  1. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 20, 2008 -> 08:04 AM) I believe that Barack Obama best represents my interests as an American. Although he is not a true supporter of marriage equality, he is miles ahead of most other politicians in this regard, at least offering many of the same rights and responsibilities to same sex couples as current married couples. I also, have come to believe that Senator Obama will act in a level headed way and make responsible decisions when it comes to issues of foreign affairs, primarily by using diplomacy first and foremost when acting with other state actors, and doing what's necessary to keep America safe when fighting against hostile rogue actors (terrorist organizations.) I believe that Barack Obama will take steps to bring us back to a situation where respect for the law is something shared by both the people and government, although I don't think that he will take all the steps necessary in the end. I believe that Obama will be a flexible leader and willing to work with both sides of the aisle to get things accomplished. To me, Obama's candidacy represents giving Americans a seat at the table again when it comes to issues that concern us. And that's a value we haven't seen in decades. Plus he looks snappy in that jacket.
  2. I know here at ISU we had a pink-out against Texas last February for breast cancer awareness.
  3. I'd nut if we could swing Peavy, but I'm guessing he'd cost a bit much, both in $ and talent. Just sayin'.
  4. is he mrs ripken?

I am also being called "E"
  6. So, Tulsa with 49 at the half. ISU vs Texas A&M next week, on TV for some reason. WHO WILL MAKE THEIR CLAIM AS THE BIG TWELVE'S WORST?
  7. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 17, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) Dental Plan Lisa needs braces
  8. McCain was actually quite a bit funnier.
  9. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 05:54 PM) No I will not.....I waited a long time for the right to be an ass. Remember when ISU once beat KU five straight? Similarly, remember when ISU basketball used to be relevant? Good times.
  10. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 11:07 PM) oh I cannot wait for more SIU is god talk. I am so excited to see the next generation of KU(7 incoming players) and the most talented group of recruits of any school for late night. What do you think is KU's shot at Barnes? Talking to someone that knows him, ISU leads. I tend to think there's less than a 50% chance he stays in Ames, but we're still the school with the best shot.

New contender for 2008 Thread of the Year.
  12. Plus, him and Buehrle seem to be good friends. Hopefully both are in White Sox for the foreseeable future.
  13. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 10:11 PM) Everyone here knows McCain won this. If not go hang with AHB. NSS, at least you admitted the obvious. hey now, i thought he won as well. But, it doesn't matter what we think.
  14. CNN shows a sizeable win for Obama in their polling, which really surprises me. If the general public does in fact think that, we're at the point in the game where John McCain needs to start fouling to have any sort of shot to get back in the game.
  15. Did John McCain spend more time talking about Barack Obama or himself? I'd like raw numbers, cause it honestly is close.
  16. I kinda liked the conflict. Made for good tv.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 09:42 PM) CNN making a lot about the reaction shots. I guess other networks weren't using the side by side shots. Said McCain looked angry and flustered at times with the way he was looking around during Obama's answers and replies. Who was McCain looking at out in the crowd? He was looking off into the distance.
  18. The real question is who Joe the plumber is supporting. I thought McCain did better than the other debates. I'd probably give McCain a small edge.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) Heads...what's your projection for Iowa St this year? Seems like it's Brackins or bust. Optimistic: 19-14 (6-10) Pessimistic: 12-20 (2-14) Realistic: 16-16 (4-12) It's kind of wildcard since we don't know what we have, but we probably don't have much. Yes, a lot depends on Brackins, but Staiger and Vanderbeken will also have to step up. BTW:
  20. And yet, no one has brought up that SS2k is surfing some website called "GayPatriot". Is there anything you need to tell us, or, more importantly, your wife, ss2k?
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) If ONLY! ISU is the Walter Cronkite school, no? Did I spell his last name right? Dear God I hate our Journalism school. I met one useful prof in two years.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 08:45 PM) Yes, they do. Not a snowball's f***ing chance in hell that I'd EVER vote for her though, under any circumstances, for anything. McCain's being penalized for choosing Palin.
  23. Not too bad. Of course, I quit out of the prestigious ISU journalism school.
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 04:10 PM) Just keep your eyes open. McCain will beat the polls by a significant number of points. Obama will still probably win, IMO. But its not in the bag yet. Well, his path is a lot easier. He'll win all the Kerry states. Add in Iowa, and he's up to 259. 10(+1) EV gets him the presidency. There's also no reason to think he won't win NM, which gets him up to 264. That means he needs to win NV or WV to get to 269, or any one of CO, FL, MO, IN, OH, VA, NC. It's gonna take a real hit to not pick one of those up.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 07:02 AM) Or as Alex likes to call it "Friday night". Last time it was Saturday morning.
