  1. Well, he's got ties in AZ, like a home. Chicago he's got nothing, no reason to come here whatsoever.
  2. you need to quit making sense
  3. lol, definitely one of those "you love em' or you hate em'" candies.
  4. mmmmmmgood n' plenty
  5. KW is in a tough spot with payroll. I don't think that there's any question that the TALENT has been there for the last 2 years. In 2003, the team should have went to the ALCS, they had decent pitching and one of the most powerful offenses in MLB. Can you fault Kenny? I don't think so. Last season we had another offensive juggernaut until Maggs and Frank were both lost. We should've won the division last year given our roster out of ST, plus the addition of FG. But, injuries to your 3 and 4 hitters will take many teams out of contention. I do agree that KW's job is somewhat on the line, but I'm not sure it would be after this next season. I can only imagine that JR sees the same faults that we all have, and most of those faults lie in the players themselves and their lack of talent when put under pressure.

An occassional snoop is necessary in my opinion. Those snoops can allow you to nip problems in the bud before they get out of hand. It's always important to know as much about your kid as possible, this allows you to parent accordingly. Hell, you never know, perhaps most of the time you'll walk away proud of your kid like Tex did.
  7. Errrrr, maybe Jim's buddy read the post on whitesox.com.
  8. I don't believe it will affect the Extra Innings package. That's the safest bet for getting all the Sox games. I know that NESN and YES (Red Sox and Yankees own sports networks) were both carried on that package the last two seasons.

Headed down to the in-laws place in southern GA. Although the food is absolutely outstanding (country cookin' rocks), the deer hunting talk that dominates every conversation with these 'necks absolutely kills me. It's not so much the wiff's immediate fam, they're pretty cool, it's the extended family. Bittersweet affair. Oh, and they aren't NFL football fans, so I have to somehow manage to turn the game on without getting a set of dentures thrown at the back of my head while doing so.
  10. Actually, in a comprehensive survey from August, sponsored by a non-partisan group, 57% of Americans consider themselves "conservative". As usual, I don't have a link being I read this awhile back, but take it for what it's worth to ya.
  11. If JR and KW can't see the value (dominance, attendance, media attention, veteran presence, championship experience) in having 2 years of the Big Unit on the southside then we've got bigger problems with this franchise than we thought.
  12. I remember reading a couple of weeks ago that any trade involving RJ would have to include atleast a 1yr extension to his deal. I wish I had a source for you but I don't.
  13. I find it hard to believe that Renteria will only go for $6.5M when Guzman and Vizquel have gotten ~$4M/yr. I could see Renteria getting $9M-$10M, not that he's worth anywhere close to that, IMO.
  14. No question you would have American troops there as quickly as possible. Spain was different, it was a terrorist attack, not an invading force. We're already pursuing terrorist networks. As far as an actual military attack on Australia or the UK, we'd be there quicker than we got to Afghanistan.
  15. Thanks for doing my research for me. Although I have to ask the question, the loopholes allow citizens to manipulate their incomes to find tax shelters. Those manipulations essentially create a lower income. In other words, Heinz-Kerry's tax return may have said something like $2.5M income, yet she was legally hiding another $2.5M. She may have paid 29% on the $2.5M reported, but when adjusted for her actual income, the level would drop well below the 29% she should be paying. I don't know this for sure, I'm not an accountant and don't work in the financial world, this is just my perception. As far as the savings breaks, most rich people's accountants already have their clients monies hidden in tax free accounts, I don't see how this will change things much. EDIT:: What's the difference between "gross income" and "ADJUSTED gross income"?
  16. It's not an anecdote, she paid 11% in income tax last year. The GOP talking heads made sure that we all knew this too.
  17. Yeah, I'm dumbfounded that ANY ML team would want Sosa. He costs more than Beltran will probably cost.

I appreciate the suggestions. I tried the auctionsniper and haven't won yet, 0-2. The sniping program doesn't offer near the advantage that I always thought it did. Really, it boils down to whether or not your highest bid beats the other guy's. A 5 second lead time through the auctionsniper leaves plenty of time for EBay to up the bid to the highest price available.
  19. Let me answer your question. Theresa Heinz-Kerry made upwards of $5Million last year and paid in at an 11% tax rate. I'm firm middle class and paid over 20%. No need for reform, eh? No need to get rid of loopholes, eh? I couldn't disagree with you more. The FACT of the matter is that low-income Americans will have a lesser tax burden due to the fact that all these folks with the money to find the loopholes will now be held accountable for their full income. This will increase tax revenues and lessen the burden on those of us who can't afford to find those loopholes.

Has anyone used an Ebay sniper and if so, which have you found to be the best/safest? Got some new shoes I want on ebay but i'd prefer to drop my bid in at the last possible second being there are some other folks bidding. Thanks.
  22. That'd be one hell of a first step in trying to draw this divided country back together. Ashcroft seems to be a hated man on the left...hell, I'm on the right and I really don't trust the guy. And even better yet, I dont' think Guiliani will be bursting out in song at any press events like ole Ashcroft.
  23. and in other news....Bob Jackson of Ogden, Utah, noticed some worms in his dog's feces this morning.
  24. read somewhere else that the last time that provisional ballots had to be used was in IL some years ago. 11% of the provisional ballots were considered valid and counted. In other words, it's over. If Kerry drags this out past tomorrow he will disgrace his party.
