Hedges is out hitting his recent career numbers by a mile. It's like expecting Conforto to keep up a 1.197 ops.

Getz speaks...
“That’s how we are going to separate ourselves. We are going to continue to add talent and find ways to get these guys better,” Getz said. “We’ve been very intentional on who we are bringing into this clubhouse. “We are looking for winning-type players that are focused on what I have to do to help this team win. That’s starting to really seep into this organization as a whole and help clarify who we are targeting at any level of acquisition.” No evidence at all of that with the recent string of bullpen moves. Feels like just throwing darts at the wall. Pitching can't possibly be better now without Crochet, Houser, Perez, Civale, etc. Davis Martin has really been great so far, but the back end is a total mess and Shane Smith has just disappeared. If Getz means guys like Romo Peters Hill and Kelenic (and not Braden)...well more power to him I guess. Or it's Jacob Gonzalez next because he played on such a dominant CWS team?

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/48712239/mlb-2026-american-league-al-standings-history-weird-yankees-rays A tongue-in-cheek projection sent to me by a colleague a couple of days ago gets to the heart of how the American League standings look so far: Yankees: 94-68 Rest of AL: 81-81 Angels: 68-94 No, the final standings won't look like that, and the joke is probably unfair to the Tampa Bay Rays, though their plus-17 run differential portends a finish closer to the AL's rabble than to the New York Yankees (at plus-75) -- but it's hard to look at the AL records from top to bottom and not wonder what the heck is going on. Nearing the quarter mark of the season, two of the AL's three division leaders are just two games over .500 (the 20-18 Athletics and 21-19 Cleveland Guardians) while the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners are tied for the final wild-card berth at 18-21. In fact, the AL-worst Los Angeles Angels are only three games out of a playoff spot, too.

Alek Thomas
"He’s been here for a long time,” general manager Mike Hazen said on Friday. “He has no prior outright. So if we end up outrighting him, if we don’t trade or clear his waivers, then I feel like we’ll get a better version of him when he is down there. I feel like if we just optioned him, feeling like he’s buried sitting down there biding his time until he gets another opportunity, I wasn’t sure that we were going to get the best version. “This is the opportunity we’ll have to get the best version of him if he’s still here. Obviously, we will see what kind of trade activity exists out there for him.” AZ snake pit yes I realize story above could have same quotes but Twitter is evil as well as blocked in China lol

Garbage in, garbage out. Still not difficult at all to imagine Thomas outperforming both Peters and Acuna for the remainder of the season. (But then you also have to fit in Pereira/Hays/Kelenic somewhere as well.) https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/arizona-diamondbacks/news/why-diamondbacks-dfad-alek-thomas-surprising-roster-move/6ad858858bd2c30df7e41ba5

"With continued performance, Montgomery could be up in Chicago within a few weeks hitting bombs alongside Munetaka Murakami and Colson Montgomery." That was what I was responding to...not the exit velocity stuff. Just thought it was a completely ridiculous timeline. Then it was still a headline article today when I was looking up Trade Central for the Patrick Bailey/Guardians' move so just assumed it was new information without even clicking on it...since I don't have a subscription...never mind.

Munemania: He has power
Is being connected to Thomas right now actually a good thing in the eyes of the front office? Does Mune know anything about the history? Surely he was just following photographer's pose suggestion...thought it was flattering to be in same conversation undoubtedly. Why does Mune recent shot look so faded/washed out in comparison?

2026 AL Central Watch
The Guardians demoted catcher Bo Naylor to make room for SFG's Patrick Bailey. The underachieving San Francisco Giants decided to shake up things early, trading Gold Glove catcher Patrick Bailey to the Cleveland Guardians for left-handed pitching prospect Matt Wilkinson and their first-round pick, No. 29, in this year's draft... Hedges remains the primary backup. 29th Pick, 2026 MLB DraftBecause it is a competitive balance pick, the Guardians are allowed to trade this pick. It is the first of the competitive balance picks, and comes with a $3.27 million bonus allotment. The Giants already had the fourth overall pick. Adding this to their draft pool means they now have a $17.35 million total bonus pool that ranks fourth most, not far behind the White Sox, who pick first overall.... https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/giants-acquire-matt-tugboat-wilkinson-no-29-pick-for-patrick-bailey/

Whereas the Holiday brothers as well as Druw Jones seemingly got the benefit of the doubt because of their fathers' respective careers. George Sr was simply a fantastic athlete, the KW special multi sport star.

White Sox win draft lottery, will pick #1 in 2026
Girlfriends families scouts … groupies I guess aren’t described with that word in 2026, what’s the politically correct term besides fans/followers?

PCA is a big fat crybaby with a contract extension
Bregman the common denominator across Houston Boston and now the Cubs…hard to dismiss his playoff record/winning records out of hand as a fluke or coincidence.
