Official 2011-2012 NCAA Football Thread

I've guessed that Texas winds up independent to be honest. They can certainly pull it off. I wonder how the BCS restructures itself with one less conference. -
The Voyagers are the only team playing tonight and tomorrow. Their regular season runs through Thursday so I'll just put their end games here. Lost 8-2 tonight Nothing to speak of really. They're now 1/2 game up with 2 to go.

We'll need a new manager before Flowers plays even once a week as long as AJ is here.

How does the SEC manage 13 teams and why? -
So the last 2 games have largely been unwatchable from the US. Just awful stuff outside of maybe 25 minutes against Costa Rica. Brutal.

QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 10:11 PM) Besides the 172 K's, I'd say Trayce Thompson had a successful season. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=572204 Next year at Winston-Salem, I hope to see the average up and the K's down significantly. Kanny has a biggish park as well, which kinda shows in his splits. A bit better on the road. I'm scared to guess what kind of power numbers he'll put up in Winston-Salem's park. As Hawk would say, "Mercy!"

Good for him! He had fantastic numbers and really deserves this. Hopefully he can become a No. 4/5 type in the Majors. The Sox certainly need the SP depth.

I'm not really a believer in Kevin Wilson, but that's me. It was a good hire on paper, but that doesn't mean he will succeed at IU. -

QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 10:29 PM) And Georgia shouldnt have been too. I guess they get the benefit of being from the SEC. This is a Georgia team that finished 6-7 last year, couldnt score a TD against a C-USA team in the Liberty Bowl, have no running backs and lost their best offensive player. But lets rank them! About 10 teams are ranked in the preseason that don't finish there every year. Few people know enough about all the teams to know who will be better so they default to the known entity like Georgia. I think my Missouri Tigers got that treatment this year. They'll probably finish 7-5, but they're ranked none the less. -
Charlotte doubleheader: lost 5-3 Won yesterday's completion 3-2 Barons won 5-0 Leesman 7 IP, 0 R, 10 K, 1 BB, 5 H Dash lost 7-2 Wilkins 2 doubles and 2 walks Dash 1 game out of division lead with 2 to play. Kannapolis doubleheader: lost game 1 3-1 Won game 2 6-1 Half game out with 2 to play, though they're 1.5 up for a playoff spot. Voyagers won 6-2 In first by 2 games with 5 to play

So apparently TCU has a paper mache defense. -
Knights suspended after an inning and a half. Barons lost 3-2 Santiago Dash doubleheader: Won game 1 8-6 Game 2 Kanny PPD Billings @ Voyagers

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 03:21 PM) Reed was the one there was a question about being brought up, but his record would seem to support the move Yeah I'm really looking forward to watching him pitch.
-
Oh damn I was just thinking I could use a new background. Awesome! Love the theme too. I think this is your best year of these Knight.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 03:49 PM) I would only do it if I can get fine quality paper (like the one the publisher uses) or else it would seem really cheap... Yeah that's what I was thinking. Seems like a major bother for something so small. That said, these are very cool. I'd be more inclined to use one as a desktop background.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) I think Escobar's headed to Chicago. Not in the lineup tonight and Rafael Vera was moved up to Charlotte from Kannapolis. That would give them one too many on the active roster. Cool. That gives him some time to get some coaching from Omar.
-
Like Goldstein said, always been able to bring it but never put it all together. Supposed to have a plus curve when it's on too. Needs control though his numbers have been better this year.
-
Knights won 2-0 Axelrod 7 scorless Danks 3-4, 2B Barons won 5-3 Loman HR #19 Doyle 7.2 IP, 3 R Dash PPD Kanny lost 6-2 Voyagers @ Missoula

We've been through this before. Who was the last guy to win Carolina League MVP for Winston-Salem? Leo Daigle. Remember David Cook? Generally, they're not prospects, no question. I'm still of the theory of pushing them a bit to give them another shot. What's the harm?
-
QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) how can he be 26 and have 9 pro seasons? Graduated high school at 17 (August 10 birthday makes him about as young as you can get for a year in school) and was drafted out of high school.
-
Complete ignorance here, what do you mean 'use' these as your Madden cover?
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) I don't care if Birmingham is in the playoffs or not. Chicago is more important than Birmingham. That will never happen. Most of the reasons have been mentioned, but the White Sox don't want to piss off an affiliate by taking away their hottest pitcher right before the playoffs just so he can pitch 5 innings a week.
