Updated MLB Farm System Rankings After 2023 MLB Draft
Any time a prospect has an issue related to his back, it's hard to know how things will end up. The next Corey Seager, the next Crede...or Yoan Moncada.

7/18- White Sox at Mets, 6:10
And at least two of those teams lost...make it three.

7/18- White Sox at Mets, 6:10
200+ pitches by Sox staff

Another reminder of failure. The Derek Jeter of the White Sox lol.

7/18- White Sox at Mets, 6:10
Lopez with a sub 2 ERA his last 20+ outings...

Send Banks back down to add innings as a starter in preparation for next year's debacle of a season...

Kimbrel about to be 16/16 in save conversions unless the jinx is in lol. 17/17 counting ASG.

7/18- White Sox at Mets, 6:10
Anderson passing Colas and Zavala in OPS. The fact that Seby remains one of the top fWAR players on the team is astounding...even with the catching adjustment.

Updated MLB Farm System Rankings After 2023 MLB Draft
Part of the disappointment related to the fact fans couldn't even enjoy the 2020 playoff fade in person. That and the fact that they had such a unique opportunity to make it by primarily beating up on their own division.

Alvarez has (quietly) been one of the best rookies in baseball the last six weeks or so.. .
-
7/18- White Sox at Mets, 6:10
26th/29th ranked farm system...especially AA/AAA. Not sure it would matter if they only drafted pitchers every year.

7/18- White Sox at Mets, 6:10
Shortest outing of season for Lucas. Well rested for next start with another team at least.
-
7/18- White Sox at Mets, 6:10
They need to keep Giolito's ERA under 4 at least....

7/18- White Sox at Mets, 6:10
If you look at the two biggest Central acquisitions, both Baez and Correa have been awful. But we're well behind the division in farm system rankings, too. It would be beyond ridiculous if the Guardians won again with McKenzie and now Bieber out with injuries.

Yeah, at least if you cancel out the disappointing 1B, the Tigers at least have Mize and Greene over Nick Madrigal/Crochet/Burger.

Gavin Sheets has the most runners advancing on him
Javy Baez basically benches self despite being better than Anderson on offense and clearly defense.... "The 30-year-old, whose defense at shortstop ranks in the 99th percentile for outs above average this season, is hitting .220 with six home runs, 13 walks and 84 strikeouts in 88 games, posting a career-worst .321 slugging percentage. His 57 wRC+ ranks second-to-last — ahead of only Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson — among 150 qualified position players." "Two years ago, Báez launched 31 home runs with an .494 slugging percentage in 502 at-bats for the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets. Since joining the Tigers, Báez has 23 home runs with a .365 slugging percentage in 901 at-bats." https://www.yahoo.com/sports/first-time-detroit-tigers-javier-101609926.html

How to be a Great Baseball Analyst
65-70% on the other side of the ledger seems about right.

White Sox still one of just seven teams to see attendance falls
Or some other turn of phrase like essentially or basically or roughly if you want to be a bit more generous.

White Sox still one of just seven teams to see attendance falls
Column: Wrigley Field’s drawing power means the Chicago Cubs need only the illusion of contending https://www.yahoo.com/sports/column-wrigley-field-drawing-power-183000430.html "Marcus Stroman, who is set to earn a nine-figure deal when he opts out of his contract, doesn’t seem to understand why the Cubs might trade him or Cody Bellinger by Aug. 1 if they’re seemingly out of contention. “Everyone is always putting this emphasis on ‘Oh, we need to play good in seven days, 10 days, and then we can be buyers,’” he said Saturday. “But I actually don’t believe in that. This division is wide open, and then if you even look deeper than that, as an organization why would you not want to be competitive for multiple years — year after year after year? “Belli is a guy who changed our lineup. Why would you want him to get away? Why would you want a guy like myself (to get away) who goes out there and gives you quality starts in a league that’s incredibly hard to do?” The answer is simple. The Cubs can replace Stroman and Bellinger with less expensive players, still play at a sub-.500 pace in a bad division and continue to draw just under 34,000 fans. Meanwhile, the hotel the Cubs owners built still can charge more than $2,000 a night for a series against an old rival (Cardinals)."

2023 AL Central Division Thread
They desperately need the energy of O'Neil Cruz injected...but at least another month likely before he returns from the broken ankle.

2024 Starting Rotation Discussion
Why not? Of course Lopez succeeding (finally) as a starter would just be around for the course. They should have started stretching him out weeks ago...though...when it became obvious it wasn't in the cards for him to close games out.

Gavin Sheets has the most runners advancing on him
compared to any MLB "outfielder" "Based on the opportunities Acuña has seen -- here we're talking his position in the grass, the runner's speed and position, etc. -- an average outfielder would have expected runners to advance 38% of the time. Against Acuña, they only do it 32% of the time. (The other end of that: Chicago’s Gavin Sheets, who has seen similar opportunities, in that the expectation is a 36% advance rate, but has actually seen runners go 43% of the time on him.)" https://www.mlb.com/news/most-valuable-outfielder-throwing-arms-of-2023

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/nightengales-notebook-end-road-clayton-104003063.html Reading about Craig Counsell...just goes to how far away from a great manager that Grifol is.
