If anyone could offer any trade secrets as to where to be at what time to catch extended BP/practice and things like that before spring games at Camelback- I would appreciate it. I've been down with my family the past few years- talked to Jim Thome a bit during BP before a WSox/Brewers game, but I want to make sure we're not missing anything. Do the WSox at Camelback allow kids to run the bases after Sunday games? I know the Brewers and Giants do this (maybe everyone does this, I'm not sure). I know the Brewers have practice at their facility the morning of road games, which they have open to the public. Do the WSox do anything like that? I'm not an auto/eBay guy....my 10 year old (who is a really good player in his own right!) has really read up on the batch of young talent coming in and I'm excited for him to grow with this rebuild. If you'd rather message me- feel free. Thanks in advance, guys.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go

QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 01:29 AM) True. I clearly need to go to bed. As soon as you do....BAM...trade goes down. You'll be the last to know and never really know all of the details as to how it went down. Stay up. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 12:20 AM) Jeff PassanVerified account @JeffPassan Sale, Quintana, Frazier and Robertson fits what the Dodgers need. And White Sox like Bellinger, Verdugo, DeLeon, Calhoun and Yasiel Puig. Fine. Q and Frazier for those 5.

Frazier wants to stay, doesn't want Sox to trade Sale
rockren replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 12:03 AM) Yes, sir, but you know that line "The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry ." Teams now seem to be of this mindset where they covet and will never trade their top tier young players and prospects and will only trade their second tier prospects and players who have issues, injuries or other issues. If that turns out to be the case, then what do we do ? There may no longer be a Draft day pay-off for tanking seasons in an era where there is a race to last so teams can game the system like the Cubs did. With such a weak FA class and the current money value as well as sell-high value on the Sox up for trade....now is absolutely the time for the Sox to do this. -
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 09:19 AM) I believe that if the Sox do it right, they can trade one of Sale or Quintana along with Robertson and Cabrera and still end up with a decent team that could compete as early as 2018. Again, if they do it right. Unfortunately, I don't think there's a lot of confidence in that happening. Personally I think they need to hold on to Eaton. He's the type of guy you can build around, and as someone else mentioned, he could be the leader with an attitude of the newbies. Also, I'm not against the Sox extending Frazier. However, a move like that would make a proper rebuild a necessity. You only extend Frazier if you think you can compete in 2018. All that being said, I'll be happy if they get the right packages back for whoever they trade. We'll have a good idea what they're plan is as the dominoes start to fall. If both Sale and Quintana go, I would expect a tear-down and build from the foundation situation, which would mean a few year process. Same goes if Eaton is traded along with one of Sale or Quintana. I agree I'd rather them hold onto Eaton, but if Toronto did center a package around Vlad Jr....you'd really have to consider flipping him. I'm really not crazy about building a team to compete in 2018- the Sox need to tear it down and build from the ground up with eyes closer to 2020. What the Astros and Brewers have done is what I wan the Sox to do.

Good question. I think Hahn could go a number of ways, but I think the recent Royals model would be a good one to follow....and by recent I mean dating back to the Greinke trade to Milwaukee as being key. Built around defense while having an elite bullpen is an excellent starting point. This thread is valid because the Whitesox are in a position as to where they could choose to build whatever type of system they'd want should they choose to go full rebuild (which I feel they should do). Sale, Q, Abreu and Eaton could net the Sox 20 new prospects with potentially 12-15 of those being in the top 100 of all of baseball.

8/26 Mariners at White Sox
rockren replied to Swingandalongonetoleft's topic in 2012 Season in Review
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 26, 2012 -> 12:58 PM) They have no bullpen, and outside of Weaver and Wilson, their starting rotation is awful. I don't see them winning the wild card/ Greinke.... I do agree, though. Their bullpen just won't help get them to the playoffs for that trio to matter. -
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 17, 2010 -> 07:44 AM) This was last night, or tonight? If last night, did anyone get to watch it? You didn't miss much. If you saw the press conference it was just a short repeat.

I find it amusing we all knew who "BA" was as soon as we read the thread title...

Wilder told the Tribune that he was unaware that the charges against him were going to be announced Wednesday and declined to talk about the allegations. "I don't have a job. I don't have a life right now," Wilder said in a telephone interview. "I'm a human being and I have gone through a lot. I would appreciate it if you could give me some humanity. I have lost everything." He then hung up. Is this guy joking? "I'm a human being"....WTF? Actually, he's a poor excuse for a human being who stabbed one of his best friends in KW and an organization who trusted him in the back. Lets not forget it would be fair to call this puke a drug dealer as well. Wilder isn't just a poor excuse for a human being...he's a scumbag. I hope he's lost everything and is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) This was already posted in the White Sox Catch-All, not trying to be an ass but sometimes it's not worth to make a whole new thread about something, check the Catch-All. Anything involving Frank is worthy to be posted twice. I didn't see this in the catch-all, either. Thanks for sharing this and I hope it all works out well for Frank!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 12:35 AM) (Joba would be a great buy low candidate too if the Yankees are down on him at all) Strongly agree.

