The Sale Trade
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 02:02 PM) Kopech would have 6 K's and 0 baserunners allowed so far. And Moncada would have drove in at least 7 by now.

ALDS: Red Sox vs. Astros
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 02:03 PM) Following on ESPN game cast. Sale at 46 pitches through 2 innings. Verlander is at 52 after 3. Not that it matters much, he can throw 800 pitches if he needs to. f***ing inhuman beast.

2017 Minor League Catch-All thread
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 06:45 PM) Gotcha. I take it Rutherford is the guy you wanted in the draft? Going into the draft I wanted Ray. Of the players still available at the time of the pick, yes, Rutherford was my top choice. I'm stoked now with how everything has transpired

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 11:29 AM) I'll be in Houston this weekend for a friend's wedding and I get in at noon on Thursday. I'm thinking of splurging for tickets for Game 1 to see Sale vs. Verlander. Decided to go for it. Got tickets near the 1st base dugout. Badass!!!

Rating the Rebuild: Completed Year 1 Edition
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 08:54 PM) At least I have the guts to admit to my rating of 4. I'm not hiding behind my rating. It's gone up from the 2 last time. It can keep going up. The rebuild is off to a good start. It has a long way to go. I'd have given it a 5 (at this early early stage) but a.) did you see our record this year? b.) have you read the posts here? Some well respected posters in the last couple days have expressed some doubt regarding Burger, Rutherford, Rodon, Fulmer and during the season expressed concern about Lopez and TA. Also to have a great rebuild we're gonna need a bullpen someday; we're gonna need a DH, etc. Hence, 4 (AT THIS TIME). Why is my position so offensive? Cause I haven't drank the koolaid yet?? Be patient. My grade can go up. We're rating the rebuild right now. I know Eloy is doing great and know about Collins, etc. I follow it enough to know who is looking good. I'm pretty satisfied with the performance of our key players. Don't know why my position is so annoying. I want the rebuild to succeed; I acknowledge the rebuild could succeed. But I really don't think it deserves an 8 or 9 right yet. To initially say that what has occurred was "insulting" is an invitation for some criticism but I'll continue to say this: you've got integrity.

Rating the Rebuild: Completed Year 1 Edition
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 02:39 PM) I stand by your posts. Yes I gave the rebuild a 4, it's up from 2 earlier though. I'll be glad to amend if/when we start winning. If it's worthy, baby, I'll give it a 7, 8, 9 even a 10. But right now I'm with south. You're the only poster out of what -- 5,000+ who is going to rate this effort a F... does that tell you anything?

Giancarlo Stanton traded to Yankees
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) That contract is pretty awful. I know he had a huge this year, but that is a dude that has a long history of fighting health and this year was so far and above what he has done in the past. I am not sure I want the Sox to bet a quarter of a billion dollars, PLUS major prospects on the guy. You'll also have to ask yourself what out teams would be interested in acquiring him and what those teams could likely offer.

What do you take from the 2017 season?
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 09:06 AM) have you been watching Guy Ritchie movies? Behind Greg's cold worn down negative Nancy exterior, there lies a sweetheart somewhere hidden.

What do you take from the 2017 season?
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 06:52 AM) I've got a lot of concerns about Giolito. I understand why the broadcasters are trying to sell that 2.38 ERA, but I'm finding it very hard to buy, as it comes next to a 4.94 FIP, .189 BABIP, and a staggering 92% LOB rate. The only positives I can see are the 2.38 BB/9 rate and the fact that his homerun rate looks about where it should be, or maybe a touch high even, which at least suggests he wasn't getting lucky there. That said, I had the opportunity to watch him live and up close when was in Lehigh shortly before his call-up, and from that look and what I saw on TV, I remain mystified that his stuff isn't leading to better results. The curveball, especially, is stunning up close -- but I guess that we've always known the problem is with the fastball, despite its velocity. He's an enigma; he scares me. Great write up, thanks - wasn't aware of those peripherals!

Kevin Maitan and others
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 07:36 PM) Said it in the other thread, if we somehow by the grace of God get him, I better not ever hear Tatis Jr. name on this board again. I for one would instantly forget about Tatis.

Kevin Maitan and others
It would be such a boss move to get Maitan!

Kevin Maitan and others
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 02:25 PM) If Maitan was declared a free agent, would he count against international signing caps? I know that recent draft picks that were awarded free agency were completely unrestricted. God, I'd just about die of a bliss overdose if we could nab Maitan!!!

What do you take from the 2017 season?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 04:19 PM) No, I already told you guys months ago that as a fan I have the right to cheer when we get good. Just cause I'm being a dick now about the losing doesn't mean I can't enjoy the winning. I didn't say you can't cheer, sweetheart - I just said that personally, I'll be insulted and irritated by your enjoyment. ( it's all light hearted tounge in cheek crap, man. ) Buck up gregeroo.

What do you take from the 2017 season?
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) I wish the "ignore" button wiped all traces of the poster off the forums so when I get bored I'm not tempted to reply to his nonsense. I'm not sure which poster you're referring to - either Greg or myself - as we both post quite a lot of nonsense... granted, in very very different ways :

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) As a fan I was insulted and irritated... Then I will be equally insulted and irritated by your enjoyment of the next winning teams we field who result from the progress made in the last 8 months. ?

2018 MLB Draft
QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 10:35 AM) Also no Luken Baker or Konor Pilkington, who other sites had rated very highly. On the HS side, no Alek Thomas, Joe Gray Jr, or Xavier Edwards. At this point, I would like any of those guys in the second round. If we do take De Sedas, I would like Pilkington, Gray, Thomas (in that order) to help balance the draft and what we already have in the system. Good call - I didn't even notice that Gray was omitted from this list. Really shows how deep this draft is and how much things change. We're going to see so much continued changes still even in the next 8 months. Muhahahahah - stoked.
