QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 03:50 PM) Kannapolis Intimidators ROSTER MOVE: LHP Wes Whisler promoted to AAA Charlotte Knights today. In his last 22 games with Kannapolis, Whisler posted a 1.08 ERA (3 ER/25.0 IP) and recorded three saves in a four-game span in the last week. Good luck, Wes! Ryan Buch activated for the Dash as well.

Holy crap Aguero. Heck of a Premier League debut. I'm all for competitive games, but sometimes it's fun to watch one team just slaughter another for the sweet highlights.

Flowers has impressed me these last couple games. He's still not an average defensive catcher, but he made a nice play on that foul ball earlier this inning and seems to call a decent game. Danks is working quickly and not shaking Tyler off. Throw in two good offensive games in a row and I'm starting to turn the corner on Flowers. I was really down on him with all the minor league strikeouts, but I've come to peace with the fact that he can be an acceptable backup catcher. I doubt he'll be an everyday player, but he's a Major Leaguer. I wasn't so sure earlier.

QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) I was going to tell you that atleast Missouri will be going to an easier basketball conference and could compete for conference titles. But then I remembered that you stole Haith from us... Ha I believe the phrase you were going for was 'took him off your hands for you.' He's recruiting well so far so at least he's doing what he's known for. I'm trying to stay optimistic at least until I see him coach a game. -
QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) Ok Tyler Flowers, put up or shut up for the next few days. His bat simply has to come around or he isn't a Major Leaguer. His defense is terrifying behind the plate. He put up! Way to go Tyler!

Keenyn Walker 0-5, 5 K. 21 K in his last 42 AB.

QUOTE (Bruce_Blixton @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) Trayce Thompson hit his 20th homer today for Kannapolis; I know his average is still pretty low and K rate is still high but I think if we're patient enough with him he'll develop into a pretty good ballplayer. The Winston-Salem team should be fun to follow next season, it's going to be packed with some interesting prospects. I agree on both points. Kanny has a pretty exciting lineup right now. Hopefully we can churn out a few really nice hitting prospects down the road from this group. I'm holding out hope with Thompson because he has shown significant improvement in an area of his offensive game each year as a pro. Remember, he's younger than Keenyn Walker.

Part of me wants Mizzou to jump to the SEC so I can be one of the pompous a-holes bragging about how much better my school's conference is, but for the most part I don't want to go 7-5 every year. -

From what Laumann said in the conference call a couple weeks ago he sounded pretty sure that they weren't going to sign O'Shea or Gardeck. I already put them as gone in my head. -

So the guy who had success last start by throwing tons of strikes walks the leadoff batter this time out? Ugly.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) You know, I listened in, I don't blame him much at all. He was a bit mean, but I'd call out the hosts there. Does anyone who isn't an IU fan agree with me? It goes both ways. When the actual interview took place, Wilson was a dick from the start and didn't need to be. IU football is a joke to their alums and he realizes that he needs to change that perception locally. However, you can't come away as as much of a dick as a pair of radio jockeys. The coach needs to be better instead of being rude from the start. On the flip side, the radio guys were awful after they let him go. For the actual interview, Wilson was bad. Afterwards, the radio guys were worse. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 09:00 AM) End of the day this is nothing but positive for IU though. IU fans should love that their coach doesn't take s*** from dumb radio hosts. The IU coach needs to represent himself better than that. It's not positive at all for them. Ultimately if Wilson wants to shut everyone up, he'll make the goal at IU higher than making a bowl game. It's the worst program in the Big Ten right now and little things like this don't help (or really matter) in the long run. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) Nope, it just looks like a guy who is easing back in to a starting job after being relegated to a relief spot where he only appeared twice in 3 weeks or so. I tend to agree, but Santiago came out of nowhere this year. He made one professional start before this year and wasn't a dominant reliever. You could almost as easily say his first half this year was an aberration and his more recent results are more indicative of the pitcher he is instead of saying the recent starts are the aberration.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 10:50 AM) Serafin didn't really dominate the way this guy is, though. And I think Walters has more velocity. Serafin has dropped off the screen, as you probably noticed, he seems to basically be capped at A ball. Hopefully this guy does better than that. I don't think there's too much of a difference. Serafin is a 5'10 lefty, Walters is a 6' lefty. Both came from mid-major D1 college programs. Serafin didn't put up the strikeout numbers Walters did, but he had a 20:5 K:BB ratio for Bristol and then put up 38:9 in 42.1 innings for Kannapolis as a rookie. Walters now has a 53:9 in 48 innings for Great Falls. The K rate is much better and he's a year younger than Serafin was as a rookie, but he's also doing it in rookie ball while Serafin did it in Kanny. I said Walters is probably a bit better, but I see a lot of similarities.

QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 11, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) Throwing lots of strikes and dominating in a hitters league. Good to see. He sounds like a possibly better version of Joe Serafin.

QUOTE (Nyx81 @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 05:01 PM) The first episode I thought of is when Homer eats that insanity pepper at the chili festival. Homer's quest to find his soul mate. I think it ends up being a lighthouse. "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer (The Mysterious Voyage of Homer)" Oh man, how did I forget that one? "Find your soulmate, Homer." "Where?" "This is just your memory. I can't give you any new information." One of my all-time favorite bits right there.
