Humber
Can we wait until he fails for us until we pronounce him crap? I understand people are tentative about him as our fifth starter, but, god, it's not like we've ever turned around a former first round top prospect by getting him into our system.

ISU is rumored to be taking yet another transfer (more than likely). Since we've run out of Spartans to take on, I wonder who it could be.

Catch All Anything Thread
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 22, 2011 -> 07:36 AM) Wow, I have no idea what I would do if I lost one of my childhood friends like that, Im sorry for you loss. I've only had to go through that once. Had a friend put a gun behind his ear. It's just so surreal.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
I love how people are getting pissed at Jake for pitching his last start. It's not like Jake has the final call. Ozzie, Coop and Herm had to give him the go ahead, so if its his last start that aggravated it (when he had the flu) they deserve as much blame as anything. Christ, people hated guys like Javy and Swish for their less than competitive attitude.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (since56 @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 07:00 PM) Mark Prior, oops! I mean Jake Peavy comes back when he can and goes into the bullpen until we can dump him on another desperate for pitching team. First of all, his contract makes him impossible to "dump." Secondly, I suppose if we want to hurt his value and completely mindf*** him, we can do that.

If that Dodgers lineup is anything close to their opening day lineup they will suck hard.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) That's a best case scenario. But let this be a final lesson as far as spring training fluff goes. It's certainly no reason to get pissed at anyone. Peavy obviously was letting the Sox know what was going on and they are trying to take care of the issue now rather than letting it linger.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) And please...no more JFP. The Sox are so screwed. Albatross or however you spell it contract for a Mark Prior clone. You realize he hasn't even been scratched from Thursday yet, right? It obviously doesn't look good, but this is more than likely symptomatic of the lat injury and him not being able to go through normal offseason workouts. Chances are he'll miss some starts, start the season on the DL, get a few starts in Charlotte and be ready by May.

Peavy had rotator cuff tendinitis
So....do they start stretching out Humber? (Sale seems less likely). Who now lands in the pen if Peavy starts on the DL?

Good news for Humber, probably.

Make it Milledge
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) He came off ok in the interview, but I've heard Milton Bradley sound ok in interviews too. I've heard Adam Dunn say he's a good teammate. I'll take his word for it. I just hope Ozzie or his teammates teach him how to act on the field. The guys that disrespect the game tend to not stick around. The White Sox clubhouse is....different. As long as he's not like Swish or OCab, he's got a shot.

Pitching Depth
I agree that pitching is going to have to be a major focus. Maybe we'll take a riskier sign with that first pick since we won't have to give out so much money early. Maybe we don't want to spend that money. Who knows. But we need more pitching talent.

The Finer Things In Life
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 12:35 PM) Awesome! I adore rye, and have never even heard of this one. Only available in Iowa, Illinois, New York, and California for now, but I see Binny's stocks it. Putting that one on my list of spirits to try. I've never had it. It's always under lock and key here, and there's always a rush to get it. It's a big deal in Iowa.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
So, I paid $19.99 for MLB At Bat last year, and it was something I could access on my computer, and I really liked it for games. Is that not an option this year, to have it as something accessible on your computer?

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 12:10 PM) Yeah, if he can't be sent down, as well as he's pitched this spring, he's almost certain to wind up on the roster. Obviously, the hope is that he's the next DJ Carrasco. If he can eat up garbage innings and save the rest of the pitchers, and show a little something, he's worth it.
