  1. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Like my mom tells me, "you never know who has a gun or a knife" Ha, that sounds like the exact line my mom uses minus the knift part. She's from the southside, what should I expect? I think people are overlooking the point SS2k5 is making. The kid snapped because he was getting made fun of. There's a difference between everyday making fun and the constant badgering and namecalling that happens everyday to kids who have few friends and are made as outcasts in school. There's a point where it goes too far. Granted, the black and white of this issue is mostly gray so it's hard to tell. The point I'm trying to make is that the asshole deserved a beating, but he 'just happened' to get killed. As far as I'm concerned both kids went too far.
  2. BMac only pitched 4.2 innings tonight against Toledo. He gave up 5 hits, 2 walks, and a 3 run HR by Dewayne Wise in the 5th leading to him getting pulled. He struck out 5. That's early to pull a guy, but the manager must have seen he didn't have it or, god forbid, he's hurt. It is early in the season so it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to pull a starter early. However, it freaked me out a bit when I saw BMac had only given up 3 runs and got pulled in the 5th inning. Then I looked at the log and it makes sense after a HR. Heck, it could have even been a rain issue. Spidale is back in the lineup DHing from the leadoff spot. Updating Box Score Birmingham is off. Winston-Salem is hosting Myrtle Beach. Haigwood is pitching. It's 1-0 Myrtle Beach after 4. Updating Box Score Kanny is down 1-0, mid 3rd. Some G Hansen guy is pitching. Deduno is pitching for opposing Asheville and has issued 4 walks and surrendered 0 hits in 3 innings. Updating Box
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 08:03 AM) Is he still posting high strike out totals? If so, is it his eye or is it a long swing that is causing them. Like Bham said it's his long swing. Supposedly he had trouble seeing curveballs at some point last year, but he does draw walks pretty well so it's not a patience issue.
  4. QUOTE(sec159row2 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) btw... i was told on a U2 messege board that nobody calls it "pot" anymore... Everyone in my high school calls it pot. That's just wrong.
  5. It's the tradition of playing on New Year's. The NFL has no place to kick the college teams off. College and the NFL have avoided each other in the past. Why not this year? It's just ridiculous. The sad thing is that the Bowls would easily maul a lowly regular season week for the NFL.
  6. LOL, 4 of these threads within a minute. So I'll go with this one because it was first. They're going to get merged anyway.
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Hafner misses a HR by about 6 feet. Tribe still alive. Two out. Man on 2B. 6 feet? That's a very tall wall and the ball wasn't even half way up.
  8. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) crap! 3-1 the count against the dangerous hafner! SMOKESSS!!! You gotta relax dude, 3-2.
  9. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) hell yeah! how can you not be against the tribe with a game this tight! COME ON HERMY!!!! I'm not nervous. Hermanson is solid.
  10. I'm starting to hate the Wizards just by watching this game. It will be fun when we have more guys and kick their asses in the playoffs (if we play them). That Chandler call was ridiculous. The proof that it wasn't intentional was that he was calm after getting ejected. Most guys explode because they were already mad so it's obvious they did something intentional. Great effort by the guys, I knew they would make a comeback and they will hopefully keep pushing. Oh and f*** that ref. It is a consolation at watching Kwame Brown suck though. Imagine that the Wizards picked him ahead of Chandler and Curry among others.
  11. When I saw the top of the picture I thought this was a thread of someone bashing the lack of attendance. I was thinking there had to be more people than that. Cool pic!
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) Gio got some innings (albeit, just a few) with the Warthogs last year, correct? If he pitches fairly well in Kanny, how long do you guys think before he gets the promotion? Is there a possibility he takes the B-Mac route -- Kanny to Salem, then perhaps some innings at Birmy if all goes well? He got innings at Kanny at the end of last year after pitching well with Bristol. That's probably helped a bit with his nice start to this season. I don't see him moving along like BMac did. First off, it took one of the best seasons in all of the minors for BMac to jump 3 levels. Second, because Gio is younger than BMac was and he came straight out of high school as opposed to BMac getting some JC time. So the Sox will be less likely to rush him along IMO.
  13. Yeah, that's sick. Great to see him put up BMac like numbers to start the year.
  14. Winston-Salem has been getting their games in somehow. They won 6-2 today. Daigle went 3-4 with a walk and an RBI, Schnur 2-5 with a double and a run. Carlos Lee is tearing it up! 3-3 today with a HR, 3 RBI, and 2 runs. He is batting .857 on the season, only 7 at-bats (6 hits), but still impressive. Haeger had a nice start. Castro and Wasserman finish the game off with nice relief. Box Score Kanny is currently playing Greensboro as part of a doubleheader to make up yesterday's rain out. In game 1 Kanny leads 2-0 through 5. Josh Hansen hit a HR off Jason Vargas in a good pitching matchup against Gio Gonzalez. Gio has 9 Ks, 1 hit, 0 BB so far in 5 shutout innings of work.
  15. Yesterday the Warthogs lost 6-5. Nanita tore it up from the leadoff spot. 3-5, 2 RBI, 2 doubles, 2 runs. Bakker got rocked. Nice relief from Hernandez and Miller. Box
  16. Hey Bears fans mark this date on your calendar: Dec 18. It's the day the Falcons whoop the Bears' asses in Soldier Field.
  17. QUOTE(Credepopsup @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) I can't really speak for other countries, but the progress made on stopping hooliganism here has been so good, that one of the SAFEST places to be in Britain, is inside a soccer stadium. Yeah, but for some reason Premier League crowds are tamer than, say Serie A. The Italians are nuts, this is the 2nd time in Italy they have had stuff thrown onto the field. Earlier in the Champions League in Rome, a fan threw a coin at the ref. From what I know the English only go super nuts for International games. Not to say they don't support their club teams, because they do, but they aren't overly routy for them.
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) If anyone catches any errors please tell me because I was in a hurry while editing it. I caught a decent amount of errors and fixed them. There are probably more as I was in hurry while reading it. Well, not really, I was too busy getting distracted by you on AIM. :rolly
  19. Baj's site is sweet. I didn't know he had one. Glad I checked it out.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 11, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) All I remember is Morse, Ulacia and someone else were suspended for 'violating team rules'. McNichol of the Barons was the other guy you are thinking of. He had a great year last year for them.
  21. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Apr 12, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) it was much better last season just to get the boxes from baseball america. Last year was fine. The site was run by sports network as opposed to MLBAM running it now. Figures that an MLB org. would screw it up.
  22. This is so they could suspend him without suspending Haslem for retaliation after hitting Wade. Gotta protect your superstars. :rolly
