He's just been on some bad teams. His ERA's were very impressive for a hitters' league. I think W-L is probably the most overrated statistic for pitchers. At best they are only half responsible for whether their team wins or losses anyway. It happens where a pitcher doesn't give up a run and doesn't get a win.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:40 AM) Statistically, research has shown that a murderer is less likely to commit a new crime than a sex offender. Not to sound like I'm disagreeing with you because that sounds like it makes sense. However, statistically, wouldn't a murderer be in jail longer anyway so they would have less time to commit another crime?

Doctor's orders: Don't play T.O.
danman31 replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I hope he plays and breaks his leg again, and worse, so he has to miss a lot of time and his career is ruined. Then as he's injured during the game the NE fans should cheer to make fun of the asshole Philly fans that deserve to rot in hell. Also, is anyone else as happy as I am that Chad Lewis has to miss the Super Bowl after acting like a complete jackoff with his retarded psycho points to his teammates? Yeah, that's right, I'm f***ing bitter. -
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) I do not have a problem with you doing that, but you should have to provide proof of residency to do so. The same proof of residency that is required to vote in a precinct or district should be sufficient. What if you are coming in from out of town or something? Why shouldn't you be allowed to see the list?

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) For persons of high intelligence the most depressing day is the day they pay their local, state, & federal taxes. They understand that getting a refund simply means they gave the govt more than they had to in the course of the past year & that they lost money they could have made on that money. I guess under a bell curve that would fall around St Patty's Day. How do you live with yourself if that is the most depressing day of the year? To all, I don't know if it was on the article, but was this an average of past years or was it a projection that it would be the worst day of this year?

Sorry to thread hijack here, but when I read the title at first glance when skimming through forum thread titles I thought it said something along the lines of Sox4lifePA being a listed sex offender online. That is all.

I see that Buehrle is on there because of Aboz's choosing, however, he just doesn't fit. If you could somehow theme the 3 it would make sense, but Buehrle is anything but new blood on this team, esp. when compared to Pierzynski and Dye.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) He's gonna struggle .262/.343/.365 -- 11HR, 45 RBI, 31SB, countless balls not played because the backhanded scoop is shameful. Bastard! You stole my predicted average! .262/.325/.370 14 HR, 60 RBI, 21 SB

QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) that link looks like its from another league. 71 games in '06... Yeah, it's another league. And somehow he hit .331 with some s*** ratings.

Unofficial NIT Hot Chick Contest

Jennie Finch was in the real thing. You have her in this too. -
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) I said since jordan left, implying more than just this year. What's the difference? That's the past. This team doesn't deserve comparisons to the other post Jordan teams other than the fact that they are way better than those teams.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) I hate snow, that is all that i know. Amen. I hate Chicago weather in the winter. I don't even mind the cold, it's this damn snow.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) Now they are coming home to play the bulls who they have pwned since jordan left. December 22nd: Bulls 89, Pistons 82 @ Detroit. Some pwnage huh. They did it before, they can do it again. I wouldn't pick the Bulls in this one, but I'm just saying it's possible.

The UAB Memphis game on ESPN2 this afternoon is being announced by Jason Williams, formerly of Duke and the Bulls. Good to see him with a job. I wonder if this means he has given up on returning to basketball as a player or at the very least it's looking doubtful for him. Anybody know if this is a one shot deal or has he been announcing more games this year?

If the Bulls truely are a .500 club, they will get there in their next 6 games.

QUOTE(bogie @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) I don't think "Borchard SUCKED in AAA" is completely accurate........ His career AAA average was .263. Would you like me to say that he played well below expectations instead of sucked?
-
I didn't know they were still making music.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) If we don't win tonight, .500 may be tough to get before March. Wrong. The Bulls next 5 games after Detroit are all winnable. @Atlanta, Denver, Charlotte, Boston, @New Jersey. We may not stay at .500 for long because the next 5 games will all be tough games to win, but they should be able to get there even if only for a short while.

The Jayhawks aren't treating you well on your birthday! I'm wishing happy birthday to a Kansas fan. Never thought I'd see the day.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 22, 2005 -> 02:08 AM) I think that would be doubtful at best, with Borchard and Escobar most likely going to be everyday players for the Knights. Frankly I'd like to see Anderson spend a month or 2 at Birmingham, and then he can finish the year off at Charlotte and be a September call - up. I don't want to rush him into the big leagues, if he's definitely not ready. We don't want another Borchard situation here. It's hard to see in the next 2 seasons, if he was with the Sox, how he would be an everyday player either. I'm willing to bet Anderson will be in AAA to start the year. Besides, I don't see the Borchard comparisons. Borch sucked in AAA and spent multiple seasons there. How is that at all like Anderson without seeing Anderson play in AAA yet?
-
Anderson will be ahead of Spidale in Charlotte if there is only one spot for the 2 of them. I would hope and think Spidale has a spot in AAA as well.

The Score's losing to ESPN AM 1000 in the ratings:

QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Jan 21, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) "So what? We deserve it. We didn't win this time." Anybody else read this and think it was like the 'This is Sportscenter' commercials where they show Kenny Mayne and Dan Patrick getting interviewed in the locker room like it's a sporting event? 'We didn't win this time.' It's ratings, geez. Besides, the score could fall off the dial and it wouldn't bother me one bit. -
Well as for what BMac's teammates have said, his stuff is going to look a hell of a lot better when it's working like it was last year. From what I've read though most of his stuff improved a lot this year, especially his curve and change come to mind. I thought he worked on adding a change this season and his curve improved, but I could be wrong. Either way, BMac has awesome control so I would have to think that he would only need smarts and above average stuff to put up the numbers he did this year.

I got it to work. I had to turn off my firewall. I have 2 characters: Danman and BMac. Danman is a 2nd baseman. I'm trying to get BMac as a pitcher, but I've yet to pitch. I'm playing now if you see me come in. Zero already watched me strikeout on 3 pitches.
