  1. Scott Pods has missed a solid chunk of games so far and Frank is out. Scott Pods will produce very little power and Frank should be able to lead the team in OBP even if he is hitting in the .260s. I'm really not worried about it. We're just plain sucking on offense. .245 team average is no good either.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) and that asshold Couhey in Florida Sorry to find humor in your post but that asshold typo is just awesome.
  3. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 02:16 PM) Sweeney might be one of the 5 youngest players in AA in all the minors, you guys are harsh. He smoked everything against major league and AAA type pitchers all spring. He's the last guy we should be worrying about, IMO... I know, I know, but to this day I'm still mad about the overhype given to him last spring. I still don't understand why you want to push a guy slightly beyond the extent of his abilities, wait till he catches up to the level, and then move him up just slightly beyond his abilities again. Would a month or 2 at Kanny last season and then another month or 2 in W-S to start this year hurt any?
  4. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 10:40 PM) 8 now after that HR that tied the game tonight . Go Joe !! Actually it's 9 after the HR.
  5. QUOTE(iWiN4PreP @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) I agree 100%. But look on the other hand to the red sox Retards. They win one series in 86 years and riot. + the 86 reasons page to hate the red sox lol. (if you havent seen it it was somewhere on forum duno where) That was ESPN.com Page 2. It was awesome. I had to stick it in my AIM profile for a few days.
  6. Charlotte is 1-10. Stewart got rocked, Munoz gave up another run in 1.1 IP (7.04 ERA), the Knights scored 1 run. On the upside Burke went 2-3 to get over the Mendoza Line and Anderson went 1-2 with a walk, 2B, and a run. Fields more good relief. He looks like he could get a shot with the big league club sometime this year if he keeps this up (1.29 ERA). Box Score The 'Hogs rallied for 4 runs in the last 3 innings to win 4-1. Valido is scorching, 3-5 with a 2B today, .367 on the season. Collaro and Schnurstein manage 2 hits each. Haeger continues to pitch well. 6 IP, 1 R, 7 K, 1 BB, 8 hits, 1.93 ERA. Is he still a knuckler to anyone's knowledge? Box Score Gio finally gave up a run this season, and it came in a 3-0 loss. 5 IP, 3 R (2 ER), 9 K, 1 BB, 3 hits. Box Score
  7. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) I'm beginning to fret about Sweeney. I know he's 20 and in AA, but the Sox should have left him in Winston-Salem this year. I don't understand how anyone deserves a promotion after slugging a massive .379. He showed last year that his power might be sketchy at best with only 22 doubles in 500+ at bats. Normally a prospect can gain more power by turning his doubles into home runs, but it won't happen by starting out hitting 22 doubles. I think Sweeney should be put on a much slower time table, I really don't agree with the scouts here. When I saw Sweeney, he was lunging right at the ball which was sapping all of his power. He still has flaws to work out, and AA isn't the place to do it. I know. I was thinking he was turning the corner late last season, but I'm not sure after the sluggish start in AA. It's early, but he's not the golden boy, that's for sure.
  8. So much for the minor league draft. And btw, how is it possible to have a team ERA of 2.00 along with a 0.97 WHIP and manage 0 wins? WTF? Now tonight Hudson throws 9 shutout innings to get a freaking no decision.
  9. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) i have the mp3 of that and yes it does kickass. Haha yeah. Brings back memories of the Bulls winning titles too. Ahh...good times.
  10. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) And, uck -- Fields hitting in the .250's, Owens hitting at the Mendoza line, and Young hitting below it -- are those three overmatched? I know it's very early, but... Fields was hitting .368 2 days ago and has gone 0-8 in the last 2 games. That's no big deal. Also, I don't see where the Sox get off putting Owens in AA. Last season in low A he hit .292 with a .714 OPS. Along with his .365 obp those are good numbers, but worthy of skipping a level?