This is a bigger decision than people think. Look at what happened to Joba Chamberlain. They decided to bring him out of the pen to start his career and he was dynamite. I was at the Cell in '08 when he blew Konerko and Thome away without any trouble (a few 99 mph fastballs topped off with one of the nastier sliders I've ever seen). Sure Joba eventually lost that game to a walk off single to everyone's hero, Joe Crede. Anyway- you all all know the history since and New York decided to make Joba a starter...that didn't go so well. Everyone in the Yankee organization assumed they could just make him a reliever again and guess what? He's nowhere near what he was coming out of the pen before. I wouldn't call Joba's shot at becoming an elite reliever again over...but people fear he could be ruined. If the WSox drafted Sale as a future starter, then they need to start him in AAA as a starter if he isn't starting in the big leagues. If they decided to change their minds and use him as a reliever- then they need to mold him as a potential set-up man and groom him to be a closer in the making. The WSox can't afford to be in between on this decision. I'm all for developing him as a starter.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 6, 2010 -> 10:09 PM) Foxsports put together a panel of 5 experts to make predictions for Free Agents, as far as White Sox picks went.... Konerko: 0 of the 5 thought Konerko would return to the Sox. and Dunn: 2 of the 5 thought Dunn would come to the Sox. 2 said the Tigers, and 1 said the Cubs. I understand the sentimental value P-Ko has to Sox fans and rightfully so, but it may not be a bad idea to turn back the clock a bit and bring in a left handed power bat in Dunn.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 06:58 PM) So, with the free agent signing period about to begin, it's time to step up and guess where the big names will go. : Crawford: Angels (6/$130M) Werth: Red Sox (4/$75M) Lee: Texas (5/$110M) Beltre: San Francisco (4/$45M) Konerko: D-backs (3/$35M) Dunn: Nats (2/$30M) Victor Martinez: White Sox (3/$34M) I still feel a little burned by my NBA Free Agent Thread I predicted for the Bulls this last off-season where I had Bron and Bosh going to the Bulls....but I'll give this a shot anyway. Crawford: Boston (6-110) Werth: Detroit (4-60) Lee: NY Yanks (5-135) Beltre: Anaheim (3-45) Konerko: Anaheim (3-36) Dunn: Chi Sox (4-48) Victor: Texas (4-50)

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 30, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) What I find interesting is outside of his 5 game 1 for 19 in August the kid had some pretty ridiculous stats. His OPS is like a 1.000 I know sample sizes, sample sizes, but he did crush the heck outa the ball. And as a 21 year old? Where are most 21 year olds..A-AA ball? Yea he doesn't have good discipline but he can actually hit really bad pitches; remember that shoe-string homer? You can't use the plate discipline argument for him like you would most players, as he seems like somewhat of a unique case. That bomb he hit out of Comerica was a rocket. Hawk said that ball left he park quicker than any ball he has ever seen. Tank is a special talent in the making IMO.
-
I think we received a bit of a mixed bag reference Tank's performance, but all in all most of us were rather pleased with him. Sure I'd like to see him take a walk here and there, but he's 21 years old. Tank also knew he had to make an impression while he was up so he swung for the fences with regularity because his time was short. I would like to see him start the season in AAA next year at 1B and I believe he'll open the season as a top 50 prospect.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 22, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) The Mets haven't confirmed it's Alderson yet, but they've said it's down to Alderson and Byrnes. Good news for us.

QUOTE (beck72 @ Oct 24, 2010 -> 05:38 AM) The Yanks prob. would if Mark would waive his NTC. They'll never offer a ton of prospects in a trade when they just plan on signing Cliff Lee. IF (big if considering I'd give the Yanks a 99% chance to sign Lee) then maybe. But don't forget the Johan sweeps years ago considering they were unwilling to come anywhere near blowing the Twins away for him. IF (another big if) KW were even considering moving MB this off-season...my guess is he would have to be "bowled over" (a term I've heard KW use several times in the past).

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 21, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) Can we please just agree that this idea of trading Jon Danks is just crazt talk I'd like to agree...but it depends what you can get for him IMO.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 21, 2010 -> 05:57 PM) And you want the best evidence possible that the Sox think there's a good chance that Danks leaves? They already drafted his replacement. Bingo. I'd hate for Danks to play the rest of his career anywhere else....but I believe his days in Chicago will numbered sooner than later one way or another.
