level in 2022. Duran and Clase (CLE) both have great stuff but not nearly as dominant as they both were in 2022. Even with 100+ there are so many guys throwing nearly that hard like a Santos on the Sox it's easier to time than years past.
  5. If the goal is 90+ losses again...they will stick with their current bullpen churning the deck from the waiver wire philosophy. The Royals worked because you had three near quasi elite relievers simultaneously (and relatively cost controlled) in Holland Davis Escobar near their primes simultaneously.
  6. What the heck happened with DJ Moore? He was hyped up the entire off season on sports radio as a near superstar level of talent. Feels more like overhyped Sox FA moves in years past....Steve Sax or Cory Snyder.
  7. Not only that...but they have Hader, who has been excellent for most of the year. The one run record is mostly due to the remainder of that pen...and a complete lack of clutch hitting.
  8. International scout Marco Paddy has been selected as one of this year’s award recipients for the “2022 Scouts of the Year” honors. Other scouts being highlighted at Wednesday night’s reception include Jack Bowen, Pirates (East), Steve Williams, Pirates (Midwest), and Eric Kubota, A’s (West). www.soxon35th.com Also won SABR's Roland Hemond Award. Award Winners 2023: Marco Paddy 2017: Jax Robertson 2016: Michael Hill 2015: Bill Bryk 2014: Tal Smith 2013: Terry Ryan 2012: Bob Gebhard 2011: Dennis Gilbert 2010: John Schuerholz 2009: Dallas Green 2008: Mike Veeck and Tyler Tumminia 2007: Bill Clark 2006: Bob Fontaine Jr. 2005: Paul Beeston 2004: Paul Snyder 2003: Pat Gillick 2002: Bob Howsam 2001: Roland Hemond
  9. Chase Claypool individually taking a lot of heat for lack of effort and effectiveness blocking downfield. Looks like St. Brown might already be taking his place on active list as early as this weekend.
  10. Then 1/3rd of America qualifies, lol. In all seriousness, did we honestly expect Dave Wilder was going to respond to questions related to JR/KW/Hahn by first apologizing to White Sox fans for destroying our Dominican operations going on almost 20 years later?
  11. Once upon a time, you would NEVER keep a reliever with an ERA over 5 or 5.5 on a major league roster for an entire season. Bummer's not even close to that level, and hasn't been for the majority of the season.
  12. LOL. Just realized that the A's were 46-100 and the Royals 46-101...sheesh. Ridiculous. When the A's were actively trying to be bad and sabotage their relationship with local fans in many ways. And our so-called leadership was "forged" in the fires of KC, haha.
  13. The one thing here is the injuries that are almost unavoidable (regardless of the equipment) with the whole increasing speed/force/violent collisions resulting in concussions issue...or the fact that running backs have 3-4 year shelf lives now. Parents are going to be increasingly wary in terms of opportunity cost associated with a football career vis a vis other sports.
  14. If everyone who got greedy because they believed they were underpaid (or simply thought they could get away with skimming) was defined as a "sociopath," the list would be exponentially expanded.
  15. White Sox: Colson Montgomery, SS (No. 1/MLB No. 17) After oblique and back injuries couched Montgomery for most of the first three months of the season, he has slashed .262/.448/.451 with six homers in 48 games between High-A and Double-A. An Indiana prep product who went in first round of the 2021 Draft, he earns repeated Corey Seager comparisons as a 6-foot-4 lefty-hitting shortstop with huge offensive upside. White Sox prospect that MLB.com writers want to see in the AFL...
  16. Well, those numbers make a lot of sense if you consider that hockey and basketball teams have half as many games. Poor marketing (of stars), young people choosing other sports or gaming/e-sports...it has lost the national appeal and become increasingly regional in nature. And the past 10-15 years of getting that huge bump in revenue from the RSNs is going to get squeezed dramatically with so many households going away from cable and satellite TV.
  17. You can forget replacing Moncada unless it's Montgomery at the end of the season...
  18. It's the fact that the KC model isn't as well suited for GRF and we don't have the players except for Robert and Anderson before 2023 to execute it in the first place. That KC bullpen was pretty much a historical anomaly as well. Then you need a stretch of hitting on all your draft picks and lucking into Sal Perez and gave Rusty Kuntz around to transform Alex Gordon from an average 3B to GG in LF.
  19. https://sports.yahoo.com/ranking-top-10-starting-pitchers-184729039.html Giolito the 7th ranked FA starting pitcher at the moment Bleak for the Sox. You know Kershaw and Ohtani are out of the question, as well as the Japanese pitcher…
  20. None of those outfielders panned out. Basabe Steele Walker Adolfo Lu Gone Rutherford
  21. The breakout surprise “star” of the first two months of 2022 for SF, lol…
  22. Feel like it's kind of similar to the situation the Angels are going to be in....second team in the market, likely losing Ohtani and Trout (either a trade or albatross contract if he can't stay healthy), was considering selling the team a year ago and then reversed his decision (Moreno).
  23. Carter Hawkins works for the Cubs...basically the GM. The most WASP-y background you can imagine for MLB front office executives.
