Abreu trade "unlikely"
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) ...For St. Louis I need Kelly & Flaherty... Hell, for those two I'd include someone like Sanchez and drive Abreu to St. Louie myself... those two seem to be two of the most "can't miss MLB ready" prospects in the top 100.

Abreu trade "unlikely"
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 06:25 PM) Red Sox still linked to #WhiteSox slugger Jose Abreu, but keep an eye on Cardinals. @scotgregor: https://t.co/zObvTOxJTk https://twitter.com/dailyherald/status/939661213394280449 Setting up for a bidding war... if we get a blue chip haul in the sale, eaton, or quintana mold - then I'd stomach an Abreu trade. Otherwise, just say, "no way, Jose!"

Giancarlo Stanton traded to Yankees
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 01:12 PM) Fangraphs graded him out as an average fielder - better than Avi Garcia in the field, for example. Huh - cool... better than I had anticipated.

Giancarlo Stanton traded to Yankees
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 12:38 PM) Really amazed that this seemingly does take them out of the Harper sweepstakes next offseason. They'll have the money to spend but they can't play all 3 of him, Stanton, and Judge. How do the defensive ratings score Judge? I suspect he doesn't rate out as good as Harper and could see New York being New York and getting all three. Hicks Torres Stanton Judge Harper Sanchez Bird Didi Andujar Good god.

Orioles listening on Machado?...
Trade for him if you get a 48 hour window to extend him to a 12 year 350 million dollar deal. Yea... that'll happen. ?

Abreu trade "unlikely"
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 6, 2017 -> 11:03 AM) I don't think I've said that since the weekend. Sorry my post didn't have the word poop in it. Didn't mean to be judgemental or come off as an ass - I'm just like you and everyone else here... bored by the lack of activity. It happens every year - you know this.

Abreu trade "unlikely"

Abreu trade "unlikely"
QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 5, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) Cards just signed Mikolas so now they have even more SP depth to trade from. Making Flaherty and possibly even Reyes now available. If Hahn could get Reyes he would have reached his "asking for an arm and both legs" assumption. Totally. I love said repeatedly that I don't see Abreu going this year... BUT if they dropped Reyes in the bucket then you bet your sweet ass he's outta here! ??

Ohtani signs with the Angels
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 4, 2017 -> 09:10 AM) It won't be the Rangers/Cubs. It will be a west coast team and I'm predicting Angels / Mariners. My preference is the Ms now, considering the field.

Ohtani signs with the Angels
I'm glad people decided to debate the "potential" of him signing with us when many of us constantly stated we had no chance. My odds did go from 1:1,000,000 to 1:1,000 - so I'll give you guys that.

If you had to trade either Avi or Jose....
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Dec 3, 2017 -> 04:25 AM) His batted ball profile isn't that different from 2015-16 so I don't know what you guys are Dam8610 is talking about. His exit velocity went down too, from 104 to 90 mph last season so it wasn't like he was hitting the ball harder. Fixed that for ya there... you may want to clarify with him as "you guys" does not equal the user Dam8610.

If you had to trade either Avi or Jose....
QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 3, 2017 -> 02:17 AM) Are you only looking at BABIP? Because in looking at the underlying data, that is the only way you could come to that conclusion. His entire contact profile changed this year, he pulled the ball more, made less soft contact than at any point in his career by noticeable amounts, and his strikeout rate dropped dramatically, both from his career norm and throughout the season. Avi is a player who I think will experience significant regression in 2018, but I expect to see positive regression in the power and walk numbers as much as I expect the negative average regression everyone is worried about. I wouldn't be surprised if those regressions offset and he became a 4 WAR player again next year with a much different statline. We just said the same exact thing in different words.

If you had to trade either Avi or Jose....
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 10:40 PM) Even if that was gobbledygook to those who don't speak standard deviations, the conclusion is "you have a 1/1000 or worse chance of putting up that kind of season if you're not actually a really good hitter". Summary enough? Seems to me that your response qualifies more so for gobbledygook than CaliSoxFanViaSWside's original post. I partially wanted to point this out just because gobbledygook is oh so fun to say... so... gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook, gobbledygook. gobbledygook! GOBBLEDYGOOooooooooK!!!!!

If you had to trade either Avi or Jose....
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Dec 2, 2017 -> 09:30 PM) To me it's fun even more so now than when I was challenging everyone about Avi. At least now a few have converted. Next year if he doesn't get traded a few more probably twice as many with 2 good seasons in a row. I will say this, it's always surprised me by how fast people where willing to write him off. My stance was to ride it out and see what happens. That's still my approach and I speculate we'll see some regression next year that will be neutralized by an increase in power production. Should that happen, I don't need to see anything else and would want him extended on a four year deal with two team options for years 5 and 6.
