  1. Cease?!? German is less than a year older than Cease and is better at literally every aspect of pitching aside from throwing the ball fast and even in that he's not far behind Cease. Cease averaged 97.5 mph on his fastball and Marquez averaged 95.7 mph.
  2. He's a really solid number 2 or 3 starter. His contract and career line up very closely to Quintana in 2016 so that should be about the level of return the Rockies would be looking to get if they dealt him. According to Fangraphs Quintana was the #25 most valuable trade piece in 2016 and Marquez was #22 this year. His career ERA on the road is 3.51 in 341.1 IP and his FIP and xFIP are both 3.82 so that isn't flukey. His numbers at home are much less impressive since he pitches at Coors, but his 5.10 ERA does not at all line up with the 3.89 FIP and 3.38 xFIP. His career BB/9 is only 2.24 so he doesn't hand out many free passes and he's at 9.08 K/9 which is solid, but he's not exactly a strikeout pitcher. His career GB% is 47.9% so he's not in the Kuechel range of inducing ground balls, but he probably should be considered a "ground ball pitcher." He would come in and right away be the #2 starter on the White Sox, possibly #1.
  3. I love this idea, but I don't see how it gets done without trading Vaughn. Unless the Rockies want to toss in Charlie Blackmon and his terrible contract, then maybe it could work without Vaughn.
  4. I really didn't want to see Fetter leave Michigan, but for him to leave for a team that isn't the White Sox is much worse
  5. I hate this move so much. I couldn't be more disappointed in this organization.
  6. Tip of the cap to Heyman for this one https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/1315673856095420417?s=20
  7. Not that Jim Callis is an international player guru either, but AAAA DH only players as Colas is described by Fangraphs are not ranked in the 30-60 range in top 100 prospect lists.
  8. Right now both are clearly in the rotation. How are we supposed to answer this question before the off-season even starts? Who is pushing them out of the rotation right now Lopez, Rodon, and Kopech?
  9. I agree, after reading this list of names it's clear they need more than one starter.
  10. Well if he's cheaper then that's obviously even better. I'm just saying the pen was pretty good this year when everyone was healthy and started to struggle as guys had to move up a role. Being able to keep everyone in the same spot and hopefully getting better starting pitching should yield even better results than this year. I think you could find a closer out of Bummer or Heuer, but then you have to find a 7th or 8th inning guy and I don't have faith in the Sox ability to pick the right one in order to save 3 or 4 million dollars.
  11. I would definitely bring back Colome for something in the 2-3 year range for $12-14 million per. The recent history of trying to plug in guys for $7-9 million is abysmal.
  12. I still think Lance Lynn makes sense if he can be gotten at a reasonable price. Him and Stroman would be my ideal combo.
  13. Honestly, I'd rather be knocked out by the A's than the Astros. This team definitely faltered down the stretch, but they don't have anything to be ashamed of with their performance in this series.
  14. You have to think both teams are going to be following a pretty similar strategy of a starter on a really short leash and then a bullpen game from there. Hendricks is "available" but probably just as a last resort after throwing so many pitches yesterday and Diekman has worked in both games so far, but he's probably still actually available. Honestly this game is probably just going to come down to whoever has someone come out of the bullpen and not have it and give up a run or two.
  15. Oh, this is about ESPN signing him to an extension. Well, I'm a lot less pumped about that, but good for him. I like him as both a college basketball and college football announcer. He's just a pro as a play-by-play guy.
  16. I'd let Keuchel go 6 and have Cordero throw the 7th and the 8th so you can just bullpen game it tomorrow. Guess Cease could just finish this game now. I don't want to see Marshall, Bummer, Heuer, Colome, or Crochet in this game.
  17. I'm agnostic on the Leury vs. Mazara debate, but I will say defense in the outfield should matter a little bit less than it did in game one with Keuchel on the mound. Engel absolutely deserves to start again and I hope Eloy is ready to DH tomorrow.
  18. Luzardo has a way higher whiff rate than Manaea so they're probably just playing the higher upside card they've got. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they have Luzardo go 3 or 4 innings and then have Fiers come in for a couple innings to get them into the back end of their bullpen. Though I think that strategy doesn't work quite as well against the White Sox as some others because the lineup is pretty static regardless of pitcher handedness aside from Mazara/Engel.
  19. As a Michigan fan cheering for a team all season long that is really entertaining and good only to go into the state of Ohio to have your soul ripped out at the end of the season seems exactly like football to me.
  20. They broke me last night. Tonight all I could do was laugh.
  21. Reynaldo Lopez has been a solid 5th starter after coming back from Schaumburg.
  22. Maybe tomorrow Ricky will manage with an intent to win the game instead of just getting it over with.
