White sox may be reconsidering their stance of being non sellers
hi8is replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 06:36 PM) You are really counting on multiple rookies to make an impact all at the same time. That usually doesn't work out well. Yea... They'd have other assets from the other trades not spelled out, would have one or two years to evaluate the young unproven guys in the majors, and would have plenty of room in their budget to add as necessary via free agency. -
And boom

Shields looks so freaking tired right now

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 06:05 PM) That is key to the whole thing. If you deal BOTH Q and Sale we are talking about filling multiple needs and adding much needed depth to thin farm system. 2019 could look something like this: CF - Benitendi RF - Eaton 2B - Moncada C - Lucroy DH - Collins 1B - Abreu 3B - Devers SS - Anderson LF - Pederson Rotation Fernandez Urias Rodon Fulmer Shields Bullpen Burdi Jones Other s*** yet to be determined Trade Q to LAD for Urias and Joc Pederson Trade Sale to Boston for Benitendi, Moncada, Devers, and 2 lower level prospects. Trade Fraizer, Melky, Robertson, Duke, Lawrie, etc for lower level prospects - a lot of pieces that will make up a bullpen. 2018 - Sign Lucroy 2019 - Sign Jose Fernandez -

QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 05:18 PM) It is hard to imagine that they would trade both Sale and Quintana. How would they rebuild a starting rotation, with both of those arms gone? One of them does indeed make sense, if they can fill several holes, in return. Say they trade both Sale and Q. You still have Rodon, Fulmer, and Shields. You're going to get back at least one - probably two frontline SP prospects like Urias and De Leon. You're also going to get some more projectable / further off SP prospects. We've also got Burdi, Adams, and Hansen. By 2018 you're also looking at FA options. In addition to these assets, you're also looking at adding a top flight CF, 3B, and 2B. Potentially you're filling 5 or 6 holes after creating two. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 01:58 PM) Joc Pederson has major potential. Sure does - but Eaton really seems like a consistent 5 WAR player on a good contract already.

According to Batman, yes - Batman... The offer for Sale was from Boston for Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech, and Basabe. That's not enough for Sale - caped crusader. -
A Dodgers friend of mine suggested Eaton for Pederson straight up. What do you guys think? I'd say no.

Uh. Yea. And I have been known to say poop from time to time. -
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 09:37 PM) So just stop taking chances on 'those type of players' because that makes sense. I don't get that logic, I know that Dunn and LaRoche didn't work out like we hoped but that doesnt mean that the Sox should stop taking chances of left handed power hitters. "Taking a chance" is fine and dandy... Just not with someone who averages almost 250 strike outs per year.

Can the OP add a poll option of "poop" and mark me down for that? Please.

QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 08:16 PM) I know it's sacrilege to suggest trading Sale but the Sox should at least listen to teams this offseason and see if some team can blow them away with an offer. I think Sale would bring back more than Q and the Sox have Q under contract for one more year than Sale. There's an argument to be made that if the Sox can get a haul for Sale, they can be contending again by no later than the 2018 season. On a personal note, fireball pitchers always scare me too. Sooner or later they seem to get injured and personally Q seems like a safer bet to avoid that type of injury. If the Sox can get a combo of 5-6 mlb ready players and or high level prospects for Sale, it may solve a lot of their problems. Firmly aboard yer ship me captain - ARRRRHHHHHG!!!

On another note - anyone ever seen thing guys stuff?

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 07:33 PM) Just so everyone has a clear idea of the value of Quintana, Cole Hamels and Jake Diekman were traded last year for 3 top 100 prospects (Thompson, Williams, and Alfaro), a MLB starting pitcher (Harrison), and a solid young MLB starter (Eickhoff). Since Q has become a full-time starter, he's been worth 2 more fWAR than Hamels and would have an extra years worth of control. That is the baseline for a Q trade. If you want to talk Sale, better be ready to push all your chips into the center of the table. Neither should be or will be cheap and the Sox are in no rush to get rid of either. +2

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 07:18 PM) Went to the game today and it sucked to see another quality start wasted by this awful bullpen. They're doing oh so many things horribly wrong.

QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) Lets say, Sale to Rangers for... Profar Sweet Lew Brinson Luis Ortiz Ariel Jurado an A ball pitcher (the Rags have a lot) Not enough.
-
QUOTE (daggins @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 07:13 PM) One of these things is not like the others... Yea.... That Astros deal sucks.

Now I wanna see them both traded to see what their actual value ends up being

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 03:24 PM) A dime is $1000 in betting slang. Figured -
Come on guys. You all know we should trade Rodon, Saladino, and Garcia for Rich Hill.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) I don't remember if it's 2018 or 2019, but one of those years supposedly has a stacked free agent class. In an ideal world, I'd like the Sox to trade everyone off now, and sign a superstar in 2-3 years when all the guys they'll acquire from these trades now and/or the draft are ready to make an impact at the big league level. If Hahn plays his cards right, this team could be very good in 2 or 3 years. It's 2018. Going into this season before I drank the cool-aid, my stance had been that 2016 and likely 2017 were wash years for the Sox... That their real next shot for contending was 2018.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 06:43 PM) That's too much for Sale. I think you may get to pick one of Seager, Urias and Pederson. That's too little for Q. I try to move him to Boston for Moncada. I will never agree with the thought that Sale doesn't return at least a clubs too 4 young guys... As a starting point. You little need to be raping a team in order for them to get Sale. I agree that Boston is the place to go with Q.
-
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) Too much for Sale, too little for Q IMO. A Sale trade would HAVE to be too much and have to be unprecedented.
-
QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 06:39 PM) Gallo... uh no Look up his minor league stats... not very impressive. I said I do t like his high K rate. ~250k per 162 games - don't even have to look that up. He's also averaging about 50 HR in i that same span but I'm done with the boom or bust player.
-
Sale to LAD for: Urias, De Leon, Seager, Holmes, Bellinger, and Pederson. Q to TEX for: Profar, Brinson, and Tate That's what I'm asking for if I'm in Hahn's seat.
