Flores was much better in his start last night. He pitched 5 shutout innings allowing only 2 hits while striking out 2 and walking 4. Unfortunately he didn't get any run support and received a ND, but the Warthogs won 4-2.
-
Villacis got rocked for Charlotte. 3 IP, 7 R. 7-0 Columbus top 4. Barons start at 7. Warthogs are up 3-2, bottom 3. Ryan Rodriguez is pitching. Kanny is in another pitchers' duel early. Adam Russell just gave up a solo HR to start the bottom of the 4th. They trail 1-0.

QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Not to sound cruel, but it WAS her fault. She is the one that hit the wrong pedal. Yes, it was an accident, but it was still her fault. DK was right, she willprobably need years of therapy. I hope you realize that is exactly what I was saying. Like Jeckle said, I don't know how you hit the wrong pedal. However, I've heard stories of people doing it all the time. People are idiots, what can I say?

Bulls were up 21-14, but Atlanta made a 15-1 run to finish the first quarter. 39-34 Hawks mid 2nd.

This thread is a jinx. The Twins are 5-0 since the thread. Get it outta here.

QUOTE(soxfan420 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 09:29 AM) i know crede has it in him, he has 2 learning seasons under his belt and will finially put his doubters to rest. Crede made the predicted 7 game hit streak. His stats during the streak are in my sig.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Mariotti is right though. Best things the Cubs could do is get rid of Baker. He's absolutely atrocious and I've never seen a guy ruin such a pitching staff by overworking his staff. Well duh. I know you've been saying this all along and Cubs fans are beginning to come around to it. He was the guy to take that team one game from the WS even though any idiot could have managed that team to the playoffs and then some.

QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 12:37 PM) I imagine this girl will need years of therapy. Yeah, that's probably true. How do you convince her that it wasn't her fault? You can't. Wow.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) If Duncan is healthy it's over IMO Ditto. The Nuggets are hot, but everybody will be playing their best in the playoffs. -
Hitting streak is at 6. Crede is hitting .350 over that stretch. Since his first two games Crede is hitting .286. Suck it Crede haters.
-
Nah, it wasn't ugly, just close down the stretch.

Ok, let's go through the run down. 3 really good pitching outings from our starters tonight. As Mn said, Adkins got rocked. The Knights lost 6-2, they are now 1-7, yuck. Spidale went 1-3 with a walk and a run. Anderson 0-2, but 2 walks. Lopez 2-3 with a run. Munoz and Winklesas were solid in relief. Box Score As Bham said, the Barons won 8-7 to improve to 4-3 and hand Montgomery their first loss of the year (7-1). Young's solo HR was his only positive of the night. Fields 2-4 with a RBI. He's hitting .368, but still without an extra base hit. Sweeney 2-3 with a walk and 2 runs. Tracey had 6+ shutout innings. Pollok blew up and was part of a 7 run inning from an 8-0 lead. Jenks with the save. Box Score Winston-Salem won 4-2 to move to 3-5. Valido with a banner day going 4-4 with a double and an RBI. Flores had 5 shutout innings, I love it coming from my AAP. Box Score In a great pitchers' duel the Intimidators (5-3) beat Asheville 1-0 behind Ray Liotta. Liotta is freaking sick, it looks like he is going to quickly become one of the hottest prospects in the org. 7 IP, 0 R, 9 K, 2 BB, 4 hits. Ching Lo deserves mention for going 7 IP, 1 R himself, but in the loss. Egbert and Zaleski combined for 2 innings of perfect relief. A 2nd inning solo HR by Josh Hansen held up. Box Score

Bulls win, Wizards win, Pacers lose against Philly. So with 3 to go we are one game ahead of the Wizards and 2 games ahead of Indiana. At least we only have one team on our tail now. Remaining Schedules Bulls: @ Atl, NY, @ Ind Wiz: Cha, @ NJ, @ NY Pacers: @ Mia, @ Orl, Chi It looks good for us not having to care about the Indiana game, thankfully. The Wiz might be able to win out, but I got my fingers crossed for them lsoing at the Nets. I think we should be able to win our next 2. And with the schedule the Pacers have they should be an afterthought in the race for the 4th seed.
-
I'd stay away from those 3 for another few weeks unless they are going to sit on your bench. It's too early to tell and these 3 are all guys that were question marks as to where they would perform. We know they are all talented enough to be more than solid for your fantasy team, but don't start them for another couple weeks or so IMO. There are more proven options out there (there have to be). However, gun to my head, I'm a gambling man and a Garland fan so there's your answer.

Bham is up 5-0 through 5, with only 5 hits for the Barons. Young with another HR. Tracey so far 5 IP, 0 R, 2 K, 2 BB, 3 hits.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) Maybe it's just me, but I'm lukewarm on Fields starting the year at Birmingham. I know he had a real good finish to the season after a slow start, but it didn't look like he dominated to the point where he was ready for the promotion -- at least, from looking at the box scores (which certainly doesn't tell the whole story). I sure hope they don't rush him, seems like he can be a pretty special player. IIRC I did some stats on him for FS. He got really hot at the end of the year (last month or so), but I forgot the exact stats and don't think that article exists anymore because we moved FS. Anyway, he deserved to be in AA to start the year. Plus, he has started off very well. 5-15 with 5 walks, 4 Ks. Granted no extra base hits, which is weird. Usually a guy will run into a few and the average comes later, at least as far as power hitters are concerned. Hopefully he keeps it up.

For future reference, can we please not have the following teams' fans visit here: Cubs (well, duh!) Twins Indians Tigers Royals Yankees I think it would make sense to NOT do this with division rivals because it would get too intense for many to handle. As for the Yankees, too many of our posters have way too much hate for them to allow them on our board.

No offense Kong, this isn't directed at you. However, am I supposed to give a s*** what a bunch of nerds say my browser should be able to do? It loads the pages with no problem. That's good enough for me.

your personal worst sports moment

8th grade soccer game. We have the ball in the other team's penalty box. One guy had it and then a quick pass and some dribbles and before I know it the guy right behind me, on my own team, has the ball. I was making a run so I was surprised when I saw he had the ball. He was already cocked to take a shot. I knew I didn't have time to get out of the way. I figured he would lift it so I ducked. I guessed wrong, he hits a roller right into my side. -
Good writeup, but the UK on the whole isn't all that great. It's more England during league games that is ok, when it comes to internationals and Scotland and Ireland it's not as pretty. Canada and the US are only exempt because we don't care about soccer. And btw, Beasley is my favorite player since watching him on the Fire. I really hope the US does well in 06 (wow, hard to believe it's only a year away) and Beasley's club team, PSV Eindhoven (Dutch club), is in the Champion's League semis.

That's probably the best Bang cartoon yet. I love the cameo made by Ricky Williams and his bong. Peyton as Brady's dog, oh man that's awesome. Major Attentine Whore. All classic. -
QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) According to the article, these kids had no history. Well yeah, that's because no one has seen them do it.

I scrolled down that website for a quick look and of course looked at the Anti-Popes. I remember that vaguely from World Civ. freshman year. Anyway, there were 2 Popes from 1378-1414 (aka Great Schism) and this gem caught my eye "Pope Urban had six cardinals tortured for daring to plot against him". Wow, and you wonder why the Church has lost popularity through the many years it has been around. :headshake