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) Oh yeah, by the way Bobby you ARE jewish. I don't get how just because you were born to a religion you are forced to be that religion the rest of your life. A religion is something you believe in, not a physical trait. I hate that people always make that mistake. For the record, he was friends with Schaap from age 12, before he beat Spaasky. Also, he shaved his beard for the press conference in Iceland.
  12. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) This team could move up or down for receiver help but I think they get DeAngelo Hall anoteh mate int he DB-field Yeah, secondary PLEASE!
  13. QUOTE(marinergeek @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 10:24 PM) LOL - You're forgetting we lost 99 games last year. A couple of road losses won't scare us away. Actually, I was hoping for more of a two way street, but I think we only got 2-3 Sox fans to come visit us. Maybe next time. I tried to register, but never got the confirmation email.
  14. Rogowski is hitting .394. Barons Box Score Warthogs got railed 15-8. Valido 2-5 with a HR, he's hitting .341. Hinton 3-5 with a HR. Collaro 2-4 with a walk. Carlos Lee 2-4, he's hitting .526. Castro was the only guy to pitch well. Box Score
  15. The Knights fell in 12 innings. The losing continues. They were down 3 runs going into the 9th. Borchard pinch hit after a leadoff single and grounded into a DP. Spidale hit a 3 run HR to tie it up though. 2-5, HR, 3 RBI, run, BB for Spidale. Phillips got rocked. Fields, Baj, Walker, and Smith kept the Knights in it before Munoz lost it. Box Score Kannapolis scored 17 runs off 23 hits! Berry 2-5 with a HR. De Los Santos 2-6 with 3 runs. Ricks 3-5 with HR, 4 RBI, 4 runs. Hansen 4-6, HR, 4 RBI, 4 runs. Castillo 4-6, 2 2B. King 3-5, 2 HR, 5 RBI, 3 runs. Everybody managed a hit, 8 hitters managed 2 hits or more. Harrell got beat around, but good relief. Box Score
  16. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) Getting kicked out is overrated. Agreed. It doesn't do s***.

  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) You should change that to read Freddy is awful to watch at U.S. Cellular. Especially if he's becoming less of a strikeout pitcher, he's really going to have problems pitching at home. That last inning had nothing to do with the park he was pitching in. He gave up walks and singles that would be hits in any park.
  19. QUOTE(Sparks4Ever @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) http://www.motownsports.com is another nice Tigers board with more traffic than tigerstalk. Best poster name ever. Steve Sparks rocks!
  20. QUOTE(DetroitWhat @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) If this keeps happening I say we just club his knee and get it over with... LMAO! I think you might have a few volunteers from this site. Some of our fans have taken bad blood towards Maggs after not accepting our offer last year and then taking Boras as his agent.
  21. Why are all the choices questions? I hope we keep Curry. We won't get value in return for him.
  22. I moved your Barons game thread into here because it's repetitive. From now on you can just post your recaps and such in the day's game thread please. We don't need two threads with the same info. As for the games, Charlotte lost 10-5. Villacis and Smith didn't do so well tonight. Sanders did pitch well out of the pen though. Martinez, Anderson, Bikowski, and Casanova each had 2 hits. Anderson is hitting .296 right now, not a bad start. Meanwhile, Lopez, Borchard, and Burke are all below the Mendoza Line. Box Score Barons Box Score Ryan Rodriguez led the Warthogs to an 8-4 victory. Valido is still rolling, 2-5, 2B, 3B, 2 runs, .333 on season. Amador went 3-4 with a HR. 2 hits each for Hinton and Collaro (HR). Rodriguez went 6 IP, 2 R, 5 K, 2 BB, 6 hits. Box Score Kanny managed 9 hits and only 1 run in their 3-1 loss. They squandered bases loaded, 1 out in the 1st. They had 10 runners in scoring position, 1 scored. Corpseball at it's finest. :headshake Berry had 2 hits and De Los Santos had 3. Russell went 6 IP, 3 R, 2 K, 2 BB, 7 hits. Box Score
  23. Bulls down 15 at half. :headshake
