  1. Guess who's leading the Sox pitching staff with most Ks so far?
  2. Looking through the MiLB rosters, I started to wonder what the guys do during April-June who are set to be on the Great Falls roster? Do the White Sox have any specific programs these guys are supposed to keep up with? Or are they basically free to do what they want and and choose their own baseball prep before the short season begins?
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 05:57 PM) Exactly. I wonder how many of these cry babies could have lasted in the era of the likes of Drysdale or Early Wynn or other pitchers of yester year? To me, beaning a guy because you just gave up a homer makes Samarjijikukaracha seem a lot more like a cry baby then the Royals.
  4. The magic will leave Tyler Flowers' glasses.
  5. If the dodgers only had the 5 highest paid guys on the team, they'd still be the 13th highest paid team in baseball.
  6. I guess this means Noesi is the opening day starter. Well deserved!
  7. QUOTE (SnB @ Feb 3, 2015 -> 08:05 AM) Did anyone else play something like this? I vaguely remember playing it as a kid, though I think I was too young to fully comprehend it. http://www.amazon.com/Card-Baseball-Exciti.../dp/B0052EROZ8# I remember this! Classic!
  8. Yeah.... I think disappointed is not the right way of describing your feeling. You just feel nervous that if we're going this far in, it might be in vain because we need one more guy to put ourselves in a position that we are appear to be definitively the best looking team. We aren't that sure how much more we can stretch payroll at this point, so its a little hard to really give an opinion, but think about if an opposite offseason happened. We keep the salary low, trade a few high money guys, hope for prospects in return. Will we really ever have the money to go all in as far as you would like? If so, how long would that take? 4 years? If we have stretched as far as we can go, I'd rather try this for a year, then if it completely fails, sell the farm and wait those 4 years. Scherzer is definitely not the right choice if we were gonna add another high caliber player unless he all of a sudden decides he doesn't want to sign any contract more than 3-4 years....which aint happening. What was the last super contract that you remember seeming worth it once it actually occurred?
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 09:54 AM) Rodon's ceiling for 2015 is more along the lines of 160 innings of being on the level of a typical #2-3 starter. That's a pretty lofty hope. If he can give us anything helpful at the MLB level in '15, great. But I'm not crossing my fingers. The guy has a really high ceiling and high floor, but putting out #2-3 MLB starter production in his first full professional year isn't super likely.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 07:30 PM) Rays might be bitter about Maddon? I know it won't happen, but god I wish the Sox could offer up Gillaspie, Anderson, Danish, Montas and Hawkins and see if the Rays bite. Then at the same time I wonder if that'd be an overpay after the insane buyers market that has been going on lately, including with Price. As a Sox fan, I'd do that without thinking twice if we had the payroll for it. Not so sure the Rays would though.
  11. QUOTE (Rooftop Shots @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 10:27 PM) Well one thing for sure. The way that Hahn talked about JR stretching th payroll for Melky, I think we can finally put all the Scherzer discussions to rest. Just hope like heck that SOMEONE in the national league picks him up, and NOT resign with Detroit. What I cant figure out is, if payroll was already being stretched, then why was there a report of us talking with Scherzer, if there is no point or reality in signing him? To potentially make demand seem greater and make him more expensive for whoever gives him that massive contract?
  12. The more I see Rick Hahn talk, the more I think he'd make a great airline pilot. He's got the right vocal tone, pauses, and "uh" to not only tell us about our recent acquisitions, but also let us know that we've been cleared for takeoff should be up in the air in in 5 minutes.
  13. Payroll is getting pretty darn big now (this was written before Melky signing), even if they came up with a deal for Longo for prospects (which is highly doubtful), we'd be increasing payroll even more and need to shed some. No way Rays have an interest in Danks.
  14. QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 14, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) I must have missed it, who from that team got caught for PEDs? I know the ruors and friends of mine you see things but I don't know who got caught. Pablo Ozuna. But probably at least half that team used something at some point in their career that wasn't legal.
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 11:42 PM) Rick Hahn just pulled his dick out and put it on the table at the Winter Meetings, and it's just Day 1. Hahahaha.
  16. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 11:09 PM) You all know I love Semien, so I'm frustrated. Shark is a fine pitcher, but I'm frustrated that we gave up the one guy in our system with superlative pitch recognition skills. I understand why we did it, but consider this: We now have holes at: -2B (I don't believe in Sanchez...sorry) -3B -LF -Bullpen That's a lot of holes to fill for a team that is going all in. It doesn't seem like we're good enough to be trading a potentially good starting 2B for a one year rental. At least I'll get to see Beane use Semien at SS everyday like I was advocating we do... Don't forget about Micah at 2nd.
  17. Was the Thome shot at 1:18 the one when Hawk got so excited that he declared it to be a 600 foot homer? I remember laughing at that comment.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 18, 2014 -> 07:53 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 5m5 minutes ago K. Williams: "The only message we want to send at the end of the day is when our roster is complete, that (fans) can dream again." #WhiteSox What does that mean.....?
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Sep 27, 2014 -> 09:05 PM) Do they have video of the full ceremony? It's on Sox website. Right here.
  20. Definitely still would. I don't have cable, but do have MLB.tv package. If they moved, I could actually watch Sox games on TV...
  21. His fast pace has to help too. Anybody know if his teammates have better fielding metrics when he's pitching vs. ave pitcher? Or if he gets more run support than other pitchers because his teammates are more in-tune to the game?
  22. Did Hawk say that this is Konerko's last game as a player in uniform?
